One of the best beginners Kundalini video sessions
25 January 2012
Set on a grassy plateau overlooking the pacific, the cameras focus on teacher Erin and her four students with the ocean behind them. The costumes are somewhat silly, similar to Barbara Eden's costume in the television series, I Dream Of Jeannie, but quite attractive and colorful and is an enhancement of the visual. There's a chanting musical accompaniment that could be described as a mix of traditional eastern chant and western pop which is pleasant to hear and helps determine the paceing since your eyes will be closed in meditation most of the time.

It's the best beginners kundalini yoga video I've ever seen. The women are top notch athletes whom show the kind of toned musculature that's sexy on a woman without being masculine. The natural outdoorsy setting, colors (hair, costumes and flora), physical attractiveness, breeze in the air, and sounds make this video beautiful. It's somewhat difficult for a beginners video but don't let that scare you as it's a thoroughly enjoyable experience which you can go into as far as you choose.

The Appaloosa (1966)
5/10
The horse was the most convincing actor
5 October 2010
I'm being nice and giving it an even five stars just because the women and scenery are so beautiful. In Chicago there used to be a movie theater that ran Mexican produced westerns every weekend. They came out of a sardine can for the most part, when you got really lucky they had a special three banger like, "The Horsethief", "The Man Who Stole Horses" and finally, "That Man Stole My Horse!" Granted they were different movies but...

Appaloosa seems to be an American adaptation of of of these movies but it's anybodies guess which one. These movies are fun though, I guess thats why they made so many of them. This one however should have been put in a tuna can. Marlon Brando is bored out of his mind. He perks up when he visits a married couple who are his friends. He flirts with the woman, lovely Mexican MILF Miriam Colon, but he's clearly more interested in her husband Emilio Fernandez.

I can't pick on John Saxon, he's not the greatest actor but he earns his paycheck every time like the pro he is.

Anjanette Comer is gorgeous but not in a steamy Mexican kind of way. She was perfect in The Loved One. Born to do campy sexy roles in short dresses. She's miscast here.

Unless you can't get enough of your favorite actor, watch something else.

The Immortal (1969–1971)
Bad review but best here
17 February 2010
A guy (Christopher George as Ben Richards) has immunity to all things and even ages at a fourth the rate of the rest of us and it's his blood that's the key. He's offered "everything he could ever want" by a rich guy that wants him for regular blood transfusions. Problem is, immunity guy leads a dangerous life so rich guy demands of immunity guy to live a risk free lifestyle, soft and cushy protection hosted by rich guy. Immunity guy loves his dangerous lifestyle and prefers it to a protected one that would be torture to him so he refuses the offer. Rich guy doesn't take no for an answer and considers himself entitled, irregardless to any idea of individuals having self ownership.

So then comes the drama, rich guy hires an oily creep to capture immunity guy and bleeds him when he catches him, but immunity guy keeps getting away...DOH'.

While the chase from rich guy and company goes on, immunity guy comes upon various unfortunate individuals whom he saves by giving them a blood transfusion.

There's also an undercurrent (and actually most important) theme about individualism, freedom etc. There's something to the theme about the nonconformist personality who is always under attack to get back in the box. This show was a variation of that theme.

Quick side comment
4 October 2006
This is one my favorite or Jerry Lewis. Lots of great comments here I can't augment but I want to add another facet.

I never liked Charlie Chaplin much because he deals the martyrdom card to often and too heavy. This movie has that element in it too and it is a major flaw in my opinion. His sympathy pain scene, that's pure funny stuff that won't let you catch your breath, but then he's made into a martyr over his self destructive infatuation over Stella Stevens and it's disagreeable to me. She entirely unlikeable and doesn't deserve him etc...

Martyrdom isn't funny to me, it's not entertaining, it's not "deep". It's sad and mentally ill and is decadent when it's interwoven with comedy. After the sympathy pain scene you can turn it off and watch Jerry Lewis' The Nutty Professor instead. Stella Stevens is in that one too and A LOT sexier! What caused his dental mirror to get hung up in her dress? ;)

Brief summary
21 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Only read the first paragraph if you don't want to read about the storyline.

As funny as it gets. A screwball comedy with believable characters.

Rock Hudson's character writes instructional fishing manuals but has never been fishing and doesn't know a hook from a sinker. Of course the time comes where he is invited to a fishing competition in which his bosses ego and personal reputation is at stake (and Rock's job). So he goes out to the fishing competition with one ridiculous thing happening after another. The big fish jumps into his boat and he wins the competition.

The second story going on is this "triple A" chick who is played by Paula Prentiss and it's just as funny as the fishing part. More ridiculous dramas occur between them, Rock loses his fiancé' due to hilarious misunderstandings, falls in love with Paula Prentiss, and a happy ending.

It's all a fun, immature fantasy. Rock Hudson played great, friendly, but masculine male roles, Paula Prentiss is hot and endearing and who couldn't fall in love with her? I sure did.
