Love Again (2023)
Has its moments
The first 30 minutes or so of Love Again do feel a bit dull, the introduction of the main characters did not build much investment from me. But once they begin coming together the movie improves a lot, has a few funny moments and genuine ones too.
The shouted "yo" answering the phone is unexpectedly hilarious.
I don't know what to make of Celine being a driving force in the movie, it is something different at least that helps make the movie feel a bit less formulaic.
Not sure why so many reviews complain about the lead being sad her boyfriend died, that was a core part of the movie and would obviously make anyone sad for a very long time.
Les choses qu'on dit, les choses qu'on fait (2020)
A contrived plot with no payoff
Saw this film as part of a local film festival and unfortunately found it a huge disappoinment. It starts out strong with interesting characters entangled in desire/love however once the flashback stories are finished the Daphne / Maxime storyline takes center stage and does not feel well deserved at all. I don't feel the lessons in this movie are as profound as the movie tries to be.
I enjoyed the scenery and general camera work presented throughout the film.
After finishing the movie the only character arc I have respect for is Louise's.
The Trip to Greece (2020)
Less talk more travel please
Was hoping to be able to see some beautiful shots of Greece scenery but all I got was 1hr 40min of two men trying to be funny. There was moments of humour but I was largely bored throughout. The family phone calls and 'random' guests felt very non-organic.
