Stay Still (2023)
Conflicted
I had a hard time giving this an accurate rating for a few reasons. I wanted to give it a high rating because I loved the story of Hayden and Damien. I was the entire series was about them. The actors did a great job and had real chemistry.
On the other hand, I don't understand why the series was split into 2 unrelated stories. Or why there were separate characters telling the story.
It was beautifully shot and felt high quality. I would have rated higher without the odd storytelling structure and Kelvin & Archie storyline.
Either way, it was worth the quick watch. And Hayden is super cute.
Desperados (2020)
Why??
Why does Netflix keep making movies like this? Lamorne Morris is charming but the rest of the movie was painful to watch.
1917 (2019)
Couldn't take my eyes off it
1917 is so beautifully shot it could have had no dialogue and it still would have been an incredible story. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for the whole two hours, and wished it was longer.
Middleditch & Schwartz (2020)
Definitely watch this. Like, right now.
So I'm not a person who really laughs out loud. I love comedy but very few things me actually lol. And honestly, I often find improv slightly annoying. That being said, I did not stop laughing through 3 hours of this special. It was absolutely worth the time spent and left me wanting more.
Middleditch and Schwartz are so quick and funny. Watching them improvise and work together to tell stories on the fly was incredible. It was obvious they were having so much fun and that made it all the more enjoyable.
Django Unchained (2012)
A Western Fairy Tale - Tarantino Style
Eight years later and I still consider this to be one of the best movies I've ever seen. This is a western fairy tale in which Django stops at nothing to save his wife from the horrors of slavery in the deep south. The story addresses themes of love, friendship, right vs wrong, and slavery racism, in the most brutal way possible.
The performance by all of the actors are incredible and the cinematography is beautiful. Although there are a few scenes that are hard to watch, they are necessary to add to the viewers understanding of the barbarism of slavery. I recommend this movie to all who can stomach Tarantino brutality.
