Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
I got stupider after watching this
I seriously have no idea how this became a classic.
The whole time i wanted the rabbit to die. Annoying and stupid to the point its unwatchable.
I saw this as a kid and knew back then it was a flavour of the month.
Although Christopher Lloyd and Bob Hoskins are good the rabbit made me want to blow my brains out all over the couch.
I know what kind of movie this is but to be honest i see why they never made a sequel and i hope to hell they never do.
I dont know why everyone says the 80's were better when they were truly not. Boomers in charge and mental health went unchecked or cared about.
This just proves how insane everyone was.
Hot Date (2017)
Two leads are comedy magic
There is a whole lot of realism mixed with satire in this comedy gem. The leads have comedic timing not seen since Always sunny. These two could definitely go head to head with IASIP.
Murph and Em have been around a long time and i wish they would do another season.
I laughed the whole way through and EVERY episode is awesome and packed with comedy gold.
Skit comedy is usually git and miss but this one is written by two very talented people who are clearly veterans of dating and coupledom. The characters they play are both very real and total parodies of couples seen today also their friends and people they interact with.
Binge this with someone you have seen naked.
S.F.W. (1994)
A perfect slice of the 90's
This is actually better than the book.
The satire is a very nice addition to the story as well. The whole circus of 90's talk shows is represented in direct parallel to the way it was.
In fact the whole media aspect is represented in the book but the movie makes it way more tangible to a person who saw it.
Stephen dorff and reese witherspoon are good together and have a chemistry not seen by many big budget films.
Cliff Spab is a perfect picture of a person who grew up in a poor neighbourhood without much a future and he knows it. He doesnt care and why should he? I remember that way of 90's rebelling.
I could relate to the character and understand why he would become such a pop icon for those just like him.
It just stuck with me as well as anyone i have shown it to.

Sinister (2012)
Gets under your skin
This one is legit scary.
The music sets a tone for this that sets you in a trance and you can'tlook away.
I think that is the idea here. Its been a long time since i saw a really good horror movie. This is just that. It does not focus on gore but mood.
It has plenty of that.
Acting is top notch and Ethan Hawke is awesome. All the acting is good. The kids dont ham it up and normally kids in a horror movie are annoying.
Not these ones.
Mr Bughul is a great horror monster and his methods are fresh and original. Scary scary scary
This movie is original and legit scary. Let the kids watch it for a sleep over and none of them will sleep for weeks.
Strongly recommend this gem.
Masters of the Universe: Revolution (2024)
This is what we wanted!
Great season.
The story is far better than season one and focuses on HE-MAN and SKELETOR!!!
I think the voices of fans were heard and someone pulled their head out of the pander verse.
I loved every episode and am excited to see more.
Great idea to focus on the HORDE and Hordak for a better part of the show.
Really excited to see how they handle Despara becoming She-Ra.
There is lore that expands the show and i will say they handled it really well.
There was actual canon they used in new ways to make a great show.
I do hope season 3 brings in the Snake Men as they have a great arc for story telling.
Four on the Floor (1985)
Early 80's Canadiana comedy
I have very fond memories of this show.
My brothers and I (between the ages of 10-6) would watch it on CBC and would quote all the lines for the next week. Those who remember it are few and far between but I still have the comedy album and it still gets played every now and then.
We could even catch it out at the lake. CBC is the only thing that came in clear out at Alberta Beach.
So every Thursday my brothers and girl cousin would all watch. She liked it too and then there were 4 kids running around singing "boot to the head". This show although short lived gives me good memories of skit comedy. Before Kids in the Hall.
Black Christmas (2006)
I am a fan of this, as much as the original.
Ok so i wasn't expecting a whole lot from this but I was pleasantly surprised.
Its a lot of fun if you turn off your expectations for it to be better than the original.
Its not.
The tone is very different from the original and I like that.
Although its a mediocre slasher from the mid 2000's it has really funny moments and a super gross killers origin story. Almost like this movie wants to poke xmas in the eye and spit in its face.
The cast is decent and can act for the most part.
The final girl is cookie cutter type as well.
Andrea Martin shows up and that just makes it even better. Any SCTV alumni is gold.
It has been a fun watch almost every xmas.
It even better as a double feature with
The original.
Popcorn (1991)
Took LSD first time i watched this.
Ok so the story is,
In the 90's I lived out in the country where there isnt much to do.
The video store in town had a really great collection of obscure horror. The deal in the store was also "10 movies for 10$ for 10 days".
So my brother and I dropped and started to watch our picks.
So just after the first one we started to feel it pretty hard. It had gotten dark outside so we put this little gem on. I peaked for sure during the watch but as high as we were, we were focused on just what a fun movie it was. Laughing and tripping out on a movie with three other movies in it. Couple of jump scares that truly hit the mark just right.
I have to admit for a horror slasher its a good time.
Even sober i enjoyed it on a second watch.
Pulse (2006)
Its actually decent
I actually like this one. The washed look of the film is shot like an overcast day. I believe it gives the film a great look. The story is rehashed from "Kairo" and i wont say its better because its pretty much the same. Cast is good and likeable with some fairly clichéd dialogue. I mean, really it was released in the spring when going to a movie was an excuse to get out. The tech ages the movie significantly and its funny to see Razr phones again.
The sequels are way low budget and made some odd choices but as a trilogy, you could do worse.
Screen play by Wes Craven certainly helps and it does feel like his touch is on it.
Give it a shot.
Resident Evil (2022)
Baffling series
This is not good. Bad characters and pointless.
Do not waste your time. One of the worst adaptations. It reeks of "Wokeness" . Terrible acting and confusing actions done by the characters.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
This fails so hard.
Not much redeeming quality about this.
The animation is solid but that is it.
The story is very disconnected from the source material and just feels like it has no point.
I also dont know who this is for. Certainly not the fans as it you need to know back story to understand what the premise is.
But they kill off the hero and villain. Also reducing all major characters to a single shot or killing them off.
The show focuses on a terrible version of teela who is just a garbage person.
I turned it off after 3 episodes.
No need to go back to see what happens.
