Anweshippin Kandethum (2024)
Average
An average experience trying to capitalize on the current trend of investigative thrillers. Was a decent start to begin with. As it progressed, turned out to a very ordinary affair. 2nd half was too boring and mundane. First half slightly better. Both the story lines appeared to be a bit cliche, usual stuff seen in many movies . Not much effort has gone into the script. Tovino was the saving grace delivering a decent performance. Support cast of all the police officers appeared repetitive some of them very poorly developed characters. Most other roles too appeared lazy. Scrip could have been much better with a better casting.

Good movie
A pleasant surprise after quite sometime from the Malayalam industry after a string of flops and mediocre scripts rated as hits. Director does a good job! Straight court room drama ! It's all about evidence in court as they say ! The premise is stuck too. Lalettan once again delivers effortlessly with subtle expressions. Anashwara is the surprise package here delivering a superb performance . Siddique does an outstanding job. There was no overdose in both their roles as advocates . The first half of the movie was a breeze. Second half needed a bit more tidying. The main cast performed well. However some key witnesses and few other artists appeared lost. The movie though conveyed what it was supposed to. A good closing to the year from both Lalettaan & Mwood !
Kannur Squad (2023)
Average fair
What works for this movie is that there are no other decent fares that is running in cinemas. So that is what appears to be keeping this going. Very average story line with the second half really dragging. The goriness that is depicted in the first half as part of a crime is shocking with all the elements thrown in. These movies need to be censored as 'A'. It's the same with most recent movies that are released. Mammooty has managed his part well. Rony has the interesting bits in his character sketch while the other two have average roles as the squad . Villiains
are over the top. The fight scenes during the second half are stretched. First investigation bit is totally disconnected to the story line whereas the second one is what the movie is all about. Could have been better.
Ramachandra Boss & Co (2023)
Disappointing
Went in with much expectations but the movie was way below average. In this age of OTT where viewers are exposed to quality content across the globe, to dish out such mediocre stuff that too during a festival season is disappointing to say the least ! Nivin with such a potential and once a leading actor in his own right , graph is on a downhill . How on earth he was convinced to do this role and to even put money in the production is a question only he would be able to answer. Rest all of the cast were fillers with stale comedy. You can't have even the best of them being cast and carry this script . It's such a lazily written one !
Disappointing !

Who will bell the cat ?
This was a laboured watch and deserved a quick walk out in the first few minutes. The first hour or so reminded me of those art movies which specialized in close up shots, irrelevant scenes , screenplay. Bus journey ,TV drama that was played out, granny laughing out was just pathetic. Just wondering 'Who will bell the cat ' with the kind of movies that are being churned out by the ace director? His movies are increasingly difficult to watch nowadays. May be for an art lover or a film maker ,this may offer the technicalities. For the common man who wants to watch a decent movie, this is poor to say the least. After the movie and reading the reviews, wonder , have i watched the same movie as the reviewer.
Just replace the ace director with someone else name and legendry actor with any other names, this subject and way its picturized would have been trashed.
No words. Disappointing !!
Saudi Vellakka (2022)
Outstanding
One of the best movies ! Beautifully executed. Content was superb. Very relevant .Wish this movie goes places. Just an outstanding performace from the leading old lady !! Subtle and restrained! Lawyer was good as well with his mannersims. Binu Pappus contribution was good too. Most artists did their part well. Excellent back ground score. A simple theme but with great impact. There should be a screening session arranged for judges and lawyers and wish to see this as Indias entry to the festivals. Trials and fights against the system. Story seem to be taken from a real life incident and hats off to the entire team to adapt it to screen. The only negative possibly is with the 'Title'. While it may be relevant to the content, with a different title, possibly could have drawn more people to theatres who kept themselves watching big screen on account of the title.

Lame script
One of the most lazy scripts watched recently. In the name of OTT, some in the industry seem to have found new ways to release content which otherwise would possibly have no takers. This new found success is being misused in going ahead with such shoddy scripts. This is taking viewers for granted. There is hardly anything worth to write about. Limitation is more on account of the very thin script. A small thread has been blown up to a point where it cannot further sustain. Wouldn't blame the actors . However, lead actor seem to have produced this movie, possibly trying to find success similar to few of the movies which have succeeded recently. Nothing worth writing about. A good 2 hrs of time lost.
This movie reminded me of those movies which were for the awards and festivals. They could do better.
Kantara (2022)
Brilliant
A brilliant movie ! Having watched in OTT , can just imagine the theatre experience. FIrst 15 mins of the movie and the climax is mindblowing. To depict the art form, traditions with sincerity is too good. Rishabh has nailed it. Except for the dialogue delivery of Rishabh, it was a bit quick for me having watched the Kannada version. Some lines/words missed it. Otherwise it is a clean and fantastic one. Some needless controversy on song and misogyny. Song although sounds similiar ,context is different . May be they could credit this to the orignial team. To the other bit, people can just ignore and move on. Celebrate the goodness in the movie. Achuyth Kumar is brilliant and Kishore , a very neat role. The lady pc as well along with the initial artist who doned the role of the performer.
Loved the theme. Great going ! Kudos to Rishabh for the creativity !

Good one
A nice one from Jeetu Joseph. First half was a breeze. Asif Ali played to perfection the character of a police officer ably supported by Ranji Panicker, although certain scenes reminds of previous characters played by him. Senior Police officer-Jayaraman was a bit disappointing. Lacked the usual punch expected from a police. Its all about Asif how he potrays different shades of his character. Baburaj has played similiar roles. The second half just pushed the movie to a different direction. Climax could have been shot better. Some of the characters that appear in the tea stall dont add any further value except during the first bit. Jaffer Iduki once again proves his mettle in a short role. What an actor he is.
A decent thriller.
Mukundan Unni Associates (2022)
Decent one
Went in with expectations and personally was disappointed. It's the same content being replayed several times throughout the movie. Whilst the content may be new, the novelty is lost when there is repetition throughout. It drags in the second half as there is nothing new on offer.
Recent trend in the indiustry of actors and directors taking on more multi disciplinary approach. I'm not an admirer of directors getting into acting & actors vice-versa directing. May have found short term success with their new passion. May ventually end up losing focus and skills in both in few years time! Hopefully proved wrong! When directors do the act, expecations are lowered.
However, it's a decent movie considering OTT and could find takers across the cross section. Not a theatre or big screen experience for me.
Seem to be thriving on publicity. Surprised with the reception it has garnered!
Oru Thekkan Thallu Case (2022)
Fairly decent watch
A fairly decent watch. Director could have slightly played around with the script & this would have been much more entertaining.
Climax could have been much more interesting. Length of the movie could have been shortened. That would have made it racy. Title was a dampner. Could have had a different one.
Among the actors - PadmaPriya was Top class. Biju Menon & Roshan performed well. Nimisha's expression appeared same throughout.
Friends team of Roshan did their part well as well.
Could have done with some slick editing as certain parts were a drag !
A one time watch though. Better than some of the recent ones. Appears that it lacked promotion.
Breathe: Into the Shadows (2020)
Terrible script & Plastic acting
One of the poor contents on OTT ! Poor script & to top it Terrible acting! Bad casting ! Abhisekh is wooden & Nitya is terrible. A child is lost , the police & the parents continue as though they just lost an inconsequential object ! Add to it another graudate student is missing & no followups ! If you get through by 5th episode , then it requires a special mention ! On one hand we have series like Breaking Bad, Fauda , Body Guard , Little sheldon, Big Bang, Family man & many breakingnew ground and we have his pathetic series to compete !
Disappointing !
