The Famous Five (1978)
The magic of the books just as magical on the screen.
I love this adaptation. The characters stay true to the books, but modernise them for a 1970s time. I love Anne's characterisation in this adaptation. She is so strong and fearless.
The plots change slightly to work with the 1970s theme, but still stay true to the original books.
All the best parts are carried into the series including the spontaneous camping adventures, secret tunnels and plenty of good hearted mystery.
Even as an adult I still regularly rewatch the series. Even though I know them by heart I still sit on the edge of my seat, anticipating what will happen next. I highly recommend this series for everyone.
The Princess Diaries (2001)
Great movie
This is the movie I'll make my kids sit and watch in 10 years time even though they'll complain that they don't want to watch a movie that was made 30 years ago. It's a classic. You have to watch it to understand why it's so good. I also love how they changed the movie compared to the book. The grandma rocks. There's so many quotable, relatable moments that just make you feel good. The Baby-Sitters Club (2020)
That same feeling as reading the books and watching the 1990s series
I have absolutely loved watching this modern adaptation of the baby sitters club. As a child I read all the books and watched the 1990s tv series and I love love that they have that same feel-good feeling. There aren't many modern adaptations that have achieved that same authentic, true-to-the-original feeling. I got a nice little surprise when the last episode of the second series played the original theme song of the 1990s series. Can't wait for series 3!
Riding Faith (2020)
Propaganda?
This whole movie just seemed like propaganda from the American Government and the church. Also there is no story line and terrible acting.
