The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
In contrary to all the critics, I have to say: the film is not that bad.
Waited for a long time and finally appeared.
And contrary to all the critics, I have to say: the film is not that bad. And it must also be looked at the film with a different yardstick. That not everything can be reinvented is clear, I think. The first film already did that.

My opinion:
The worst part of the film is the appearance of the Merovingian from parts 2 and 3.
The best part of the film is the in-depth illumination of the relationship between Neo and Trinity.
I think the actors of Smith, Morpheus and co are great.
Some new messages are also included. Well packaged and geared to modern times and the characteristics of people.
There are also some new features, but they could be a bit more future-oriented.

A final sentence: Meanwhile I find it inappropriate when films are already picked apart before their release by "so-called" critics.
Go to the cinema! Make your own picture and do not let the critics take away the fun beforehand.
Tenet (2020)
Absolutely ingenious! Be sure to watch it several times!
Christopher Nolan delivers another punch!
A film that again takes up the topic of time anomaly, but this time much more complex and difficult to understand than
back in "Interstellar".
Although the film has a long running time (2.5 hours), there is so much going on in parallel, interlaced and quickly told that you definitely have to watch the film several times to understand it entirety.
First the obvious in advance:
The cast is superbly selected. The actors are not yet seen dead and offer a more than convincing performance.
The locations are spectacular, exciting and definitely unique. Like in a James Bond movie, only better.
The soundtrack is written by Ludwig Göransson and is simply epic about the film.
No CGI effects visible, elaborate film scenes, perfectly realized.
To the topic:
Simply put, it's about what happens when objects can move backwards through time.
It is not easy to explain but the fact is that anomalies or paradoxes occur.
So if you take a person A, then this person A can cross a so called turnstile in the movie, which reverses the time for him. From the point of view of an observer B, who has not entered the turnstile, this person seems to disappear into nothingness.
Here the anomaly arises: At an earlier point in time there are two people A. One moves forward through the time A+ (up to the turnstile) and the other A- moves backward (from the turnstile), respectively inversely. From the point of view of A+ his second ego A- seems to move backwards. But in this case this is only a question of perspective. Because from the view of A- the whole world, including A+ now moves backwards.
This raises several interesting questions which the film takes up:
1. what happens if A+ and A- meet by chance?
2. isn't it then already predetermined that A+ will enter the turnstile, no matter what he decides?
At this point quote from Neil: "A creed of faith in mechanics" (principle of causality)
Is the decision only a subjective illusion? Neil: "That does not excuse doing nothing"
3. can A- kill his former self A+ or change his past?
Hard to imagine, because how else could the older A- exist. "Grandfather paradox"
The film doesn't go into the technology of these turnstiles, which I don't think is important in view of this interesting topic.
Christopher Nolan uses these questions as the hook of his film. Through the fast narrative style and the filming from different time perspectives he makes this an extremely demanding film with extreme depth!
Treasure Planet (2002)
Off to the spaceport!
Disney classic no. 42
The theme is well chosen: A youngster without prospects ("Jim" Hawkings) and the astrophysicist (Dr. Doppler) embark on a journey to find a lost treasure. This is supposed to be on a remote planet, the treasure planet. By chance Jim comes into possession of a star map which shows the way there. On the journey, Jim has to work under the command of the resolute captain (Amelia), at chef "Silver". And although Mr. Silver does not seem to be a good companion, a trusting partnership develops between the two during the eventful flight.
The ideas for this new Disney universe no. 42 are a bit weird but therefore funny and lovingly animated. An absolute must see for every space-loving child!
The film shines with good dialogue even on the emotional level.
The film music and the film orchestra by James Howard Newton is brilliantly done. You can listen to it again and again.
Actually one of the best Disney animations for me, but seems to lead a bit of a shadowy existence.
The Wretched (2019)
Unfortunately the film is only average
Negative:
- The acting is a little too focused on the main Charakter, acting not so well...
- The suspense and creepy moments are too standardized and are forced upon you with exaggerated music
Affirmative:
- There is a plot twist that I think works really well in the movie.
- I really like the locations
But because it's supposed to be a horror genre I found it a bit too lax regarding the creepy factor.
Return to Zootopia (2017)
A tribute to all Zootopia fans
First of all, I love Zootopia
So I watched this fan sequel with great interest and was very positively surprised.
I don't care about the quality of the animation, because I am aware of the extreme effort behind it. Nevertheless: First of all, the well-known characters from Zootopia are super well met, both in their appearance and their emotions. The animation effort increases more and more during the course of the film.
The soundtrack shows parallels to the original, but follows an individual style, which hits the mood very well. Also here a big praise for this effort.
The story: There are probably two fan camps: One wants Nick and Judy to remain friends, the other wants a more significant relationship between the two. I belong to the latter camp and was positively surprised how well this relationship development was thought out.
This is also true for the framework plot, in which both the rabbit Miles Walker (he wants to become mayor of Zootopia) and the attack on an armadillo, employs Nick and Judy as a new investigator duo.
Big, big praise to Mauricio Velazco for this masterpiece!
Brahms: The Boy II (2020)
Some scary moments but standard
I didn't see the first part until I got to the movies.
In short: low budget, unknown actors, three or four locations, camera work horror standard.
The boy's mother plays her role surprisingly well, while the father plays the, well, rather (horror movie typical) carefree.
There are scary moments, but they probably worked because a friend and I were alone in the cinema ;)
Conclusion: I don't have to see it again, it was rather the lower average
The Hunt (2020)
Non convincing at all
Cross my heart... it wasn't anything famous.
Action: yes okay, it was there, but it seems to be very forced because of the very thin story.
Apropos story: well, with the playing time you don't need to expect much, but the whole plot seems unbelievable, because the background of this hunt is not discussed.
Splatter is there, of course the movie lives from it, but that's why over 18? I can't quite understand that.
I can't think of anything to say about the pig.
The film has a tipping point that would have had the potential for real tension (Crystal finds out where it is). Unfortunately, the film drifts too fast into the predictable again.
Maybe I don't really understand the satire at this point, but the level of humour is rather limited.
The Vigil (2019)
Exotic amitious horror movie
I have seen the film in the cinema and after the promising trailer I was also very excited about it.
The mood of the film is very dark, the tension level is high throughout. The creepy effects suffer from the camera work, because this movie is shot so dark that you just can't see anything.
The protagonist Yakov is played very convincingly by Dave Davies, so that you can really put yourself in his place.
On the positive side: The story takes a lot of time in the beginning, but then it convinces with its credibility.
The horror the movie is about is portrayed in a very abstract way and there is no final explanation, which is something I think is always good in the horror genre.
It's a pity, though, that the other actors remain rather marginal figures and thus the movie becomes a one-man show around the protagonist.
Conclusion: Not an easy fare, but you can see that. A bit of an exotic among horror movies.
Inside Out (2015)
A proove that innovation knows no borders
