I really don't get how this movie could have gotten such poor reviews. It was witty, entertaining, original, and exciting. Such a night playing during the robbery was especially fun to watch.

The one question I have is when Cybil drives up to the money launderer, J. Peterson in her grandmother's Valiant, then Michael drives up to the same place in the stolen truck, why would Michael not leave with the Valiant instead of the stolen truck? He would never have landed in jail.. I suppose the story needed that to happen. LoL.

All in all very good flick and worth seeing.

Very beautiful story and I was pleased that it remained true to the book, except for a couple of things. 1st, the film is thick with spanish moss, which does not grow in NC. 2nd, the complete lack of mention of the poet Amanda Hamilton really took away from part of who she was in my opinion. 3rd, they changed the entire setting of her participation in Jumpins funeral. She did not go in the book, rather grieved for him privately and with his widow, which is truer to her nature. And 4th, the movie version did not address her vast accomplishments as a biologist and author, or the improvements to the shack with building of the lab etc. They painted the shack which was a big point for Kya not to do in the book. For the most part it was a great movie I just felt these few things took away from the story. The young actress who plays Kya, reminded me of a young Sandra Bullock. All in all a very good film and worth seeing.

It is inaccurate to portray General Sherman as burning Savannah. He burned everything in his infamous March to the Sea. However, Savannah was spared and given as a Christmas gift to President Lincoln. There were a few fires during the occupation, but Sherman was long gone by then.

Savannah is and was a major port and the union needed it.

WHO KILLED BUDDY AND WHY DON'T WE EVER FIND OUT? Other than that I thought it was a great movie
