Into the Deep (2020)
R.I.P Kim Wall
I followed this case a long while before I even knew this documentary was going to be released. It was a shocking and somewhat fascinating case where a man of such genius could be capable of the things he did to such an innocent woman. That being said I was prepared for this documentary to shine a lot of light on the events that took place at sea the day Kim Wall was brutally murdered. Instead we get...... this.
For starters the timeline is everywhere. Hops from the day of the murder, to 2 weeks before, to 7 months after, to 11 months before and during this time you know this scum of the earth and dictator Peter Madsen has committed this terrible crime and instead of showing the events that took place in the aftermath I have to go back 11 months and watch him be idolized and making a freaking rocket? At that point I don't give a damn. How are you going to insinuate someone decapitated an innocent woman and then force us to rewind and watch him be praised? They didn't even go into details about the ACTUAL murder and the severity of it. I felt like I watched a documentary on " the wonderful Peter Madsen and all his accomplishments, oh and also he killed a chick." So disrespectful to the family and loved ones of Kim Wall- not to mention the poor saps of interns and volunteers that actually followed and believed in this man.
Also the fake face CGI? Really? Just blur it. We don't even know who this woman (not referring to the victim) is or care who she is for that matter and she ends up being a massive part of the documentary. The lack of the victim shown in this film is honestly sick.
Goodnight Mommy (2022)
From an American
Why.. WHY must Hollywood absolutely obliterate foreign films? Do we have to take over everything? There was nothing wrong with the original from 2014. Creepy right off the bat, the Mother in the original barely had any lines and that alone put you on edge wondering why she was so mysterious. In this remake- Mother is watching movies, actively on the phone, feeling herself/dancing in front of mirrors- just STOP. Naomi Watts must have been hard up for some cash because what the hell.
0 creepiness. Just some bi**h mother being conceited. Was the original a total work of art? No, but compared to this dumpster fire it is.
It's also painfully obvious what the twist is gonna be from the beginning. At least, YES I WILL KEEP COMPARING IT, in the original you had no idea what was gonna happen or where the film was going. It just sucks- it wasn't even NEEDED. Damnit Hollywood, just leave well enough alone! I only gave it 2 stars in hopes people would see this and see it was a remake, thus gaining more attention for the original.
The Eyes of My Mother (2016)
Pretentious
Listen I am not above watching a movie in black and white. I'm a sub VS dub kind of person for God's sake. But man when I tell you I was praying at some point for them to just turn the color on.. this film was made in 2016. Who the hell willingly wants to watch a movie in black and white? I can definitely see why people compare this to Eraserhead.. but we really only need one movie like that. The gore was awesome and probably the only thing I really enjoyed about the movie. Other than it's shorter run time... I can't even begin to enjoy a film if I cannot stand the main character and unfortunately she's all we really have throughout the film. Barely any dialog at all and I was questioning scenes and their reasonings after like 10 minutes in. People are PRAISING this movie so if you wanna take that leap go ahead. Just don't say any of us "low raters" didn't try to warn you.
Unhinged (2020)
Steaming pile of
What in the hell is this movie. I physically cannot bring myself to type out all of the things wrong with it. The only reason I gave the 2 stars is because Russell Crowe is the freakin man. Just such a terrible movie I cannot believe it got an overall 6/10. I'm begging- BEGGING you. Just don't.
Shame (2011)
Pure disappointment
Wow. I had seen this movie constantly pop up on tiktok so I went super out of my way to watch it.. I can't tell if the whole concept just flew right over my head or if this movie really is the steaming pile of garbage I think it is. So many questions left unanswered- sllloooowwwwww burn with a sudden dramatic ending that comes outta nowhere, 0 character development, dragged out scenes, I mean really? What a waste of time. Michael Fassbender is great for whatever the hell kinda roll this is, but other than that.. avoid.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
So bad
I had such freakin high hopes for this movie. I'm a huge fan of the Resident Films (give or take a few duds), and the games. Horrible characters and subpar acting- they turned Leon (who's actor isn't even blonde for gods sake) into a cowardly idiot who doesn't even know how to properly use a gun, Wesker is a goofy police officer, and the cgi.... My god... the cgi zombie hounds are so bad. There's even cgi blood- doesn't it cost more to use cgi than just basic effects??? The zombies also don't even look like zombies.. they just look... bloated? Don't waste your time- I used a pirate site to watch this and thank god I did because I'd be pissed if I had to spend money to see this.
I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013)
5.7/10??? Really???
Listen, this film is NOT for everyone. This is one sick piece of cinema- that should definitely be known before watching. HOWEVER, I feel like everyone who left a review on this film were indeed people that don't care for those types of movies, because I do not understand how it could be rated so poorly! The main actress is absolutely amazing and her performance is astounding along with everyone else in the film! All so convincing- everyone I was supposed to hate I hated and everyone I was supposed to cheer for I cheered! If you're not into sick, disturbing, scary horror films then this is not for you and for the love of God stay away. If you're a horror fanatic like me.. enjoy.
The Dark and the Wicked (2020)
Great horror film for 2020
With new horror content coming out I really don't expect much except bad CGI, dumb characters with no backstory, and a storyline that falls flat. Having said that, this film (aside from one bad CGI scene) exceeds all those expectations! Not sure why most of these reviews state there's no storyline.. did y'all even watch the movie? The storyline was the scariest part!! It's definitely a slow burn.
Saint Maud (2019)
Definitely wish I had read the reviews first
I mean it's just nothing to write home about. Kind of lingered on and I kept checking how long was left because not much had happened. I had really high hopes for this movie when I first saw the trailer and it was just added to Hulu so I was excited to see it. Yeah, immediate regret. Some jump-scary scenes, but more of a thriller than a "horror" movie. Would not recommend to fellow horror lovers.
The Loved Ones (2009)
Why all the bad reviews???
Heard about this movie on TikTok, not gonna lie. Saw it had a pretty decent rating but I have to admit about 20 min in outta curiosity I came to check user reviews and majority were 1-3/10!? After that I was pretty wary but the movie continued to surprise me!! I really enjoyed it as a horror fan. The music was eerie, the gore was intense, the character development was awesome for it being less than an hour 30 min film. Even the sec scene was mint!! Definitely an "out there" psychedelic movie, but the scenes came off as creepy never cringy!! Will recommend and prob watch again.
No Escape (2015)
Owen freakin Wilson
Like most of the reviews here, I too am blown away by Owen Wilson's performance. In movies such as You, Me, and Dupree or Wedding Crashers where Wilson plays more of a goofy half-assed character, it's safe to say I was super impressed. Yes the child actors are pretty annoying, but who REALLY knows how a couple white kids in a situation like this would honestly act? I would recommend this movie not just for the storyline or Owen Wilson's incredible acting but mainly for the way they so successfully portray the panic and hysteria that comes in huge waves in this movie. Absolutely amazing- quickly moved to my top 10 movie list.
