Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver (2024)
Absolutely Putrid
What a horrible movie. The first one was a hot mess, but somehow, this one was worse. I've never seen such an overuse of slow motion. It has ruined that effect for me now. Going forward, whenever I see something in slow motion, I will think of this garbage. I don't understand how a fairly decent writer/director can be given a freight train full of cash and produce 2 absolutely putrid movies. I will be extremely hesitant to watch anything from Zack Snyder in the future. I honestly can't believe how bad these movies were. They make the worst Star Wars films look like masterpieces. If you feel like watching something, pick literally anything else. Just crap.
Road House (2024)
Very well could've been rated higher.
Replace Connor McGregor with someone likeable and has at least a little bit of acting prowess and this could've been a 9 or 10/10. He's terrible in real life and was abysmal in this. A pile of wet sand could act better than him.
Besides that, solid film with solid performances. Jake Gyllenhaal is very good in this and the way the fight scenes were done were very different and absolutely fantastic. Really added a lot to the film.
It's a shame some of these cinema worthy films are being forced through streamers. This is definitely one that would've been great to see on the big screen with those awesome fight scenes.
Jack Ryan: Proof of Concept (2023)
What an ending!
As far as endings go, this one is up there with the best. It's very hard to satisfy everyone with the final episode of a series, and that may still be the case with this one. But as far as I'm concerned, this final season and final episode were absolutely brilliant. Sure, there were some big bad reveals that could be picked a mile away, but it still offered up some good twists and turns and showcased what unforeseen circumstances can arise from corruption and greed. As a non American, a lot of what I know about the country comes from film, TV and what I see on the news, but god damn, I hope there are actually people that are even just slightly as decent Jack Ryan over there 😂
Secret Invasion (2023)
When will something happen?
I've just about given up on expecting anything being good from Marvel anymore. Half way through a show that's loosely based on an epic comic book arc and dead set nothing has happened! We've got a boring old Nick Fury and a whole bunch of things that are supposedly about to be happening but we've seen none of it. We're getting the suspenseful music like something is coming, then the episode ends. Next episode comes and you think we'll see whatever the previous episode was building up to, but no, nothing. You could probably almost skip episode 3 and go right into episode 4 none the wiser. With the exception of maybe 3 or 4 movies, it's amazing how far the quality has fallen since Endgame. It's like they're not even trying anymore.
Nope (2022)
Horrible and boring.
I have nothing more I want to add, but there's a character limit, so I have to. If there are subliminal messages in this movie, they're lost on me. All I can take out of it is that it was horribly boring and that Jordan Peele must have some incriminating pictures of studio execs to keep getting permission to make his horrible, stupid, boring movies. The main actor has the emotional range of a potato in everything I've seen him in and I just can't understand how he gets cast in movies. Maybe he has copies of the incriminating pictures as well? If I paid to watch this movie, I'd be livid. I'm annoyed enough after watching it for free. Horrible movie.
The Simpsons: Bart the Bad Guy (2020)
Absolutely horrible Australian accent.
Is it really that hard to find an Aussie to do voice work? I don't think The Simpsons has ever hired anyone to play an Aussie that wasn't terrible at it. Just because you get some idiot to name some of our wildlife in their sentences, it doesn't mean that makes them sound more Australian. Seriously!
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Horrible
This was an absolute waste of an opportunity. This didn't even hit the mark for nostalgic value. This is in the same basket as Independence Day 2 where they had about 2 decades to get it done right, but ended up putting out a trash movie that seems to have had zero thought out into it. I was so excited for this and ended up being almost the most disappointed I've ever been.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
How was this made?
10 minutes into the first episode, and I'm done. Extremely poor acting, weak story and just overall terrible. Amazon shows are either really good like The Boys or Invincible, or really really bad like this one, there is no middle ground. Horrid.
Dave: The Observer (2021)
Awesome first season, now this.
This season has been a complete let down compared to the first. Especially this episode. This episode was terrible from start to finish.
Iron Man Three (2013)
Opportunity Wasted
As with most Shane Black films, he enters an established franchise and ruins it (I'm looking at you, The Predator). Ben Kingsley was the perfect casting for The Mandarin but good old Shane made him a joke. By far the worst MCU movie to date, and this post comes after Far From Home, so all movies are compared.
