Great mystery-style plot in a Tolkien setting. Perfect.
13 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm grateful to have a new Tolkien / Lord of the Rings / Hobbit / Rings of Power tv show. TV Shows are more entertainment than just a 1.5 hour movie. The story is full of clever surprises and sets my imagination on fire! Thanks to all who produced this wonderful show.

SPOILER ALERT For example, if you look carefully, the goblin army being led by the dark elf starts near Mount Doom and digs a trench towards the human towns, enslaving them to dig or killing and eating them as they go. The trench with hides as a roof allows the sun-vulnerable goblins to safely advance their army and not have to retreat to the caves of Mount Doom each day. Good plan right? But it gets even better because the trench actually has two purposes. The other is to channel water from far away INTO the heart of Mount Doom and cause an eruption that blankets the region in darkness so that the goblins can roam free. Brilliant writing.

Rebel becomes government boot-licker
6 January 2016
This is your typical movie like "Fast and Furious" or XXX where the rebellious youths end up working for the government. It feeds the pathetic and immature desires to "fit in" and "be liked" by those more powerful than you. I'd love to see one of these types of movies go full out Rebellion for a change instead of groveling to the government for their table scraps. The pace of the movie is good and makes this an acceptable watch if you are sick one day and need a dozen movies you've never seen yet. The actors were skilled, especially the lead. The director is not responsible for the story-line either so he gets credit for making the movie a passable watch.

FIND the time to be a father
19 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is actually a beautifully told story about the consequences of failing as a parent. The father neglects his boy drinking and watching TV. The mother ditched both her husband and boy at the beginning of the movie. You reap what you sow with kids. Give them guidance and ask them if they are happy. The father in this movie asked more questions than he gave guidance with crap like "You know why I'm doing this don't you?" Uhm...NO, he's a 9 year old. Or "There are some kids coming to celebrate prom. We're going to let boys be boys and girls be girls, know what I mean?" Uhm...NO, he's a 9 year old. The finale is worthy of Hannibal.
