Jesus Revolution (2023)
Not Your Average Christian Movie
I came in expecting a decent, well acted Christian film based on the reviews that I had read. I left, moved to tears. The acting was superb. The script was excellent. The music was great more importantly, the story was powerful. This is not your average low budget Christian film. It wasn't cast with one decent actor, surrounded by fillers.
Each actor held their own. I felt like I was experiencing firsthand the Jesus revolution that started in California and spread across the country.
It also didn't paint a completely rosy picture of that movement. It was filled with excitement, drama, and even real disappointments. I would highly recommend this movie to any Christian and non-Christian alike.
American Underdog (2021)
Inspiring
This movie stayed true to the central character's life stories. The film is as much about Kurt Warner's wife as it is about him. I felt her struggles and her "trust" fears as much as his own struggles for relevance. The acting is superb. The film starts slowly, but does a great job of developing their story. It has just enough football to satisfy diehard fans. But is is far more than just a "football movie."
The Widow: Nigel (2019)
One Too Many
Overall, the series was good. But Episode 7 should have been the conclusion. The last episode could have tied everything together in 15 minutes. They spread it out over 48 minutes. I will say, the acting throughout the entire series was excellent.
Manifest: Compass Calibration (2021)
Getting Tired
Too many "callings," too much relational drama, and really bad secondary actors. You can only take a story so far. Just like "Lost," in season 5, it's run out of steam. I'll finish this season, but that's it.
Manifest (2018)
Intriguing Story
The series keeps you interested, but not on the edge of your seat. The script is well written, with Christian imagery, sub plots, and all the drama you could hope for. The central characters are believable, even if the plot gets murky. The special effects are average. The caliber of the acting diminishes once you get past the main characters. Also, a series is less effective when everyone is dressed perfectly, and every car is brand new.
Away (2020)
Away...Like Stay Away
I hesitate even giving this one star. This is no more than an expensive soap opera set in space...well on earth also. After about Episode 3,
I wanted to watch a Hallmark movie...that's how bad this is!! Oh...and cell phone calls....endless cell phone calls from space to earth...really?
