Andor: Announcement (2022)
"That's love... nothing you can do about it"
This show is the best written Star Wars show ever. Rivals empire with regard to pacing and writing.
Everything at the ISB has me hooked and at the edge of my seat. Fantastic writers and cinematographers and directors that need to do more Star Wars projects in the future!
Great job Disney, this is what we wanted to see!
"But I'll worry about you", "That's love, nothing you can do about it". This line hit hard and felt so visceral. I wish more shows were able to convey themselves in this way. Can't wait to see how things pick up in the next few episodes.
You have a fan in my wife and I, please keep up the great work.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: The Eye (2022)
Cringy dialogue, pseudo profound
Bad follow up to an otherwise decent previous episode.
They need to tone it down with the wannabe profound dialogue. It's embarrassingly cringy at times and doesn't serve the story to overdramatize certain moments. Overall the pacing was horrendous. I have no idea why this whole season for the harfoots was devoted to 'find tall Man, send tall man away' and nothing else. No answers to any of the mysteries there.
Penultimate episodes need to up the ante and make us want to watch the finale. I have no idea what this episode was served to do.
Very disappointed in how they are rounding up the season.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: Mean, Green, and Straight Poured into These Jeans (2022)
Oh no.
I genuinely have enjoyed some of the previous episodes but this one was horrible. Bad writing and pacing. Just boring overall. Very disappointed in the way the show is going. They had a chance to handle Titania in a much better way instead they went with this silly route. A person who breaks into a courtroom and attacks people isn't just let out of remand or jail.
Absolute nonsense from Feige and the team. The quality of the MCU has dipped a lot this year. Ms Marvel was decent but even the villains were badly done in that.
Will watch the next episode when it comes out but my wife and I are pretty fed up with this show.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part VI (2022)
C Team writers, director and ILM staff. Very disappointing
Bad writing. Why cut to reva in the middle of anakin and obis showdown? Why build tension in the reva chase when we know Luke and his uncle and aunt live?
The Duel was good but badly directed. What was that too down shot filmed like the camera was held by someone drunk? Ek.
The cgi for obiwans ship in front of vaders- laughable. The ship changing directions looked terrible.
Why have a rematch duel and not use the soundtrack from the prequels? Where is vaders marching theme?? All these things are owned by Disney so why not use the licensing for it!
There should have been way more flashbacks, more moments of obiwan and anakin talking to each other as brothers and friends... just so the audience can be reminded of the connection they had. Instead we got stuck with piss poor writing and a character like reva that has unusual motivations, not fleshed out and is irrationally angry every time we see her on screen.
The pluses:
1) I really did like the actress playing leia. It's difficult to find talented child actors and I think she was charming.
2) Ewan McGregor - not much to say here, speaks for itself
3) Vader - but I feel he was badly directed. Gareth edwards did a much better job.
4) The actors playing Owen and Indira Varma.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part V (2022)
Badly written
Why write reva as someone who is willing to let other children die in the former episodes if she's someone who clearly wants to kill Vader. She should've been the most empathetic of the inquisitors instead she's written to be the most ruthless but apparently she also wants revenge on Vader. Ridiculous.
Why write the scene where obiwan has to give up, then speak to her and come back to the hanger? Also ridiculous. Badly written.
The directing is amateurish. Deborah chow is way in over her head.
The flashback scene while good, could've been more fleshed out with more speaking and actual acting.
The good: Vader is suppose, but even then he was directed badly. Gareth edwards did a much better job of it.
Very disappointing series overall.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach (2022)
Wow! What a moral conundrum!
So beautifully written! Pike willingly gives up his chance for treatment one day. The child was like-able and the pacing was great.
Very well done team! Please keep up this quality!
Halo: Transcendence (2022)
Beautiful and sad
This is what the whole season should have been like! Get new screenwriters and find a way to make the season shorter if it's a budget issue. Kwans storyline was a waste of money.
Excited to see the fall of reach next season and hopefully more of the actual halo and the flood if we're lucky.
The ending is bittersweet because as fans this is what we wanted chief to be heroic but also stoic and less human... and now that we've gotten it by the end it feels almost sad.
Let's see how they take it from here.
Halo: Homecoming (2022)
Wow terrible CGI and boring story!
I'm very disappointed in the show. They could've handled the storylines so much better and tightened up the show a bit. Unnecessary scenes and following uninteresting characters. Why did the show runners feel this episode would work? Very badly done and each successive episode is getting worse and worse.
Halo: Contact (2022)
So much lore to pull from and the writers chose to follow nothing
Why take such an interesting and deep story with lore that spans between books and games... years of good story... and just ignore it completely? How could the writers do this?
1) poorly directed action
2) bad cgi in the opening sequence (TMNT bad)
3) apathetic Spartans
4) removing chiefs helmet
5) the UNSC being tyrants basically (which I can understand to an extent, but they're painted in a really bad light)
6) people who've seen the second episode say it gets WORSE
Watch angry joes review on YouTube... the list is LONG.
Is It Cake? (2022)
Netflix guilty pleasure with a badly cast host
We love Mikey Day in SNL but this gig does not suit him. The host needs to be charismatic, friendly, fun... not awkward and speaking with loud tones with no inflection to his voice.
Very disappointed. Even Kenan would've been a great choice.
Inventing Anna: Dangerously Close (2022)
Shonda trying to make a scam artist likeable
I can't believe that they made Anna look like she was innocent and they made her lawyer and the journalist both root for her (the lawyer I get but not the journalist).
Utter trash of a tv show. Shame on you Shonda for trying to make a con artist who scammed so many people as being the victim.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor (2022)
Horrible directing by Rodriguez
Wow, terrible action scenes yet again. So disappointed. The rancor scenes were good, but everything else fell flat...
No proper tactics by the seasoned veterans and bounty hunters.
Terrible show, poor writing, poor character arcs.
Murderville: Murder by Soup (2022)
Oh no
They need to pick actors and actresses who some background in improv and are naturally funny. Annie Murphy is talented as an actress I'm sure and she's great in Schitts Creek... but her improv is terrible. Disappointing episode. She didn't even try.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm (2022)
Beautifully directed but boring plot as usual
I love it when anyone other than Robert Rodriguez is directing... his episodes are weak and poorly directed. This was the second best episode of the season (which isn't saying much).
I liked the cinematography and directing for this episode. The mortal kombat YouTube series director is a great fit for Star Wars.
Sad to see how poorly paced the plot is. They could've done so much more with a crime syndicate plot line.
Let's see how the next episode looks... hopefully we'll see a familiar face coming in...
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa (2022)
Rodriguez is a really really bad director
His directing of chase scenes, fight scenes has been horrible.
I can't believe lucasfilm is okay with this crap.
No story worth following, no good action, no good chase scenes.
No wonder marketing has been so poor for this, they want to sweep this under the rug. Terrible for favreau to have green lit this director. Waste of time honestly.
Wife and I have loved watching the mandalorian, but can't stand how slow this series is. The directing is terrible terrible terrible!
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 1: Stranger in a Strange Land (2021)
Bad action scenes
Robert Rodriguez is really bad at directing Star Wars action scenes. Extremely poorly directed. It was poorly paced as well. No hook at all.
No wonder the marketing has been so poor for it. They've had nothing to really show.
Ted Lasso: Rainbow (2021)
Wow.
Not just one of the best episodes of the show, but also one of the best episodes of any show ever. Beautiful written, great narrative, superb directing... wow.
Well done writers! Well done actors and actresses! Well done director!
Just amazing. Wife and I watched this episode twice!
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Really really good!
I liked the changes they made to the traditional MK story! The fighting was amazing, I'm glad they didn't spoil it in the trailers.
If you're a fan of MK you'll enjoy the movie for sure. Kano is the best part of it. I wish they had more of a budget to handle outworld better but I'm sure they'll fix that in the sequel.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive (2019)
Where is George's big moment?????
What's wrong with the production team? Honestly. How could they just sweep past the Turkish gp? Extremely poor decision by the producers. Very disappointed with this season. It had the potential to be one of the best seasons. During the year we talked amongst friends about how this would be the best DTS season. Sadly the producers didn't know what to focus on.
The Croods: A New Age (2020)
Funny from start to finish!
We loved the sillyness of the humour! Completely up our alley... we hope you end up having a similar experience!
This is one of the funniest movies of the year!
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Oh no
I really wanted to like this. I loved the first one and patty is a good director but she isn't a very good writer when it comes to plot, this wasn't very good.
I liked maxwells character and the fact that there wasn't a "boss fight" at the end with him, but very little stood out.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Disappointing.
How did they drop the ball so hard?
Kathleen Kennedy really messed up. I have no idea why she's still at the company.
Pathetic storyline and pathetic excuse for a movie.
Get Organized with the Home Edit (2020)
Boring. Very badly edited.
I respect the team for the work they do and I'm sure it's a lucrative business but it makes for REALLY REALLY BAD TV.
My wife and I tried to get into it but we just couldn't.
Way too much shouting and shrill screaming... I like the upbeat attitude of the hosts but it can be difficult to listen to everyone talking over each other for 30+ minutes straight.
The organisation itself is really simple. Nothing complex and no big makeovers (Everything centers around one room). Disappointed in the low production value.
