Trigun Stampede (2023– )

My first impression
22 February 2023
First of: The obvious review bombing for the show is insane! Im 100% sure some people dont even give this a single(!) fair chance and go "3D bad!!"+"The OG Trigun rules" and give it an unreasonable low score. My first impression on the other hand is actually very positive! I have rarely seen an anime with such an kinetic style. The action is plenty, the camera goes wild, great sound design and the characters show so much emotion in their expressions and movements. This show is directed skillfully, just like Studio Orange's Land of the Lusterous. The criticism I have is that it basically tells you a lot of stuff in the beginning that could have made for good reveals. You should give at least the first episode a fair chance. Just dont expect the old Trigun. The first episode alone is such a blast!

Fear the Walking Dead: The Raft (2022)
Season 7, Episode 13

Most useless character award goes to:
19 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Micky! She joined the black raiders, only to never help them.. On the other hand Im glad because the wrestling episode is one of the worst! Writing is trash again. Wes 180° into literal super villain is out of character, unfitting, stupid and just a nightmare to watch. Also Sherry and Dwight arguing ALL THE TIME ABOUT THE SAME STUFF SINCE THEIR REUNION is just tiresome! Dont get me started on the plot progression because Morgan just leaves before the big fight starts. The cover on amazon prime is literally Morgan and Strand screaming at each other. Now Morgan pretty much wont be there for the rest of the season I imagine... Aside that the episode is 95% very uninteresting dialogue and 5% zombies which dont do a lot..

Writing is trash
19 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I hate the writing of recent episodes and this one is no exception. I think the biggest offense are 1. John not killing Strand although he had a bullet left and even said so 2. Magical walkie-talkie: John just immediately speaks into Strand's walkie and Morgan is on the line 3. WES BEING COMPLETELY OUT OF CHARACTER. He painted trees, had to kill his brother because of a cult. And now left Lucianna because she lied to Daniel, only TO JOIN STRAND AND WANTING TO BE HIS ASSISTENT???? Strand is a cult leader himself and how is this ANY better than being with Lucianna????

I gave 2 stars not 1 because at least I liked the look of the episode, especially the rainy first part.

Disliked it

Warning: Spoilers
Im sorry, if I come across like a hater, but Im absolutely not. I defended and liked many episodes of Fear the Walking Dead. That being said, I didnt finish the episode and stopped after like 12min. Why? Because the writing bothers me like crazy. I think the look and cinematography are alright, but the "story" is garbage. This season we had wrestling zombies, a guy who is a deaf musician and now the episode starts with a guy searching for a butterfly, followed by Charlie searching for elevator spare parts...????? This is the nuclear apocalypse and we get these type of nonsense storys?

Warning: Spoilers
Im a fan of the Walking Dead and also defended Fear many times because to me it was at least a good quilty pleasure. This season is just bs. This episode is one of the worst.. Nonestop talking, uninteresting dialogue stupid af story and even the direction, which I often found the redeeming factor isnt anything good About the episode: Its a dude whos deaf and is a musician in the nuclear apocalypse and he plays the freakin bagpipe to safe Alicia.

Mixed bag

This is episode isnt really bad and it serves as a nice introduction to new character conflicts, which I like. But the tonal shift is waaay to abrupt. Last episode and the last arc overall was full of despair and death and now we are thrown into a completely different story and environment immediately with no progression.

Overall I rate this episode with 7 only because I think that this episode is a good introduction to the common wealth despite the abrupt change in setting.

The Walking Dead: No Other Way (2022)
Season 11, Episode 9

One of the most entertaining episodes of the franchise
5 March 2022
To simply put it: It was a blast. This episode is the conclusion of the reapers arc. Yes, the criticism is valid, that the reapers kinda felt like filler, BUT to me it was still enjoyable. The reapers really seemed ruthless and especially this episode is filled to the brim with action, gore and death. The fight scenes here are amongst the best choreographed fights in the franchise. That's where a lot of tension builds up and you really want our characters to win. Although I wasnt a huge Maggie fan, Maggie is a stand out this episode!! Also I liked the emotional parts and we get a conclusion to the fate of a well known character.

Started very very bad ended amazing
7 December 2021
It is a mirical after the awful first season, that especially the second half of s2 turned it out. In my view Pollyanna McIntosh saved the show almost single-handedly because her acting is A++.

And that end credit scene is a game changer. Some will dislike it, which I understand, but after a billion seasons of WD I was enormously suprised, that they would tease radical new ideas.

My criticism would be some illogical/stupid stuff like the fight scenes or the time bomb made out of a watch.

Amazing Cinema
26 July 2021
This movie hit me personal and is very special. It's such a Lana del Rey 80s summer gay fantasy.

Besides the obvious best scenes like the bathroom scene after the fair fight and the freak out and dance on the grave. My favourite thing is that David and his mom call Alexis rabbit all the time. Which is an allegory for being innocent and cute looking, but also rabbits are known to be very sexual.

Plus the acting and camera in this movie are phenomenal. And the sexual tension is 🤒 from minute 1. Also Alexis voice actor in the german dub did a perfect job. I dont know if it is the same in french, but Alex always sounded so shy and innocent.

Great acting, but the writing has some flaws
19 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The coincidences were way to crazy this epsiode. Like meeting Johns father and Johns father hunting Teddy.

And I also dont understand Sherry's motivations at all. Like, Negan isnt a thing anymore and a cool Dwight is standing right in front of you.. On the positive site I really love John Sr. The actor is awesome and has a lot of charisma. I hope he stays for s7. I like June because John's death gave the character way more life and motivation and we have John 2.0. The best of both worlds.

But the writing has to improve in my opinion. The season is still really enjoyable, but the Daniel, Grace and now this episode left a lot to be desired when it comes to the writing.

Mixed bag
12 May 2021
Im a 100% supportive of the mixed and negative reviews. This episode doesnt fit TWD. Its way too fantasy/mystical. The writing is pretty bad in many instances. The writing feels like a S5 epsiode.

Why I rated this 7 and whats safes this episode for me personally, is the amazing set design, vfx, cinematography and acting for what was given to them. Grace's actress is really amazing and underrated. This isnt the worst episode ever like some stated (dont forget stuff like the vultures or beer drinking bs from s4 or the pseudo documentary epsiodes from 5.) Im a bit disappointed because Grace's epsiode had a lot of potential. And I have an awful prediction which I hope isnt true. I could imagine AMC hired script doctors to save 6A after the bad S5 reception. And now in S6B Ian and Andrew do the story by their own again. The Daniel and now this Grace episode just feel off when it comes to the writing.

Really good Wes episode with gripping dialog
4 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really really enjoyed this episode because the dialog was very exciting. I really felt with Wes because I have a brother as well who is extremely important to me. It is such an interesting thought experiment: Imagine finding your long lost brother, only to discover he isnt the person you used to know. This episode has less action, but which I really didnt mind. Im just very suprised that they actually made a good Wes episode. And whats even more suprising with the season overall is that they perfectly tie in the prior seasons. I mean this time they made this bad Season 5 Wes episode work very well as an establishing episode for this one.

Furthermore I like that you worry about Alicia now because you now know that this group is capable of letting to brothers turn on each other.

The only thing I dont like is that Dakota is annoying with her constant "I want to help" after she f'ed up real hard. Noone likes you, you killer.

Not the best but still awesome
23 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Personally this episode didnt quite strike me like the majority of the others did. Dont get me wrong, I think the directing and ideas inspired by the texas chainsaw massacre were cool and I also enjoy, that there is a nice "Negan-esque" build up for the next episode, which is the real mid-season finale. I also enjoyed the dialog between Morgan and Alicia because you ask yourself the question aswell "What would you do with Dakota?" And also Charlie was good in this episode(I know that these words are forbidden here) But overall the texas chainsaw theme felt more like a cool idea in the heads of the writers than actually serving any narrative purpose.

All in all Im just happy that Fear is awesome again and we can enjoy it together😊 In addition I love that they fully realized so many various ideas this season with great production design, cinematography, writing and acting. Hope 6B is as great as A!

Mildly enjoyable but flawed
23 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In my view the last 2 episode were ok. I think the mystery around what happened to Tony and the character conflicts are kinda interesting and also the cinematography of the "present" this epsiode is ok. This episode and the last felt more like a Walking Dead show and not like Dora the Explorer. The biggest problem of the show in general is that the flashbacks (even though a little enjoyable themselfs this time and last) slow down the tempo of the show extremely!! At least half of the runtime this episode was dedicated to flashbacks of Silas and we even got flashbacks WITHIN the flashbacks. What actually happened in the episode could be summed up in 2 short sentences and you wouldnt miss any information. They strech out their thin ideas with adding thousands of flashbacks. Like I said the flashbacks CAN be enjoyable by themself, but the overabundance make them feel like an obstacle or burden to overcome in order to see more of the actual episode.

That was brilliant.
16 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
People always keep telling "This is the best epsiode yet" after the new drops. But they are right. This epsiode has season final quality in my opinion. Star of this episode are really the outstanding set design and cinematography. Seriously I cant believe this is a show in its 6th season and with 2 prior bad seasons. When June is talking to Virginia in the cabin with that bright red orange light in the backround, it could have been a scene from an arthouse movie (I watch a lot of them) Speaking of which if you didnt like June or Virginia, you can finally fully appreciate their characters. I wanted the episode to go much longer because it was so good. I really hope Fear gets renewed for more seasons and keeps that quality. This season has the potential to be better than the main show.

Mixed Bag
15 November 2020
I think this epsiode has some of the best parts and some of the worst parts of the season so far. Yes, we get more flashbacks. This time from Huck, but in my view her flashbacks actually were very interesting and her backstory fitted very well with the narrative of the epsiode. For the first time the flashbacks dont feel completely forced into the episode. After that epsiode I kinda think that Huck is interesting. Now to the bad. I never lightly use the word cringe. Cringe is an overused word today. That being said, I cringed everytime Iris and Percy were flirting and Silas looking pissed in every tiny situation. That whole plot felt like it was taken from a show aimed at pre-teens.. At least the ending is kinda interesting. Someone finally dies. The biggest problem with the show in general is, that the plot is paper thin. Everything that happened until now could have been compressed into 2-3 episode really.. Also what is up with people calling the cinematography on point? It isnt really bad and in this episode it is sometimes even good, but in general it is very generic. Dont you watch any other shows? Compare this to the new epsiodes of Fear S6. There is a night and day difference in cinematographic effort.

Not the best of the season but still pretty great
9 November 2020
The writing of this episode is great. And also the chase scene reminded me of old western, where bandits would rob stage coachs. But it wasnt as crazy good as for example last episode. But tbh not every episode needs to scream masterpiece. Im just really happy that Fear is so good again. The writing completely changed to the better. The show is very suspenseful and keeps you wanting to see more!

Still pretty bad but to me there are some bright spots
9 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I think the new character Percy is actually a good character in my view. The acting of him is suprisingly pretty good. But his good acting shows how bad and unrealistic the main cast comes across in comparison. Silas is such a boring, unlikeable and bad character. And Iris flirting with Percy and basically telling her whole life story to a stranger felt so cringy and stupid. I liked the story of the ep at first, because I hoped the group had to do some tough calls and maybe kill someone. But nah, the epsiode goes down the drain towards the end and everybody is nice to each other. That's not what The Walking Dead is about.. I know that Im going to get downvotes for saying something remotely good about the episode, but kerp in mind that is just my view and Im still not enjoying the show really..

Actually amazing writing
2 November 2020
You dont need 100 Walkers every 2sec to make a good episode and this episode shows it! The writing of this episode is suspenseful and simultaniously gives John Dorie a lot of character development. The writing and acting feels realistic. You are rooting for John, but at the end we know how things work out in the Walking dead universe and the episode gets pretty dark and shocking. They also did a good job with the side characters, especially Janis. To conclude another great episode with an special focus on the good writing and acting. Also the Morgan scene at the end was really nice. Hope Morgan keeps this personality.

Fantastic Epsiode
29 October 2020
The season is slowly shaping up to be really amazing. I almost like this epsiode better than the pilot of s6. It is hands down the best Al episode ever and the best Dwight episode since his transition to Fear. I thought especially on this epsiode the walkers were sooo amazingly realized. Also I loved the scary claustrophobic tone of the episode. Great Job. I hope the quality stays the same the rest of the season

Im losing my patience
25 October 2020
Im not a hater. I really really try to like the show, but you cant say that the show is great, if the only intreresting stuff happens in the last 2min of every episode. We are 4 epsiodes in and NOTHING is happening at all. Some teens talking some nonsense and here and there they encounter a walker. Why should I care about the main cast at all?? Seriously the soldier at the end of episode 3 has me way more interested in him than any main cast member, although he barely has 2min screentime. Even Fear S5 is 1000times more interesting to watch. Also they heavily overuse flashbacks. Fear S4A was flashback city, but World beyond is 10times more lazy with that approach and just randomly slaps flashbacks into the episode in order to desperatly try to give the characters more personality. Like I said I love TWD franchise and want to like it, thats why Im voicing my opinion and want a better product.

Every episode of Pose S1 shattered my heart, only to rebuild it. Especially the pilot is perfection in this aspect. When Damon was able to prove himself and do what he loves (thanks to Blanca my fav character in a show, maybe ever) and when Angel talked about wanting to be treated as a real normal women, I was MOVED.

Very good episode but huge problems with the german dub
19 October 2020
The episode itself is awesome. I hated Strand in S4 and 5, but this episode made him interesting again. The cinematography and production design are very good. This epsiode really makes you interested in what might happen next. How will Strand develop, how will Morgan develop and wtf is up with Daniel? Now to the elephant in the room. The german dub is almost unwatchable. There are major errors with the backround noise and the sound is bad in general. It seems extremely(!) rushed and unpolished, like noone bothered to listen to it even once before release. Please fix this asap and especially for the bluray release. This is unacceptable. Normally this would be an 8 in my opinion. Not as strong as the premiere, but really solid

S1-3 are just very different to 4 and 5
28 September 2020
I can understand the distaste for s4 and 5, but hear me out. I started watching with s5. After catching up on the main Walking Dead, I was bored and decided to give Fear a shot. I watched trailers and just decided to start with s5 because the cinematography and production design judging off trailers looked awesome. I finished it and Im watching s4 atm. I dont have any strong negative feelings about both 4+5 because I dont know the earlier seasons. I suspect that 1-3 build up a great show with good writing and 4 completely changed it. You can just start the show with s4. So I can understand people who invested their time and liked the older seasons and now hate the new ones. The writing of 5 isnt great, but to me the show is dumb fun. High production value, every episode they show you a new place with new problems and the cinematography is very good. The biggest problems to me were the villain Logan, who wasnt really used well and Altheas tapes, which are interesting, but stop doing whole episodes with just the bad quality video tapes. Also while people say that S5 is slow af, I highly believe that it could provide very good build up to S6. This is of course speculation, but S6 looks highly promising as a continuation point from 5.

At the end of day, yes, the new Fear seasons arent like the old ones or like TWD, but they are really enjoyable if you dont take the writing very serious and enjoy the high quality production.
