Cure (1997)
A slow, yet intriguing and worthwhile film
Cure is an early 2000s Japanese horror film that links several murders to a psychotic hypnotist who is responsible for coming into contact with individuals and inciting repressed anger into acts of murder, with all victims bearing the hallmark "X" gruesomely carved into their bodies with a knife. The protagonist, Detective Takabe attempts to solve the mystery behind these murders, and the story focuses on his own unraveling and transformation during the investigation. In his obsession to solve the mystery and put an end to the murders, he becomes so engrossed that he gradually transforms into the murderer. The movie had a captivating build-up, yet the ending ultimately packed less of a punch than anticipated.
Skepp till India land (1947)
Yawn-inducing early Bergman
Unpleasant viewing experience. Only mildly interesting part was the exploration and portrayal of female characters. Dialogue was generally laughable.
