No Kramer . . . no show.
8 May 2024
The movie is not funny. I think the writing team saw the cast, and decided the cast could make even the dullest, least funny dialogue, funny. It did not work. First, who really cares about Post or Kellogg unless there something really catches a viewers interest. This thing drags along like a dead cow, and the action does not get any better. I keep thinking, watch one more series, and when I tune in I'm only good for about 10 minutes because it really is very dull. The writers desperately need Larry David to help out. Seinfeld is not a good actor. He comes across as stuffy and reaching for a laugh. He got by in the Seinfeld series because he had a great supporting cast, and Larry David doing the writing. Seinfeld should stick to his series comedians in cars getting coffee, which I think is the best thing he has done to date.

I have nothing more to say, so the 600 word minimum is not a wise choice, and one that makes really no sense at all. I think 300 words is about the right length, and a person can say all that needs to be said about stinker movies like this one.

Just stop . . .
11 February 2024
I'm done with this junk. I've been trying to get through the 5th episode thinking that sooner or later the story line would become clear, and the characters would fall into place. But, no, it's the same brooding nonsense as before. First, it started promising with the frozen scientists, but it never gained traction from there. Naked people waking into the snow, then protestors against some mining company? I was lost as to where this thing was going? What exactly is the story about? Jodie Foster, here's another over the hill, diminutive actor wasting my time. When she's driving a car, or standing next to someone else, she looks like a little kid. And, she's supposed to be be the chief law enforcer? No way. Mis casting all the way. Aside from that, it's just not worth watching.

Should have stopped after season 3
26 January 2024
I am an unqualified fan of the first 3 seasons. The story lines, characters, accents were believable and intriguing. Then, along comes Chris Rock and his crew who were so far removed from the feeling of the series it was an insult to anyone familiar with the first 4 seasons. Most of the Coen brothers' films are artistic wonders, but they slipped way off the track on 4, and I'm not sure if was Hawley or the Coens who let it get away. Season 4 was awful. Now, Season 5, and the casting is a miserable failure. Jon Hamm in a ten gallon hat? He has not even a hint of a Minnesota accent. Hamm should be in a suit with the MadMen, or in the comedy Progressive insurance commercial. He has no business being cast as a heavy. The man looked silly in that get-up. Juno Temple has all kinds of accolades to her credit, but in this series her speech sounded as if she had a mouth full of marbles. Perhaps she was looking for an accent, any kind of accent. Whoever was the accent coach, if there was one, did a miserable job. J. J. Leigh, what the hell was that? She accent sounded as if she were in the middle of Manhattan. David Rysdale took the accent to a ridiculous level. The character played by Sam Spruell was the only interesting person in the group. However, he was ruined in the final Bisquick episode when he miraculously was transformed from an outerspace killer to a clown. What a crap show. The only reason I give it 5 stars is because my rating is a carry over from the first 3 seasons that I gave 10 stars out of 5 to each season. Coens and Hawley, if you cannot get the story back on track, please, for the love of everything Fargo, STOP.

He's not funny
6 March 2023
Chris Rock's introduction to this special felt like the viewer was in for a huge comedic happening. Celebrity comics praised him to the highest, and no one was anything but gushing over Rock, as if the guy was going to bring on a blockbuster. What a disappointment. First, the guy does nothing but shout out his lines, then pauses, and waits for what amounted to anemic laughter. Shouting, in and of itself is not funny, and he has never change the style that is just irritating, and not funny. Then he proceeds to criticise a veritable cornucopia of people, institutions, businesses, and the question is, who gives a blank? I have nothing further to say, it just wasn't that memorable, but this crazy idea IMD has about length, is about as relevant as Rock's so called special.

It's real, all right.
21 May 2022
Can't be anything but real, it's so slow, and with dim witted characters. To add insult to injury, there are commercials most of which have more interest than the story.

A good enough story, but . . . .
5 March 2022
There comes a time during the 3rd episode when you want to yell out, So, tell her the whole story already! The daughter is of age and is perfectly capable of knowing the truth about her mother, but instead the story teller drags, and drags, it out adinfinitum. Other than that, a decent binge watch.

I just improved my day by finishing this thing. I started with a 7 star review, and quite honestly 5 is pushing it.

Bloody Awful
9 February 2022
Beside the fact Stewart whispered through out 90% of the movie, my complaint is that there was really no point in hearing her even 10% of the time. I wanted my review to end there, but it didn't contain enough characters, so I will say I liked the cars and the countryside.

Too much, already . . .
29 December 2021
It began as a "must watch", but in 2021 it's simply a rehash of the same predicaments of the past seasons. Nothing new, even though he attempts a spin on the same.

The last straw, was his blatant liberalism overtaking this latest episode with Vindman taking the lead, and David's political stance. My answer, wthf cares what the elitist Larry David thinks?

Wonderful Film
6 December 2021
This movie offers some terrific actors in Cumberbatch, Dunst, Plemons, and a welcome addition of Smit McFee. A plot with many levels and a changes in direction that catches one by surprise. I was on the edge of my seat through-out the film, and it's a feather in the cap of Netflix for streaming it so soon. Okay, in full disclosure, I think most action movies are trite and clones of one another. And those who are disappointed in this film, because this movie had nothing to do with a dog, need to stick with the regular junk that is more than plentiful.

Time to go . . .
22 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have enjoyed the previous seasons, but it is time for "Curb" to go away. At least Seinfeld new enough to quit when the time came, and did the right thing. The situations David creates are just slight variations of what he's done before, nothing new, forced, and hard to watch. The funeral and the ruined shirt, the Asian restaurant, the scene at the golf course restaurant, all of this has been done before. Nothing new. You had a great run. Go away, retire Larry.

Time to Quit
3 November 2021
This latest season, as well as much of season 10, is a rehash of most everything he has done before, at one time or another. There is nothing fresh, and his story lines are forced. The incident at Netflix is a prime example of the same overworked production Larry had with HBO. Larry needed to take a cue from his buddy, Seinfeld. . . Quit while you're ahead.

Aside from the fact the characters have become total narcissists, I cannot stand having to strain to hear Giamatti constantly whispering his lines. What a douche.

Förtvivlan Ovanpå Förtvivlan
12 October 2021
There is something about the Swedish psyche, maybe it's the long winters, but Bergman always takes the serious and weighty scale to the maximum. I really enjoyed the actors, both are great, and I can imagine they felt emotionally drained, as did I, trying to keep up with the next chapter of Bergman's roller coaster of depression and anxiety. This adaptation is very true to Bergman's style, since I found myself feeling about the same way after watching his other films, depressed, and suicidal, but in a good way.

What did he say?

Several reviewers mention the loud background music, distracting and enough to make me give up on the story. Stupid decision by someone who must think a choice of music takes precedence over the story.

A nice little play
20 August 2021
The actors, most of whom are well known super stars, do a credible job, but I can't believe what they are portraying because of their stardom. The plot, so far, is supposed to lend a sense of mystery to the story, but it fails to grab my attention accept in the most sophomoric way. I cannot shake my suspension of disbelief. I'll watch it, but in the end I'll wish I could have my time back.

Canceling Showtime
26 May 2021
Showtime has had nothing of interest since Homeland and Billions. There are so many stale old series and movies on ST, that I'm not surprised Cinema Toast appealed to them since anything new was sorely lacking. If I wanted to watch old movies I'd tune into TCM. At least TCM is not dubbed and their movies are interesting, and some are funny, unlike Cinema Toast. As far as I'm concerned, Cinema Toast is toast, and so is Showtime.

2 May 2021
I prefer movies like Pulp Fiction, Fargo, No Country for Old Men, Chinatown, which have action, but the plot has depth, and the characters are interesting. Tenet is best watched if one can summon up the attitude of a 14 year old.t Total crap.

Unexpected, but not in a good way. If you're into a movie that is way overboard with mother/daughter angst, this movie is for you.

A good story with authentic dialogue, plus characters who are believable as opposed to that rip-off bunch in "Clarice".

Sophmoric
23 February 2021
Not only is another crime/serial killer/anemic story not needed, these producers should be severely punished for ripping off a story from a true classic and turning into a sophomoric embarrassment. Honestly, how far back does the same, old story line have to go on? A young brave detective/FBI, whatever, finds itself at odds with the establishment, only to ultimately be proven right vanquishing the bad guy? Clint Eastwood followed that same story line 30 years ago, and the concept was old then. The script is so full of cliches I felt ashamed for wasting an hour watching it.

Nice Color
6 February 2021
The title I wanted to use for my review was already taken by another reviewer, "Convoluted Nonsense". The first fifteen minutes showed real promise. I was anxiously awaiting the plot to thicken, then nothing but mumbo jumbo. I'm sure there is an appreciation out there for the term "Science Fiction", but films like this are pure BS. And, for God's sake, will someone please fix Wilson's nose !!!. I can't see anything else.

Crime, drama, thriller . . .
1 February 2021
The theme of crime, drama, thriller can be the best, but the genre has been overused repeatedly. Some do a good job, but the reality dramas that ramble on for 30 minutes about how the victim was the life of the party, everyone's pal, she/he would "light up the room". those I can do without, and this movie might have fallen into that trap without Denzel Washington. Still, it was interesting and had some good variations. There may not be another "Seven" movie that comes along for who knows how long. Regarding the characters, Rami Malek has never been in my top 20, but he is riding high on his portrayal of Mercury. For me, in this film, the miscast was off-putting.

Exploitation Piece
12 January 2021
HBO is aware the series ratings will be off the charts, so everyone makes money. After the first episode, I find it interesting. How could it not be appealing for anyone interested in a very eventful life of a super athlete? But, why would Tiger, a person who is only in mid-life, allow a sort of mini-memoir that appeals to tabloid interests? He complains about a lack of privacy, and if Tiger's goal is to have a "normal life", this is not the route to take, unless HBO said, ". . . make him an offer he can't refuse".

Lips Behind Sound
2 January 2021
If it were not for Netflix, I would have never known how many second and third rate movies are produced. Okay, I admit, mostly I hate the dubbing and the overacting, but not only that, the insipid plot and the characterization is so narrow that even though they try, way down deep it is still very shallow. I am embarrassed for those involved. It seems that Netflix, as well as other streamers, are enamored with diversity for its own sake, as if that were the key to legitimacy. Now and again, there may be a reason to add something foreign made, but for pity sake try to establish a critical standard. There was a time I was a fan of Bergman and Fellini, but this film is no Bergman. It's kind of, well, stupid. I know good movies are rare, they can't all be Tarantino, Wes Anderson, or the Coen brothers, but they and others like them have set the standard.
