Typical Low Budget Revenge
1 January 2023
Considering the low budget, I've seen much worse. The acting is average to sketchy. The story and action scenes are beyond cringeworthy. Its got some decent gore if you like that stuff. The social commentary is very typical of any modern horror film; all the white people are evil, the minorities are violently oppressed even though they are meek hearted and full of goodness, the woman will absolutely kick your rear end from one end of the earth to the next. However, if you just want to have some fun watching jerks get butchered in the style of I Spit On Your Grave, this might be your jam. The dramatic ending was some stellar cringe.

Awesome Setting, solid acting, horrific voice dubs, and not much happens.
3 April 2022
That about sums it up. The setting is an awesome dark forest full of creepy shadows, odd noises, rickety bridges over dark waters, and old folk legends. It captures a creepy vibe quite well. After that this film does not offer much. I would guess most watchers will feel like nothing ever really happened. The voice overdubs are a deal breaker, I can't believe I finished it. Yes it does have a heavy Blair Witch Vibe. It's Meh.

Slow but thought provoking
2 January 2022
I don't understand all the negative reviews. Yes this one is slow with very little action. Yet, the story is thought provoking and well acted. The fun part is the ethical questions you are challenged with. This film is not horror or thriller, but it's a great drama. I recommend you try it some night when you are feeling contemplative. I spent quite a bit of time thinking about the characters and the questions raised in this story, which to me indicates a great film.

The Dark (I) (2018)

Fantastic, one of my favorite horror/drama films
22 December 2021
I love The Dark, it's one of the very few films I've seen multiple times. If you are a fan of Let Me In or Let The Right One In, expect to enjoy this one. It has a very Somber feel to it. The acting is not perfect but the primary characters are great. The film has an underlying meaning to it, in my opinion it is making a comment about redemption and the adverse effects of wrath and vengeance. I love the abandoned house and forest setting, and the minimalist dialogue creates a lonely and depressing vibe. I have no clue why The Dark is not better rated on IMDb, it gets a 10 from me. Watch it.

WE NEED TO SPEW SOMETHING *NO SPOILERS *
16 December 2021
Wow, the characters spew a lot in this attempt at film making. The acting ranges from decent to cringeworthy. The setting is boring. There are massive holes in the story. There are long scenes intended to be emotional and dramatic, but they only make you uncomfortable because they are so awful. It tries to be modern and relevant by cramming lesbians into the story (Yawn). The characters eat gross things because they are supposedly starving but they appear to be just fine. The characters ignore obvious solutions and immediately go insane. Excuse me, I need to spew something.

It's one of those acid trip movies
22 August 2021
Another reviewer helped me understand that there may actually be a point to this acid trip of a film. That motivated me to give it 3 stars instead of 1. No Spoilers here. It starts out as a decent home invasion movie similar to Strangers. It develops into a confusing and annoying acid trip. Constant dream sequences and visions abound. The soundtrack was almost beyond my ability to tolerate, it featured children chanting and yelling and it was annoying as crap. Bizarre colors outside and seasonal changes must have meant something but I don't care to figure it out. If you consider acid trips to be artsy then this movie is your jam, go for it. Ima just complain about it on IMDb. The lead actress was cute and talented, if you like goth girls maybe she will make it worth your stay.

I was probably biased in favor of Maisie, but it was decent.
24 June 2021
This movie was decent entertainment. I have no problem with the actors performance. It seemed convincing and well made. Unfortunately, it's just not particularly original, not horrifying, not all that intense or disturbing. The characters represent all the typical personalities you would expect from a home invasion movie, but they are well played. You know what I mean; you have the pure bad guy, the naive girlfriend, the mislead simpleton, the conflicted guy. It was a fun watch. It has a little ending twist, but you will likely see it coming. Give it a try if you miss Arya Stark!

Poop
23 June 2021
Terrible. A star for good actors. A star for beautiful scenery. A total of two stars because this was literally the most boring movie I have ever seen. Impossibly slow. Deep and heady and artsy, but who in the world would care enough to try to figure it out? I can't believe I finished it. Not horror, not disturbing, not interesting, just poop.

Christian Folks Take it on the Chin Again
6 June 2021
In a world that is very sensitive about racism, stereotyping, and negative depictions of entire people groups, we sure don't seem to mind depicting the Christian folks as delusional, perverted, fanatical murderers on a regular basis. This movie is no exception. It's a typical kids break down in the middle of nowhere and run into a crazy family type of thing. Acting is average at best. Story has lots of holes and "you gotta be kidding me" moments. I've seen much worse movies, I actually finished this one, so that's a plus. There is just nothing scary, original, or particularly well done about his film. Lots of cringe worthy dialog and character behaviors. I'm saying skip it unless you really hate religious people and you want to see them act like idiots.

Skip it
6 May 2021
The setting was creepy, perfect for a good ole travelers fall prey to a community of mutants film. Other than that it sucked. I'm not blaming the actors, some of them were decent, they just had nothing to work with. Annoying characters that you have no sympathy for rule the day. The deformed mutants were just people with their faces painted white. Lots of gore if you like that stuff. Lame plot with little backstory and an ending that might have intended to shock you, but it does not. I liked the creepy whispers on the woods. Molly was fairly well played and a bit cute. Low budget action scenes that made me giggle. Skip it.

Fun, creepy, worth a watch.
16 April 2021
Other than the "What the heck, Ima just end it here" ending, this one gets good marks from me. Acting is convincing, the antagonist is well done and has an effective backstory. The lead actress is pretty and plays her slightly naive character very well. There are some disturbing moments but they don't rely on mountains of gore. If you like the horror movies about obsession that kinda have Fatal Attraction roots, check it out.

For me this movie defines "a decent film, worth a watch"
30 January 2021
NO SPOILERS. Its not bad, you might enjoy this. If you are a veteran of the horror genre it won't be anything new at all to you. The style is "found footage" style. The acting is decent, sometimes pretty good. There are lots of creepy moments where people have their back turned to you, and you are tense waiting for something to happen. The climactic end scene has some creepy moments but makes liberal use of the shaking camera/people screaming/what the heck is going on kind of stuff that we have seem plenty of times. There are some dumb decisions made by characters of course, but for the most part its forgivable. Most of the time the dumb decision is simply neglecting to turn on a freaking light. If you are in the mood for a found footage style film this might be worth a try, just don't expect to be blown away.

It's supposed to be stupid and it is
16 January 2021
If u r watching this, you wanted a stupid movie and this delivers. The acting is bad. The turkey is a hand puppet. The turkey swears a lot. Every aspect of the film is low budget. The story is lame. The one liners are horrible. I give it a thumbs up.

I wanted so badly to like it
13 January 2021
This movie seemed to have potential, I really wanted to get into it. Unfortunately it moves painfully slow, and has far more moments of absurd comedy (or just plain stupidness) than scares. You also have an overload of predictable stereotypes. The religious characters are mostly hypocrites or perverts, of course. Gay characters are heroic, cops are idiots, you know the drill. The lead actress was convincing and I was rooting for her, she just didn't have much to work with. There is a character who would stick out like a sore thumb in any crowd, but somehow she walks around killing people in public and everyone seems to take no notice. U might want to skip this one.

Not exactly original but very well done
2 January 2021
No spoilers here: Acting is fantastic. Story has been done before, but this one does it well. I agree with the previous reviews that say the first half is exceptional. The second half sputters a bit but I still really enjoyed it. The acting, characters, and story drew me in enough to leave me thinking about the film for awhile after it ended. I say give it a try. Be warned that the young actress has quite a few skin scenes that I felt were a bit unnecessary, just in case that stuff bothers ya. I think it deserves a higher rating.

Well done, standard slasher film
26 December 2020
It's a standard slasher film. Slow walking killer, incredibly stupid decisions from victims, incompetent police, you get it, That said, its well done, enough to have some fun with if you are in the mood. Actors are good, some nasty gore, creepy filthy gas station for a setting. If you like slasher films I think you will enjoy this. Let me throw in that this little chick just set the record for worst first day of work in the history of the human race.

Not a classic by any stretch but deserves better ratings.
25 December 2020
No spoilers here! Not sure why this one is rated so poorly. The acting is good, although the bickering between the main characters (brothers) gets pretty annoying. The scenery is fantastic if you love the outdoors. The backstory is engaging, but don't expect it to tie into the events too much, it just kinda gives the characters some life. The ending will get big loves and big hates. Don't expect big budget effects, it's a simple story of 2 brothers deep on the woods who come upon some creepy stuff. Have fun with it.

Just not that good at all
2 December 2020
This movie is packaged like it's another Strangers or similar home invasion movie. It falls incredibly short. It's not that the acting is all that horrible, the characters are just incredibly annoying with cringeworthy attempts at comic relief aplenty. It's set in an old abandoned hotel which looks pretty cool, but don't expect any quality scares or creeps. I suggest you pass on this one unless you are in the mood for something goofy with an incredibly lame storyline.

Slow movie with some appeal and a few holes
26 November 2020
This movie moves incredibly slow. If you need action or thrills you won't be happy. However there is some good acting, a decent setting, and a pretty young actress on the beach. No spoilers here but if you are like me you are going to spend the whole film asking "why would a middle aged women with a family invite a former fling who she has not seen in many years to drop in and live with them for a few days?" I guess I'm old fashioned, but it seems like her current man would object. Anyway, good acting made the film a decent watch.

Slow but strangely appealing
23 November 2020
I enjoyed it and gave 8 stars. However, I almost turned it off in the first half hour because the opening scene where you are introduced to the main characters seemed to drag on forever. I was won over because the actors are excellent, the movie is well made and convincing, and the simple story is intriguing. It's not horror as sometimes suggested, it is more drama or thriller. If you are ok with a slow burn where you stick with it because you actually care about the characters, I recommend it.
