Shaping Up (1984)
Lots of potential
With a funny cast in an evergreen ensemble workplace premise (by some great writers like Sam Simon!), SHAPING UP showed a lot of promise. Leslie Nielsen and Jennifer Tilly were each particularly fun in their roles.
It deserved more of a chance to develop its characters and cultivate a following. I think it could have been a hit in the TAXI and CHEERS mold. It was certainly designed as such.
I wish copies were more widely available today so everyone could see and enjoy the show as I do. The later episodes were better than the first few aired. (I think that probably made a difference with critics.)
The Addams Family: Happy Birthday, Grandma Frump (1966)
Margaret Hamilton shines in subpar episode of decent series.
Margaret Hamilton is a professional and occasionally very funny. But she's let down by a mediocre script from a series that proved elsewhere it was capable of better.
