Please watch this gross out exploitation horror while eating your lunch
18 September 2022
A male virgin geek attend a new year party looking for some hot chicks for a night of sleazy fun. He only manage to get a middle age woman who seems to be attracted to him.

After following the older lady to her apartment, the geek found out that this lady is practising some weird fertility religion. Because this a horror movie, there's something diabolical about the religion and the geek is about to experience a night of filthy, slimy body horror nightmare.

This Spanish exploitation just want to disgust you, and you're getting that. Instead of blood and intestines, you are disgusted by excrements, dirty bathroom, menstrual blood and close up shot of arsehole. Yeah, it's like a Tom Green comedy.

There's also this one pregnancy birth scene. You think you have a strong stomach, then watch this scene while eating some gooey meal like a pasta with ton of sauce or a steak smothered in thick gravy.

Overall you might like this if you're into gross horror comedy. I am only moderately amused. The concept is also not original since it's a pregnancy horror about someone impregnated with evil. Only this time it's a male that get pregnant because this movie is not only gross, it's also weird...

What an absurd ending
17 September 2022
This movie is just weird for weird sake. At first, there is a strong buildup of tension between Malcolm McDowell and Madolyn Smith characters. Both characters are so suspicious and weird I'm not exactly sure who's the actual threat of this psychological thriller actually is.

Then come the what in the world twist ending. You just wouldn't except this somewhat smart, gripping thriller suddenly swerve into a B movie madness, it completely switch genre. So the woman is a part of some experiment... but what is the purpose? Where is she? I think there is no logic to the ending, it just added to make your jaw drop.

I do like this thriller but I won't watch it again, just to pick hints to figure the purpose of the twist ending. There is no purpose, no theme, no metaphor... this movie just want to be bizarre.

Moderately awesome Donnie Yen flick
29 August 2022
Pretty much an obscure Donnie Yen action flick in the States when compared to the Ip Man series or Flashpoint. Which mean while this one is not an essential Donnie Yen movie to watch for martial arts/action movie fans, this is still a solid action film nevertheless.

This is the 4th films in the In The Line Of Duty series in which I never seen the previous films, so I don't know if this a standalone or a continuation of the series.

After watching it, I don't even think this is a Donnie Yen vehicle, Yen only seem to be starring in this instead of being the real lead.

Because the real scene stealer is actress Cynthia Khan who played Madam Yeung, most of the best action scenes belong to her. Her fight scenes are better choreographed than Donnie Yen IMO. There's one notable scene involving a police van featuring dangerous stunts, but that scene feature Khan instead of Yen who is suppose to be the main hero.

Check out this one if you can find it but no need to rush. There are probably better retro Hong Kong action movies you haven't seen yet.

Sick
24 August 2022
Ari Aster of Hereditary & Midsommar fame direct this sickening short film while studying at AFI school. It's not exactly a horror short, but the subject matter touch on a taboo best left unspoken. It's disturbing, revolting and creepier than a thousand Paimon's.

I hated it because I'm trying to erase from my memory what I've just seen, I never going to watch it again.

Teenage Mutant Magical Turtles
23 August 2022
What, the turtles have magical ninja power? These are not the ninja turtles that I remember. But since this one is based on a Nickelodeon series that I never watched and didn't even know exist, there would be an explanation on how the turtles gain their magic powers in that show, but it doesn't matter.

I also didn't grew up or even born yet in the eighties when the first animated series was popular. What I know about the turtles is from the PS2 games I played, the movie from 1990, 2007 and the Michael Bay movies with the hideous turtles. So I am not a TMNT fan at all and I only watch this because it's on Netflix.

Well this movie is exciting, action packed fun for kids and the kids at heart. The animation style is wild, eccentric and colourful. And the plot is standard save the world stuff and who cares.

All great harmless fun with none of the wokeness...except April O Neal is race swapped. This will be problematic to some people who can't even accept a tiny hint of woke in their entertainment. I don't fret about politics and the littlest thing, but I'm also not tooo woke.....

Not trashy and juvenile enough. A grindhouse throwback Latinxploitation failure
23 August 2022
This B movie from Chile is inspired by 1970's grindhouse films, basically it's a grindhouse throwback modern movie.

If you don't already know, grindhouse films are obscure, ugly looking low budget exploitation junks produced in the 1970's that features offensive violence and even female nudity.

Planet Terror/Death Proof aka Grindhouse (2007) pay tribute to the trashy thrills of grindhouse movies. A bunch of indie imitators then follow, the best of them is Hobo With A Shotgun.

So this movie begin when a deadly lady assassin known as the Machine Gun Woman murder a bunch of random targets, including a ridiculous Chinchinero assassin. This opening is silly and stylish, promising exploitation fun. Yet just after the opening credit end, it already starting to look dull.

The basic plot is about Santiago, a loser who overheard a bounty hit on the infamous lady assassin. After discovered by the mob boss who planned the hit, he offer himself to hunt down the Machine Gun Woman so his life will be spared. He soon only bring bigger trouble to himself.

This movie fail because it's not trashy and grindhouse-y enough with very little action scenes. Santiago is annoying and he's the main character instead of the lady assassin. Mostly it's boring scenes about Santiago driving around Chile questioning people about the assassin. The Machine Gun Woman don't get enough screen time and she barely machine gunning anyone. She ended being a damsel in distress instead with Santiago being a hero.

What I want is basically a revenge flick about the Machine Gun Woman slaughtering everyone. Give me that cheap violent thrill instead of a boring investigation plot.

The movie also feature GTA reference because Santiago is a video game nerd and the director trying to be cool I guess. Every scene when this hero drive around in his car searching for clue, a mission info appear like a task the player must complete.

Forget this one and just watch Planet Terror, Death Proof, Machete 1 & 2 and Hobo With The Shotgun if you haven't yet, for the authentic grindhouse thrills ( Or maybe ignore Death Proof because that movie sux ! ).

Gritty and underrated, but just average to me
21 August 2022
Nighthawks is often considered an underrated Sylvester Stallone action thriller from the 1980's that action movie fans need to check out.

Now after watching this for the first time, it just feels dated and average to me. Maybe since I've already seen another underrated Stallone flick that I love (Cobra). Still I love the gritty vibe and the late Rutger Hauer is a cool villain. Check it out already, probably you like it more than me.

The big twist make Esther less creepy
19 August 2022
Some reviewers might be tempted to spoil the big twist in this prequel. I'm just going to say it just makes Esther less of a villain, and turn the movie into a thriller instead of horror.

The movie begin showing how Leena escaped from the most unsecured mental hospital on earth. She then assume the identity of Esther, a missing daughter of a wealthy American couple, and manipulate the couple whose fate are already revealed in the first movie.

First Kill is a good enough prequel for me because the twist brings the story into a gripping direction, even thought it's lacking the horror vibe and less brutal kills. The best kill in the movie happen before the big twist reveal. Isabelle Fuhrman performance is still great as the de-aged Esther while every other actors is just okay. The actor playing the husband is just dull.

Production value just look lower budget and direct to streaming quality compared to Orphan since this movie was never intended for wide theatrical release.

Dull storyline redeemed by great atmosphere
17 August 2022
I've already seen Mickey Keating's psychological horror film Darling before. That movie is a slow burn boredom and I already forgotten about it. This one is a slow burn too and is just much better than Darling but not much.

Offseason is a supernatural mystery with a great cinematography and atmosphere similar to Silent Hill - there are even moments where the main heroine wander through the foggy empty town just like the character in that video game.

But even with the mystery, I find the storyline un-interesting and involving and it's not scary either althought the musical score is creepy. Overall Offseason is not terrible or great, it's just decent.

If American Ninja was made in the year 2009
16 August 2022
Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear (2013) introduce me to the awesome Scott Adkins. This movie reminds me of one of those Michael Dudikoff's American Ninja movies because the vibe and visual feel like one.

For an action B movie, the plot of Ninja shouldn't be so complicated and hard to follow. Who are those cult that appears in the middle of this movie? I'm lost on the plot. Every other Scott Adkins films I've seen have a simple plot, even Avengement which is told progressively via flashback.

Now how about the action scenes because that is the highlight. I can't decide whether this or Shadow Of A Tear is better. Ninja have a better villain (Masazuka) but his final fight with Adkins is meh... The finale of Shadow Of Tear have better fight scenes - Adkins vs Tim Man and his epic showdown with Kane Kosugi.

But Ninja have better mid action scenes. So I decide Ninja is just slightly better than Shadow Of A Tear because of it's vibe.

Benny Loves Bloodbath
16 August 2022
Benny is an evil Elmo looking doll who just want to love Jack it will murder for him, instead of trying to murder him like what Chucky want to do to Andy Barclay.

This is a silly horror comedy that is more silly and definitely not horror. Because of budget limitation, Benny CGI is not exactly the best looking and the humor is hit and miss. But I'm having fun with the gory killings and the ending is over the top. Worth a one time watch ...

Great action scenes but nothing new
15 August 2022
The best thing is the action scenes, especially the opening when Jamie Foxx fight the grandma vampire who twist and turn like a pretzel. I thought the idea of a contortionist vampire is unique plus the movie mention there are several different kind of vampires, something different we don't see often in vampire movies.

But alas we only see the basic type of fast vampires we've seen in many movies before.

And the plot is also basic as well, there are literally thousands of vampire hunters movie already. Bram Stoker already invented Van Helsing in Dracula ages ago, then there's the Hammer's Dracula films, Blade and whole lot of random low budget horror movies about them.

A plot about a man hiding a dangerous secret job from his family? You all remember True Lies don't you?

Jamie Foxx working for a secret organization that hunts vampires? The organization is derivative of Men In Black who monitor unknown creatures.

And of course the vampires are planning a doomsday plan against humans, instead of just hiding and feeding on humans in discreet.

I give this a good review because of the fast action scenes, nothing else is different about it.

A hidden Italian horror gem
15 August 2022
If you love Italian horror then you already know and have seen some of the best of the genre such as Suspiria, Deep Red, Demons, Cannibal Holocaust...

Well it turn out this one is a truly unknown hidden gem of Italian horror from the 1980's, starring Lorraine Desalle (Cannibal Ferox). No, it's not scary or that gory, but an entertaining and unintentionally hilarious animal attack movie, a perfect Italian B movie cheese. And it features real animals too instead of practical effects which is impressive.

So many cool scenes such as a jaguar chasing a jeep in the middle of a city, but the best scene is when tigers attacking passengers in a subway train. The scene is surprisingly suspenseful, this movie is cool check it out.

Emotional and beautiful
14 August 2022
The animation is beautiful as expected from Studio Ghibli. An emotional and sweet story. The storyline is involving too as you are guessing who Marnie actually is. My favourite from Studio Ghibli is still Princess Mononoke.

Cheesy and sleazy 80's fantasy
14 August 2022
This is my third Albert Pyun movie I've seen after Cyborg and Captain America. Hah! What a cheesefest from a B movie maestro. And it's sleazy too since there are more topless women featured rather than any exciting action scenes.

It's basically a so bad it's good 'classic'. Sleazy cheap fantasy flick like this can never be made today because political correctness and demeaning to female empowerment or something like that.

Like Big Hero 6 but no action scenes
14 August 2022
I guess the plot is similar to Big Hero 6 and even the robot look like the mini version of Baymax. No noisy action scenes here, just a sweet story of friendship. Good but not one of Disney's best.

Correction:- This is from 20th Century Studios not Disney.

Trippy episode
14 August 2022
I am loving the creativity and unique styles of each episodes from all 3 seasons. Jibaro is by far the most hypnotic, trippy and beautiful episode I've seen so far. The opening scene when the soldiers dance to their lake death is insane.

Just like Hostel about evil European but worse
14 August 2022
A bunch of horror nerds travel to some small town in Europe to research a horror movie...and foreigners are strange and evil. The plot is basically like Hostel and the movie is excruciating, total garbage.

An atmospheric Predator sequel
14 August 2022
A more slower paced Predator movie than all of the predecessors. It's beautifully shot too and atmospheric, making the final showdown with the Predator just as epic like the one in the first movie because it's set at night.

The action scenes are fine, some poor effects like the crappy looking CGI lion and bear and I really don't care for any of the characters. Overall, an above average Predator sequel. Also the Predator design this time looks different than the alien were familiar with, skeletal and almost like an ancient version of the Predator.
