Astrid et Raphaëlle: Invisible (2020)
Bach?
In season 1 episode 9, Astrid claimed that Bach inserted his name into his music. There is no letter B in the German music note names. Otherwise it's an amazing series that reminds me of Professor T without the fantasy images.
Astrid relationships develop and mature nicely with each episode. But the writers take great pains not to move her too far from her spectrum. So the show seems to stay true to her condition with alliance for gradual growth.
There are a few cases were British slang is used that requires a quick Google. For example the word pissed has a different meaning.
There are no magical jumps in solving the crimes either which leads to a nice air if credibility.
Mrs. Pollifax-Spy (1971)
Poor Rosalind Russell
I got through the first hour and couldn't finish it. Do yourself a favor and rewatch Mame Auntie instead which is an excellent movie. A shame this was her last film.
A Christmas Carol (2019)
Woke
These bizarre woke casting decisions are the emptiest of gestures. I look forward to this phase of wokeness ending soon. Otherwise an interesting period piece with a twist.
Ink (2009)
Better than Inception
My wife and two teenagers watched this movie last night via Netflix Streaming. The first 30 seconds were jarring, followed by a few moments of confusion, but that was a small price to pay for what was by far the best movie for us of the year. We just got back from Inception the weekend before which was a great ride, but not the deep work this was.
I would not recommend a movie of this complexity and with this much force for anyone under 13. The violence is not comic book, but very in some cases very real.
A must for adults struggling to balance job and family. This movie is not at all preachy, but obvious lessons are offered. Goodness and evil defined for the 21st century makes the lessons hard to ignore.
