Extraction 2 (2023)
Mixed feelings, but great action sequences and camera work
First of all, his extremely quick recovery was a bit questionable....
The prison sequence was fantastic, one of the better one shot sequences I've seen in recent times. Exciting action and great camera work.
Sadly the Vienna sequence was too unrealistic. I mean, rocket launchers and machine guns in the middle of Vienna for hours and not even the Austrian military was deployed....
The script itself is very predictable, but I suppose it does the job for this kinda movie. The acting overall is mid, but Hemsworth among others are solid. Nonetheless, the main part of the movie, the action sequences are for the most parts very well done, with great camera work.
Overall I have mixed feelings, but I'll give it a 7/10.(after my 1st viewing)
Jack Ryan: Falcon (2022)
Almost Scary How Timely and Revelant this Season is...
It is almost scary how timely and relevant this 3rd season is as we are amidst the Russia-Ukraine war.
Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) returns with his old pal Jim Greer (Wendell Pierce), this time in an intense situation that is in many ways similar to real life events.
The first episode gets straight in on the action and give us a good hint of what's to come.
Personally, I have to say that this story and place of action (Europe) is far more interesting than the 2nd season.
As well all know from the trailer, a huge part of this season revolves around Ryan being on the run, which I think is an interesting approach that most definitely give me Jason Bourne vibes (which I am not against at all).
Good first ep, and I am very interested to see how this "Cold War" story develops.
First episode: 8/10.
Troll (2022)
Entertaining Troll Movie - that most people will enjoy
Perhaps Norway's greatest mythical creature ;Troll, comes to light in this big action packed movie.
Personally, I dont find it as good as Trolljegeren/Troll Hunter, but its a very different movie, so maybe we shouldn't really be comparing them?
The movie's "star" the special effects, were really well done for the fairly low budget. The Troll was very believable and realistic-looking.
When it comes to the story, it was what you'd expect. Not really too much to say here, as it is fairly straight forward and "similar" to other action movies of this scale.
The acting was fine, and I particularly liked the character and actor behind; Tobias Tidemann.
There are also quite a few "inside jokes", especially aimed at Norwegians and young people. Some Norwegian fairly tale "quotes", etc. But there were also; Greta Thunberg jokes and Call of Duty, King Kong and Star Trek references, etc.
Overall, the movie is what you'd expect. Its not very original to say the least, but its not supposed to be either... Your mind will not be blown, but you will have a good time.
6/10.
Andor: Kassa (2022)
Refreshing Star Wars Show
Good and refreshing start to an original Star Wars Story. Although it starts fairly slow, it is a good start to a 12 episode adventure.
"Andor" is a thrilling spy series that takes us into the heart of the rebels' resistance against the powerful and brutal Empire.
Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy) proves to be a great fit for this show and the main character played by Diego Luna hits the mark as a rebel.
It is a good first episode to build characters and introduce us to the story. No bs/cringe stuff, - good actors and production quality seems to be top notch - I am excited to see how this story develops.
First 3 episodes - 8/10.
Hawkeye: Hide and Seek (2021)
Hailee Steinfeld
Title says it all tbh.
Nothing really New if you have seen the trailers, and the stuff that was new was kinda "meh."
So far its as expected; entertaining but predictable. If it wasnt for Hailee Steinfeld, I probably would give it a 6/10... But she is stunning and great as always SHEEEESH.
Solid start, but I am hoping the show will be more interresting as the story develops; 7/10.
Hawkeye: Never Meet Your Heroes (2021)
Weekly "Christmas-fun"
Its a solid start of The show that is just as I expected: "Christmas-fun" with action. Its good wednesday entertainment, but not too much more, so dont expect it to blow your mind or be on the same level as The Loki series.
First 2 eps are quite predictable, but I could see the episodes get more and more interresting though, as the story develops and Characters like Yelena shows Up.
Solid start of The show; 7/10.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Good? Yes. Overhyped? Yes
Well, for starters this movie was overhyped... The crazy DC fans and the gang really made me think this was gonna be some best film of the decade type stuff..
Thats probably why I am a bit dissapointed after watching it. Simply because it was sooooo overhyped.
But just cuz it was overhyped, doesnt mean that it was a bad movie. Gunn did it again, this time for DC, helping the Universe to get on a new, better path for the next movies.
To put it as it is: It is an entertaining movie, very original with crazy characters and a load of fun, goofy action.
Dont expect it to be more than that, cuz it is not some groundbreaking new experience of a lifetime or anything. Its simply an alright movie that you probably will forget in a few weeks.
NB: if it wasnt for King Shark I probably would have rated it a 6/10.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 14: The Tragedy (2020)
Exciting, Unexpected and Emotional
Probably the best episode yet! Finally NOT just another "side quest"... all I can say is that these 30 minutes had everything. It was exciting, emotional and wildly different to the other episodes... I cant wait for the continuation to this!
