Nerisa (2021)
Bedevilled 2.0
I've seen a lot of so called "disturbing" foreign movies, but I think the one that stuck with me the most was the Korean Movie Bedevilled (Which has the similar island settings to Nerisa). Lo and behold, This is the most disturbing Filipino Movie ever made. I won't give any spoilers but hear me out, This movie is the perfect definition of "Creepy Town/Neighborhood with a full dose of toxic masculinity. It gives me a sense of mystery and discomfort from start to finish. Some scene only speaks for the brilliant acting performances of all the actors including the bystanders. Lastly it seems like you're in a setting of 70's pinoy movies like Insiang or Maynila sa mga kuko ng liwanag which is a bit of mysterious. (Bembol Roco and Elizabeth Oropesa did a great job being a supporting cast) Please watch it if you are into psychological thrillers, but if your a bit sensitive, My advised to you is not to get yourself into this film.
Block Z (2020)
More than enough
I've been a long time lurker of IMDB and this is my first ever movie review on this site.
Whenever i planned to watch any movie, this is the place to go to check all the reviews. If i see any negative comment for the movie that causes me to hold back and hesitate. More than 50% of it i didn't watch because of these "so called movie critics". What i realized is every person has a different appetite for everything, a 10 for you is maybe a 5 for me, or maybe a 10 for me is too high for your standards.
Nevertheless i enjoyed the Movie, regardless of the negative review (which i read after watching it fortunately) Mikhail Redd will be one of the best Philippine directors alive. And if given a chance i'd be glad to work with him in the future for some story concepts and idea.
Finally a Director with no non-sense mentality and doing his craft for the sake of all the "Real Movie Enthusiast"
