Father Soldier Son (2020)
Typical USA showoff
What ever you do you need to be tough.
Live up to your fathers expectations or be a loser.
Loose a kid, just take another one and send him also to war.
The boy is in the Army but he does not know why war started or is dragging on, He just wants to go fighting for his country.
This is not happiness, this is just sad. US kids are som brainwashed that they cannot think for themselves anymore.
That is probably what the US of Amerika wants.
Just sad and terribly wrong.
Downfall: The Case Against Boeing (2022)
This is only half of the truth
A couple of factors are left out and this is close to hypocrisy.
First of all, Airbus only got to its number 1 market place after years of government subsidies. After all, the goal was that all of Europe should it's fair share of " production". This implies that parts are made all over Europe and flown in to be assembled. Even complete wings need to be flown a couple of 1.000km to get to the final assembly line. This cannot be done without huge subsidies.
The USA countered with Congress pressurizing FAA to allow manufacturers, like Boeing, to be "self regulating", to be competitive with Airbus.
This, combined with the new technologies like "fly by wire" and "wide body" was simply to much to take on for Boeing.
If the FAA would have kept it's power, the "Maxx" would never have been approved for release without proper training.
It is not only Boeing who into blame. It is the US response to a decline market share on the WW podium.
The same is going on right now with Elon Musk. Basically SpaceX and Tesla are build with taxpayers money. I wonder how long this will go on as "business as usual"? Until a lot of people die, is the sad answer.
La reina del flow (2018)
The most idiotic soap ever
I do not get the high score.
Amateurish and boring.
What happened with professional producers and actors?
It's full of stupid editing errors.
At least 50% of the "soap" is made with flashbacks and the rest is without imagination and any sense of reality.
This is not even worth of carrying the title Netfix series.
All Together Now (2020)
whatever life brings us, never lose hope
I can relate to it. Lost my wife 20 years ago.
Leaving my with 2 sons behind. A 4 and 7 years old kid. I never looked for another "mother" but desired to bring them up by myself.
I would put my need for a partner on ice until both sons would be adults and than maybe go on.
We had a great life with the 3 of us. Even when we went skiing every year with my brothers and their families it was always the 3 of us that were together. An unbreakable band.
A little over a year ago, my youngest, who was in university for his masters, died.
No reason, no cause found. Just died in his sleep.
I lost all purpose in life. No goals, no hope, just surviving.
Until my oldest son told me he would move out at the end of this year. I decided that it was enough for me and sold everything to buy me a 51ft sailing yacht on Rhodes. I will spend the summers on the Mediterranean Sea and the winters in the Indian Ocean.
Of course not a day goes by without thinking about my youngest but I started living again. Although I can sail the ship on my one I always have visitors sailing along. In fact I see more of my family and friends than I did before.
A proper new relationship is still not in view but at least I can look forward again without feeling desperate and that is also what this movie is all about. Don't miss it and remember however "dark" life can be. You never know what the future holds.
Girl, Interrupted (1999)
Just a good movie but what a performance of Angelina Jolie
It is really well over all and I never was a big fan of Angelina Jolie because she was 'the' sex symbol at the time.
After seeing her acting in this movie I really changed my opinion about her. Even if the movie is not even mentioned in her filmography.
What a performance for an upcoming jung actress that she was at the time of the making of this movie.
The English Game (2020)
It could have been a splendid documentary.
Yes, I really do think so. It changed football or soccer if you want, forever.
Wether you are a fan of the game or not, I am not, it for sure is still worth seeing. Very much even because it changed the word.
At last there was one thing even a poor fellow could achieve.
But is so much more than a documentary.
A great script that caches the time these events took place. Well directed and very well acting. You have really everything in this limited series.
Not only is it entertaining,. You also pick up how 'the English game' changed the world.
I only wish that more of this type of series or movies get made and can be viewed all over the world.
Why Did You Kill Me? (2021)
It could have been a great movie
A valuable story with colored characters. With characters that will have a whole story.
Unfortunately that is not reflected in the documentary. Ok to look once, if only to get a different view from the police, unfortunately just too little balans in the script and pretty boring even. One-sided choosing from the directors gives you to much about the family involved. The DA and lawyers could have brought a more colorful documentary.
Brian Banks (2018)
It gets a 10 just because it shows how rotten the US system in an entertaining way
There is nothing wrong with this movie.
So it must be perfect because I rated it a 10.
Yeah, maybe some things could be better because nothing is perfect.
Think about the lawyer that has already proven that 12 people were wrongfully imprisonment.
The system is rotten as hell and that's also why racism or gay-fobia is the USA of today so widespread.
Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall (2017)
Even as a hetero white 58 year old male, you just need to love him
Respect and love, that is what I felt watching this documentary.
No matter what color or gender, you just 'have to' love him.
I only watched it because it was the last day it was on Netflix but it spinnen my head.
He has way to much energy and ideas to just play a role on Broadway. He should be directing it.
Even if it will never thinkable to physically love him, the world and for sure the USA would be a lot more livable.
Blood Diamond (2006)
Sadly, it is the reality in Africa that turned into an excellent movie
I had the opportunity because of my profession to visit most of the African countries while traveling for more than 15years.
Africa is the most beautiful continent on earth but there are still many conflicts going on, even today.
I met dozens of child soldiers, not in the company of warlords but in special centra where they learn to be social and a child again. The longer they have a "soldier" the harder it is to make them feel "normal" again. Some of the children are lost forever. For most children it takes years to be integrated in society again.
That is something what is not highlighted in the movie but everything else is, even in 2021, still the situation a many countries.
That and the fact that the script and actors are magnificent, deserves a 9,5 score.
Non of the films I have seen about Africa tell the real story. Making an acceptable, entertaining movie for everyone about the horror and abuse in Africa is a masterpiece. Engaging the right actors and the truth makes this movie one of my favorites. On top of it, since 2006, nothing has changed therefore the movie is as accurate today as it was in 2006.
I really love Africa fore it's beauty and wildlife and I stopped helping out the wounded,
physically and mentally injured people a year ago but I will still be 80% of the time in Africa (Having a Belgian nationality). My hart and home however will always be in Africa. Luckily there are plenty of peaceful areas to have adventures or live as close to nature to fill a couple of
Lifetimes.
Therefore you must see this movie to be aware of the reality in too many countries. Documentaries or movies about the beauty and wildlife you can find plenty. Visiting it is a must but 99,9% of the visitors are not aware of the horror. I do not recommend it to see it "life" and therefore also this movie is a "must see"
The Choice (2016)
You will need to watch it until the end why the title of the movie is "The Choice"
Surprisingly good plot. Original and real love throughout, certainly the last 20 minutes, the script.
I'm not a Romantic movie's lover and it takes a lot to feel emotionally touched.
You can count the Romantic movies I love on one hand and I'm only writing a review if that touch is still there seeing it a couple of years later again.
No spoilers in my reviews, you have to see it and judge for yourself.
Sure some minor details could have been better, if not, it deserved a 10/10. But why complain only about that, as some critics do, when the messaged is so clear and in total the film moves you.
You will for sure not regret seeing it (again)
The Best of Me (2014)
Comparable with the craftsmanship of the Notebook
I'm not really a fan of romantic movies and therefore only the best is good enough.
Despite the title of this review I also do not like to compare movies.
Sure maybe some critics find that the younger version of the characters have not a lot in common with the "present" in the movie but that is what live, bad choices and trauma's do to you.
An unexpected ending completes this beautiful movie which you have to see before judging.
It is even more rare for me to see a movie twice but only the best once only get a review after I get to see it again after a couple years. This one touched me as much as years ago.
It really moved me, which is rare and that is why I do get l (touch to) low score on IMDB.
Blue Lagoon: The Awakening (2012)
Just watch it without reference to other " brilliant " movies
It is not comparable with the classics but with minor recourses, no special effects, it is just fun to watch. Do not compare or overthink it.
Just lay back and enjoy.
Although some. Scenes maybe not realistic, overall it is even educating in a way. How people can change when they are out off there normal environment. Ok, this is only the positive view on it. It is more likely that at onetime one of them kills the other but that is why you should not overthink to much while watching it.
I just enjoined watching it on a lazy Sunday evening when I only needed some relaxing and than it is more than an ok movie.
The Nice Guys (2016)
Just good enough for an evening when your brain is overheated
It's nice, funny and a good story but that's it. No glamorous acting or brilliant script. Just tune your brain to zero and enjoy. Do not try overthinking because there's nothing at all to think about this movie.
Security (2017)
A family's movie at best
One word: cheesy. Probably nice for 10 years old children but that's it.
Survivor (2015)
If you do Like heroes. Do not watch this movie.
A good plot. Same for all the actors.
Of course if you see this kind of movie you can expect some actions that would be in reality probably not possible to pull of.
This comes with a hero's movie. If 9/11 did not happen and the movie was made, no one would believe that it would possible.
It is more unlikely that a number of suïcide take flight lessons and orchestrate a plot like 9/11, than the script of this movie.
James Bond is over the top for me but this is with a little artistic freedom but possible with a little imagination.
It is just fun to watch is you like a good movie just for amusement.
Mechanic: Resurrection (2016)
At least as good as the original "the Mechanic"
Less. Realistic and good script. Realistic
Even the "return" to pick up his job is not unrealistically. It all makes sense. Off cause some actions seem to be exaggerated for a normal human being. Conclusion: worth watching if you like "action"
Kramer vs. Kramer (1979)
It always was a good movie but after 43 years it gut another dimension and message. That makes it an even better movie to see NOW for young people and again for older ones
Of course we all know the movie therefor no need to go into the different layers. It is especially good because these days both parents can (do not have to) stay at home with the kids. Also the default is shared custody. My wife wanted to stay at home and supported me in any way an that was why I could become the youngest VP in an 80.000 people company. Sadly she passed away before our youngest was 3 but she never fled that the kids were holding her back. Shy loved to paint and organizing sleepovers and parties for kids. See the film again and compare situations and possibilities from then(1978) with today. I think that many things have improved but there is also still a lot to make better .
Manchester by the Sea (2016)
Stop those depressing movies
I don't see the point of this movie.
Does the producer or script writer want to show you how bad life can be so that you can feel a little better with your life? I can do even better. At the age of 36 I lost my wife and I was left alone with, thankfully, 2 children aged 3 and 6y. Lost my sister at 41 and my youngest when he was 22 He attended college for a masters degree. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Still, I still have good friends and so I stay social. Therefor .... Forget those depressing movies
