Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Horrifying in all the wrong ways
Horrible. Stupid. Bad. Almost funny, it is so poorly written and acted. I have to guess that the Director is responsible for the poor acting because most of the actors are usually quite talented. The script is horrible which most likely made the movie impossible to direct properly. So I am going to suggest that if you plan to sit through this piece of junk, have lots of snacks, and stay hydrated. I actually suggest watching with the volume down because visually it is not horrible.
Colin in Black and White (2021)
Not perfectly done, but important and compelling
Sometimes a story succeeds because of what it has to say, not necessarily because of how well it is told. The low rating clearly shows this country's political/social divide. A relative of mine asked me what Colin is financially worth, as to say what Colin has to say is not important because he is a multi-millionaire. His finances only allow him an opportunity to share his story which is what's important here. I am a white male. I've never been profiled, I have taken advantage of my opportunities through out my life. Bottom line, people who are not white are profiled constantly and are not awarded the same opportunities. Period. This show is simplified way to much, but makes a point so important it cannot be ignored.
Cry Macho (2021)
Clint Eastwood has a passion for filmmaking
I am a huge fan of Clint Eastwood. In his films there are often moments that grab me and hold on. Gran Torino did that successfully, as have so many other films he has made. Cry Macho was just hard to watch for reasons related to poor acting and sub par writing. I am not throwing stones here. I have way to much respect for Clint, the filmmaker and the actor. I hope he made this film because of his passion for life and just wanting to keep working at what he loves to do, make films.
Jane Fonda in Five Acts (2018)
A towering biography
So perfectly told. The humanity of Jane Fonda is shown here in a compelling documentary format. Our humanity is full of ups and downs as his hers. To see this film unfold over 5 acts is to see a life lived with mistakes and accomplishments. Hers is a rich life not only monetary, but emotionally and in her growth as a human being. She is a doer and watching her story will only make others want to do. That's a great story told greatly. The production values are first rate. A compelling watch.
Red River (1948)
At the heart of the great ones is always the script
I own it on DVD. I Watch it once a year. I chuckle at all the same moments. I love the score by the great Tiomkin. This is the movie that finally garnered some respect for the Duke's acting ability. Howard Hawk's is so consistent with his scripts. His movies are always a joy to listen to. The film was shot beautifully in black and white. It's definitely In my top 5 of all time greatest westerns. I only subtract 1 star for the hokey laughable ending. It's the only time during the film that I chuckle for the wrong reason.
Ray Donovan (2013)
Why go on. It's torturous
First of all Liev Schreiber is awesome. The writing and plot the last 2 seasons is not awesome, it's terrible. I'm trying to remember why I loved this show but it seems now a faint memory.
