Lucy (2014)
Isaac Newton worst nightmare 😂
I've always loved and adored many of Luc Besson's movies. But "Lucy"? This one just made me soooooo mad. It's one thing to bend the laws of physics and math for the sake of cinematic thrill-lots of action films do. However, this movie doesn't just bend these laws; it completely disregards and spits on them. Honestly, "Lucy" is the epitome of cinematic stupidity, and not in a funny or adorable way either; it's just plain upsetting.
The entire film feels like Besson, the genius behind "Leon," must've started chewing on paint from the walls while making this. How else can you explain such a drastic drop in quality?
After watching "Lucy," I felt like I needed a long, cleansing shower and a Stephen Hawking book to recover. Seriously, what was Luc Besson thinking? This movie is a hard pass for anyone who values their sanity and has any respect for science.
Daun Haus (2001)
Dostoevskynova
Down House offers a 'modern' reinterpretation of Fyodor Dostoevsky's "The Idiot," set in Russia at the turn of the millennium. This film successfully captures the absurd atmosphere of the era while retaining the core message of one of the greatest novel of all time.
It feels like a collision between Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" and Chekhov's "Ward No. 6," imbued with a blend of self-irony and profound sadness. It sends the message that to live in Russia, one must be mentally ill and yet kind, intelligent, sarcastic, and pure - loving it and hating it simultaneously, tormented by it, and finding peace in it.
It reveals the main point of Russia - an internal conflict, which makes some people great and some so very shallow.
