The Second Entry (Dun-dun-duh)
13 August 2003
Why in God's name did this film get a four? I don't understand it! Okay, so it's not as good as the first one, but it's really close. If we were to compare the parts of the film, it would look something like this:

Beginning: Nightmare 1 wins here. It's more mysterious than 2. In 1 Tina's in a boiler room with Fred Krueger scratching his knives on things. In 2 Jesse's on a bus and suddenly Krueger's driving and they're on some sort of pillar with lava below them.

Middle: I don't want to retell every part of both movies, so I'll just tell you who wins: Number 1, but not by a whole lot, sort of a 10-9 thing. 1 has more suspense, 2 has more plot development and explains things better. But in 1, we care about the characters more. And that's why it wins.

End: That would go to 2. The climax is more exciting. In 1 the ending kind of sucked, with bringing Krueger into the real world with Nancy putting traps all over the place... Yeah, it was nor so good. But in 2 he comes into the real world and starts killing kids at a party. It was way better.

I really don't have to retell the plot because everybody else has told it correctly, so I'll just give my recommendation: SEE THIS MOVIE!

Interested in wetting your pants?

Freddy Krueger will always be scarier than Jason Voorhees. And do you know why that is? Because Jason can't do anything super-cool, just cut you into swiss cheese. Freddy Krueger can take an ordinary thing, like a blanket, for example, and use it to kill somebody. Or in Part Five, where a diving board comes to life and almost kills a girl.

In dreams, anything can happen, and Freddy uses this to his advantage. Although there's a low body count (which I think is one of the strengths because it shows that the movie isn't about the blood and gore) it's extremely creepy. Yay for Wes Craven!

I guess I'm supposed to write out the plot, so here it goes: Fred Krueger was a child murderer who killed over 30 kids. He was arrested, but the court couldn't throw him in jail because of some technicality. So a bunch of parents got together and fried him. Freddy Krueger exists now as a dream demon, who kills kids in their dreams. He's after the kids whose parents killed him, and only Nancy, one of the kids, knows what's really going on.

I'd recommend this film to just about everybody. And, no, the sequels don't wreck this movie: Some of them are really, really good, just not great like this one. It's not an overly gory flick, just really, really scary. Watch for Freddy Versus Jason this month!

PS I hope Freddy kicks Jason's ass!

A Truly Horrifying Experience
12 January 2003
There are three characters that make you think of truly terrifying horror, and they are Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger. Michael Myers' "Halloween" is deffinately a classic, filled with suspnese and chilling music. Jason Voorhees' "Friday the 13th" didn't even star Jason until Part Two. The movie was probably the dumbest movie ever made. And neither were particularly scary. Probably because everybody knows that people don't go on murderous killing sprees because the people they're stalking are between 17 and 26. Wes Craven read a news article about a group of kids who died after having violent nightmares of a creepy killer. Of course, everybody has dreams, so what better way to scare people than to find something that occurs in everyday life and put a murderous twist on it? After this, he created Nightmare pn Elm Street, one of the scariest movies ever made. The killer, as said above, is Freddy Krueger, a child murderer who was killed by a group of parents after being declared innocent of his crimes. He now exists as a dream demon; if he kills you in a dream, you die in real life. He's hunting down the children of the ones who killed him, and they don't seem to stand a chance, until one of them, Nancy, learns Freddy's moves and takes a stand in a truly amazig showdown. This is the movie for all horror fans to see!

Classic?
3 January 2003
Friday the 13th is one of those movies that should appear at the drive-in and never go any farther. It's the kind of movie people go to see just to get their girlfriend scared and make out with her later. And now it's on video. What a coincidence. In short, it's not scary; we never see the killer until the end of the movie, and until then it's weapons in the corner of the screen, or a first-person view. The plot of the movie is better constructed than what I expected from a slasher, and that's a good thing, considering that it's sequels are just Jason running around slaughtering people for no reason, excpet that they're between the ages of 17 and 25. The movie begins with two camp councillors being killed by an unknown stalker at Camp Chrystal Lake in 1957. Fast forward to 1980, where a group of teens plan on re-opening the camp. Of course, someone is there watching them, but we don't know who. A bunch of people get killed, and the killer is finally revealed in the end, and the worst chase ever ensues. (I'm afraid I'm not going to spoil the rest for you, because it's a surprise, but a surprise you shouldn't bother finding out for yourself.) Aside from a good plot, Friday the 13th has nothing, not even Jason (That's right, big-bad Jason doesn't make his debut until Part Two). It's a movie that a lot of people see and that a lot of people liked, but maybe some day, we'll all come to our senses.

Better than Evil Dead 2
18 August 2002
After being dissapointed with Evil Dead 2, I wasn't sure whether or not to rent Army of Darkness. But I did, and this time I knew what to expect. It was going to be an adventure, a comedy, a fantsy and a horror. So i watched it, and I loved it! The movie starts where Evil Dead 2 left off: Ash in the Middle Ages. Now he has to find the Book of the Dead to stop and army of Deadites from awakening and destroying a kingdome. As you would have guessed, he accidently unleashes the Army of Darkness. What I liked about this film is that the blood wasn't really exaggerated, except for the start of the movie. From then on, it was seemingly realistic blood and gore, and not a lot of it. The acting has improved by ten points this time, even from Bruce Campbell, making him the best of the bunch. This movie was bizarre in it's own little way, but not as much as Evil Dead 2. There were times that you'd laugh because it was so stupid and wierd, and other times when you'd laugh because it was funny. I wouldn't recommend this to Raiders fans, but if you like Joe Dirt/Monty Python humor, with an adventure touch unlike any other movie, I highly recommend this film. ********/10

Evil Dead II (1987)

Aweful
18 August 2002
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS When I first read about the Evil Dead series on IMDb, I was wanting to seethan big-hit blockbusters like XXX, and Austin Powers. The first one I saw was Evil Dead 2, and I remember renting it because I wanted to be scared so bad I couldn't sleep. Didn't happen. Instead I got the most bizarre film I have ever seen, and probably ever will see. Okay, the outlne: Tough-guy Ash goes to a cabin with his girlfriend Linda, and Ash finds a tape-recorder. He plays it, and the translations on the tape unleash some evil spirit, which possesses his girlfriend. Ash ends up cutting her head off with a shovel. A SHOVEL! Anyway, other people come to the cabin, and they all start getting killed. The acting was just brutal, I mean horrible. The only decent acting came from Bruce Campbell, though he didn't do a lot of talking until the other people arrived. So his part wasn't too difficult. The blood was largely exaggerated; blood spews from someone when they get killed, which doesn't realy happen in the real world (I don't know about the wide-world of film-crap.). Okay, now, on a good part, I laughed. But the reason I HATE this movie, is because I wasn't looking for a laugh, I was looking for a scare. So if you like your horror movies... Stay away from this one, PLEASE! *

Scary Movie (2000)

Hysterical!
29 March 2002
This movie is just too funny to dislike. While Scary Movie 2 focusses mostly on slapstick, the first one goes into the drug and sex humor, which they make hilarious. Scary Movie has many plot twists, characyer changes and surprises that it always made you want more. Doofy is rightfully funny, and as are Shorty and Ray, my three favourites. It spoofs many films, such as The Matrix, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer and more, which seems to really add to the film. Scary Movie is highly recommended, an A-.

An awesome sci-fi/action!
15 November 2001
Aliens is a great movie... The design of the aliens are amazing, the action is spectacular, and the plot... Could've been better, but to me, who the hell cares about A plot? All that matters is the appearance and acting abilities. I'll have to admit, I haven't been able to see Alien, but I'm planning on it! I'd recommend this to anyone with a taste for sci-fi/action/horror/thrillers!

A Really Cool Season Of Spawn
9 August 2001
Warning: Spoilers
This season was great. Although I am disappointed that this one, as well as the first two, was for Mature Audiences Only. As I said with Spawn 2, if they could tone it down a bit, then it would attract a bigger audience. In this Season, Spawn is stalked by a Bounty Hunter from Heaven named Jade, who, in my opinion, is much like Angela in the comic book series. This one also features a man eating Angel named Lilly. Some of it gruesome. I wish that Todd could make a Season 4 of Spawn. Nothing really happens to the characters in the end. Spawn is still in the process of being convinced to stop living a life of violence, Wanda's left pregnate, Wynn's still alive... If McFarlane decides to continue the series, he should rap it up. I hope he's planning on continuing it... We're all in suspense! C'mon! I give it 10 strong stars out of, well, 10. An awesome film... Take the kids! j/k 10/10

Spawn (1997–1999)
10/10
OK, a great series, but a little over the top.
27 July 2001
OK, right to the point: Spawn 2 is a graphic depiction of all that is Spawn. Remember the first season? That was a classic, is what it was. Not a whole lot of gore, but enough. Spawn 2 is over the top with everything: Adult situations, graphic violence, strong language, extreme gore and nudity. I don't remember Spawn with nudity, do you? The movie is really cool, but could attract a better audience if it was just the following: Violence and some language. Same with the first. Good side is, the have an edited version, but I think it's best to stick with what the edited version is. Spawn 2, let's face it, may be a good show, but doesn't quite fit in with Spawn. "Mature Audiences Only." Why make it like that? OK, to the real point, not just complaining about being "innapropriate": Spawn 2 is an awesome movie. The animation is fantastic, and even though the Clown and Cogliostro are annoying, they are still quite cool. A recommendation.

Fallout (1997 Video Game)

A classic RPG!
25 July 2001
Fallout is the best RPG ever to hit the computer. Although it sometimes gets a little complicated, the voices of the important characters are voiced perfectly. It's not like 007 The World Is Not Enough for the N64 consol system where it sounds it a bunch of first-timers, Fallout is the best. It is the BEST!

The Matrix (1999)

A Sci-Fi Classic!!!!
25 July 2001
The Matrix is one movie that is hard to get tired of. I have seen it exactly 164 times and still love it!!!!! The pros of this movie are: Amazing effects, really cool action, and an excellent soundtrack. The cons: Only real action is at the end, at some points hard to understand. Other than that, it is highly recommended.

ps To the MPAA,

What were you thinking when you rated this movie? Give it a PG-13 for crying out loud!

Spawn (1997)

A personal favorite.
25 July 2001
I remember first seeing this on TBS as a special "WORLD BROADCAST PREMIERE". I loved it but, but the thing with the Superstation is it takes out all the good parts. So, I rented it at the local video store (which in this case was Blockbuster Video). I was AMAZED at the movie. I later declared myself a dedicated Spawn fan. When I first was rating this movie, I felt like giving it a 10. But then I remembered it's special effects. So I narrowed it down to a nine. Over all, Spawn is one of my favorite movies, topped only by The Matrix and The Mummy. Highly recommended.

Why bother?
25 July 2001
Let me put it this way: The whole point of the movie is Sean Connery gaining the ability to control the weather. Now, what kind of idiot would make a movie about that? Ray Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sean Connery are magnificent...... NOT. They are horrible. I don't mind Sean in movies like Highlander or the James Bond films, but in this case, he bites the big one. No comment about Ray of Uma, this is the only movie I've seen either of them in. Just don't watch, dammit, forget about the whole movie. Not recommended at all
