Exit Wounds (2001)
6/10
One of the best Seagal movies!
13 March 2008
Now I purchased Exit Wounds last week for only $4, and while I have heard from what films Seagal made in 2003-2007 were not that good, I knew something unique was going to be in this movie if I was going to watch it, and something unique was really there.

Orin Boyd (Steven Seagal) is a stressed-out cop who has been moved to a ghetto precinct due to a ballsy ego to save a vice president, but as he progresses to crack a drug case and meanwhile trying to get along with his new boss, Lt.Annette Mulcahy (Jill Hennessy) he realizes that some kind of corruption is taking place within the department. For Orin, trying to crack a drug case and getting along with his fellow officers is close to impossible, but when he is signed to work with a reserved partner George Clark (Isaiah Washington), who also realizes that something deep is taking place, their teamwork is what counts. As Orin gets a lead on a Latrell Walker (DMX), and his quirky, comical criminal friend T.K. Johnson (Anthony Anderson).. a game of cat and mouse occurs within the streets of L.A. and a war is taking place. With more evidence coming up from the lead drug dealer Latrell, it becomes apparent that much of the operation is taking place by the cops in Orin's own precinct, and now it's up to Orin to stop the inside dirty work of his own department and restore peace in the city of L.A..

Supported cast stars: Michael Jai White, Bruce McGill, Bill Duke, and Tom Arnold.

This movie was really good.. I recommend this to anyone who is a Seagal fan. Awesome cast, awesome story and really just very awesome action scenes, I mean Seagal plays in a form I have never seen and it convinces me strongly, so concluding this review, I say.. go buy or rent it, which ever you prefer.. it's a darn good action flick, its not a intelligent action flick, but it's one that Seagal really shows his redemption as a action star.

By the way, the anger class scenes with Seagal are funny!

Rush Hour 3 (2007)

Carter and Lee are back!
12 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
After a reference of Rush Hour 3 in the outtakes of Rush Hour 2, I got pretty pumped and after 6 years, it was really worth the wait.. I know some people may think, "well within those 6 years Rush Hour 3 and perhaps a fourth one would be made" but I think Rush Hour 3 came in a right time and concluded this years streak of the number "3" for sequels on a good note..

Now about Rush Hour 3, this time around Carter and Lee are parted back to investigate the troubling issues of one Ambassador Han (Tzi Ma), a leader of organization that its primary objective is to get rid of the remaining Triads that are a threat to the World Court Council and its leader, Reynard (Max Von Sydow) but when Ambassador Han gets shot and Han's daughter Soo Yung (Jingchu Zhang) gets kidnapped, it leads Carter and Lee on a chase to stop the Triads and it eventually leads them to the city of love, Paris. There Carter and Lee must find the source of the Triads and it's leader.. Kenji (Hiroyuki Sanada), who is Lee's long lost brother. Roaming the streets of Paris, Carter and Lee then run into a neurotic cab driver named George (Yvan Attal) who is now part of the chase and becomes their cabbie for this game of cat and mouse. With Carter and Lee now in the city of love, watching every angle.. they must put an end to the Triads and rescue Soo Yung.

To me Rush Hour 3 was a very good installment, I've read some reviews where it's been said that in this movie there seems to be more humor and less action.. well the humor played a key factor in the first and second Rush Hour and I believe for Rush Hour 3, they got it just right. In my opinion expected humor is more funnier than accidental humor but this is Rush Hour and they share both qualities and so saying that, Rush Hour 3 was very good and I can't wait for Rush Hour 4....

The Cable Guy (1996)
8/10
The best dark/comedy of the mid 90's
2 August 2007
In this 1996 comedy, Steve (Matthew Broderick) is one ordinary guy who has just moved into a new apartment but when he makes an appointment with a cable guy to setup his cable, that is when hell breaks lose.. very immediately, his cable guy Chip (Jim Carrey) is deeply involved in Steve's life and his relationship with Robin (Leslie Mann).. with Chip's fixation with his customer Steve, it causes a dispute and it provokes Steve to push Chip out of his life but then Chip strikes back with those most menacing tactics, with everything from stealing his girlfriend, screwing with his cable and blackmailing Steve...

For this 1996 comedy/thriller it really unleashes the dark, menacing, quirky side of Jim Carrey and it's a side to keep you laughing or on the edge of your seat, this movie has the characteristics of the 1991 comedy, "What About Bob?" but this is to me one of Jim Carrey's memorable roles.. some others may think Ace Ventura, Lloyd Christmas or The Mask but when I think of Jim Carrey, I think of The Cable Guy and thats why this is probably the best dark/comedy of the mid 90's...

Mortal Kombat meets The Goonies....
30 July 2007
In this 80's classic it tells the tale of Jack Burton (Kurt Russell), as a trucker who revisits Chinatown, San Fransisco to catch back up with old times but when his friend's love interest gets kidnapped by a group of gangs, it bring out a whole bigger story.

As Jack tries to understand what's going on, Gracie Law (Kim Cattrall) a lawyer in Chinatown reveals the story of one David Lo Pan (James Hong), a Chinese emperor that have been dead for thousands of years has resurrected for the cause of finding his true love that bears a rare gift, green eyes. With Jack Burton not fully grasping the situation, him and a group of people go out on a quest to search for David Lo Pan under the streets of Chinatown and take down the underground kingdom, where magic and all things are possible.

This action/adventure/fantasy really keeps your heart racing and to watch this movie you must free your mind of what seems impossible and that is what makes it entertaining.

Do you believe in magic?
