Station Eleven (2021)
Wow! What an amazing series!
I'm blown away by this show, I really expected it to be pretty ho hum seeing the main theme involved characters playing Shakespeare's plays, but what a surprise this show was!
The story line is very complicated, surreal, and intertwined most of the time, and very poignant at other times. It's a cleverly written, and beautifully executed, and unique story!
Doctor Who: Vincent and the Doctor (2010)
A powerhouse of emotion! Amazing episode!
Try as I might I just cannot watch this without a tear to the eyes, this is such a beautiful, original, and incredibly touching Dr Who episode. Bill Nighy of course is just superb as always, and just helps elevate the show to an even greater height.
Just the thought of what they did for Vincent is so poignant, and executed to perfection!
What an absolutely amazing episode, along with Blink this is one of my two all time favourite Dr Who shows!
The Art of the Steal (2013)
Everything you could want in a film!
Is it high brow, no, will it win an Oscar, no, but for me this is just a perfect 10/10 film!
It's got absolutely terrific performances by some really great actors, there's the occasional bit of comedy, mixed in with some action and drama, and of course a great sting. And some genuinely hilarious lines, especially by Terence Stamp, he was just a pure joy to watch in action!
This film is a shining example of what entertainment is all about!
John Carter (2012)
Fantastic film!
I really don't understand the lower reviews this film got, yes it deviates from the books, but what a fantastic job the crew has done in producing this film!
It's a pure enjoyment fest with action, drama, romance, and humour in the right amounts. As far as sheer enjoyment goes, it hits the mark beautifully.
This is one of my favourite go to films when I just want to chill!
The Equalizer (2021)
No, just No!
Even though the Denzel releases had their own minor flaws, they were entertaining and the actor suited the role, and the story was interesting. In this reboot however it just seems ludicrous to have cast Queen Latifah in this role, even though she does do good roles elsewhere.
It just was a bit on the nose, I won't be watching it.
Pressing On: The Letterpress Film (2017)
Sensational and beautifully moving docco!
This film was just a joy from start to finish, quite moving at times, fascinating throughout. It's a great tribute, and celebration of the sheer passion and joy people bring to an almost forgotten art. Beautifully done!
