The Philadelphia Story (1940)
One of the all time great movies
Never get tired of watching this hilarious classic. It also provided an opportunity for me to talk with my daughter about how women's roles have changed since the 1940's which was a golden side benefit to the fun story. (What would Ruth do today? What would we think of Uncle Willy today? In what ways is Tracy strong? Who were the good men and in what way?)
The Shack (2017)
Gut wrenching AND massively inspiring
Love love love this movie. The way God is depicted here will have you thinking and thinking and thinking for days after you're done watching the movie. Beautiful cliche breaker.
Billy Elliot (2000)
Love this movie
This is a super fun movie. The scenes of violence are disturbing but true to the history of the time. So much here about a father's love, sacrifice, being true to one's self, loving each other for who we are. I defy anyone to watch that final scene and not be moved to tears.
A Knight's Tale (2001)
A rollicking fun movie
So much to love here. Great music, fun characters, great story.
Overcomer (2019)
I watch this movie over and over
This is one of my favorite inspirational movies. I did not have a supportive father figure growing up and I love the relationship between the father and the daughter here. Characters are very human, very flawed and yet rise above their limitations to achieve. It's a great message, it's a well done movie. And I love it.
