The Barefoot Contessa (1954)
The real mystery
The story itself. Got an Academy Award, among others - but it seems odd as the story line and dialogue seemed contrived and forced, and the acting strained as a result. Maybe post war sympathies approv d of it a little more than time would, but it was a disappointment. Bogart can always do Bogart, but I bet he went home scratching his head. So it's good to get the history of this film, and the little insights of those days revealed. It was satisfying to see an overstuffed potato get what's coming to him. More, the Orlando could do well, especially Americans, to see what the world looked like in the 1950's. It wasn't limited to the movies. It was found in every town, home and business all across America. Attending, we're Edwardian manners. It's in color so maybe it will find a modern audience that just might take notice.
Last Call (2002)
Hollow-wood.
Insightful look at the emotional life of Fitzgerald, lost; as he struggles between a life of the mind and elusive happiness in the real world.. if only he could have imagined a better story for himself.
Cashback (2006)
What can happen if we seek the authentic life lived with eyes wide open.
Brilliant! Under rated by far too many. Breakthrough the ordinary to another view of reality to experience life lived unscripted. In the end. Redemption. Simply genius.
