Jury Duty (2023)
Solid 8/10
I thought this would be along the lines of Impractical Jokers where it's just a bunch of giddy, juvenile idiots, who then go on to publicly embarrass themselves, with their friend in tow.
It wasn't like that at all. I'm struggling slightly to convey how good this is without seeming like I'm paid to do so. Because it genuinely is very good. Not "knock your socks of amazeballs", but certainly "laughing out loud for real, not the almost meaningless 'lol' crap".
With that said:
The solid acting from James Marsden pulls it altogether.
However, that's not to discredit anyone else. Everyone's performance were brilliantly acted.
Added to the fact that the writers had written an exception script for this very specific, very niche, very different and unique screenplay.
As mentioned, not an impractical jokers kinda guy, but the plots, the cringe, the naivety from Ronald, the only cast out of the loop, adds fantastically to the set up.
And you can really see all his genuine amazement, shock and bewilderment and joy from the scenes played out in front of him.
Whomever was the cast director deserves an Oscar. I mean, these people were perfect for exactly every role they played. To the point where one can say: The didn't play the part, they lived it.
Well done and hopefully a season 2 can come out if this stays just below the radar that they can catch another fish for this.
As per my review, a solid eight. Which for this type of show in my opinion, is excellent. Potentially a 9 or 10 score won't exist unless it is in Zuckerberg's Meta Universe where you can play by physically be there and the options are multiple choice, which will direct the experience in certain directions, but you take a "physical" part of the show and not simply the "fly on the wall viewer"
Anyway, enjoy, don't enjoy, but by the Gods, man... Give it a Go!
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Flawless Cinematography
A big, bold statement that is backed up with big, bold explosive scenes.
36 years in the making and truly benefiting from a "quality over quantity".
And boy doees it show!
Justice Served (2022)
Stoke the flames for financial gains
Way to go, Netflix. Congratulations.
South Africa have massive racial tension, as does the US and West.
But what do people's lives matter when you can capitalise on that suffering?
And talk about putting ideas into people's heads when the powers that be have let so many of us down, let's make people believe they can take that power back! Bravo 👏
Bill Burr Presents: Friends Who Kill (2022)
Puts the 'Special' in 'Comedy Special'
This was bizarre to say the least.
It's starts bad with Michelle Wolffs' god awful set, then reaches new depths of low with Steph Tolev. Acting like some sex depraved goblin creature, which wouldn't work even if a man tried to do this.
Had to stop with 24 minutes left. I just couldn't do it.
Morbius (2022)
The Matrix was done... 23 Years Ago!
If you think mas1erbating into a sock is similar to having sex, then maybe, just maybe, you'll find this film amazing.
I was 14 when they released the first Matrix film and it blow everyone's mind away with the slow motion bullet cameras (1200 frames per second or something).
In the years since, they've done it all with that technology.
This film, however, seems to not be aware a thousand or more movies having already been there and done that, and decided to take the viewer on a "Slow-Mo-ride-of-yourlife-adventure".... Or something.
I didn't dislike the film. But I was far from impressed.
The script was hollow and really easy to read from the beginning.
The acting was good. The visuals were good. But just boring, I suppose.
Before watching I did find myself chuckling at the posters "A New Marvel Legend is Born" it proclaimed...
Every time the advert guys print 'Legendary' 'Collectable' 'limited addition' 'Must have'.... It's never for the things that those words are genuinely prescribed to.
Anyway, not a bad film to pass the time and keep up to date with Marvel etc.
But not a notch on the bedpost, for sure.
The Lost City (2022)
Does what it says on the tin
To be mad at this film is like being mad at a microwave meal, expecting it to taste like restaurant quality. So I'm giving this a generous 7, simply because there's nothing bad to say about this film.
It's exactly what you should expect.
High budget, good acting, easy to watch and enjoyable. With a few things thrown in, like Brad Pitts role which I hadn't expected.
If you're watching this for something new/ original, then you've come to the wrong place.
This came out around the same time as Unchartered and it's very similar. The only difference is you can actually complain about Unchartered and the lost opportunity it had to be something punchy, well-written and original.
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Unnecessary Bad Reviews
This is getting unnecessary harsh reviews (and probably from people who've barely passed puberty).
Look guys, I'm sorry all your favourite A-List celebrities didn't cast for the roles. But I'm sure they did the best with what they had.
And as for the "they can't recreate anime", you're out of your mind.
I watched Bebop when it can out and I was blown away with the special effects on this show.
I couldn't help but think that the sets and effects were (literally) out of this world.
You have to be a very spoiled individual if you aren't taken aback by what they can now do visually with sets. It shows they can create anything the mind can image. It's amazing how far we've come.
You could actually imagine the ports and other worlds. Something that in 1998 was impossible to capture and conceive the mind. It was, after all, just anime. This is visually stunning and you can really picture what Elon Musk has in mind for Mars... More McDonald's adverts and dive bars.
Which is probably truer to human nature than some utopian holiday destination.
Regardless, as I said, this is getting unnecessary harsh reviews.
It deserves at least a 7.2 and plus. It has its faults, but the story line is good and true. The acting is good, the visuals are fantastic and it all comes together to leave the viewer wanting more.
All the nay-sayers should just carry on reading comics and appreciate that this is introducing a new medium to something they love.
Rather than jeopardising another series by beating on it with crap like "Benedict Cumberbach would have been a better Vicious" "There is nothing good about this" blah, blah, blah.
I'm giving a 10 to raise its score, but admittedly I think it's about a 7.5.
Swedish Dicks (2016)
10 out of 10 (Seriously)
I LOVE this show!
While I've rated 10 out 10, it's probably a 7.3-7.9, which it would deserve greatly.
The acting and script writing are simple excellent. Much better than Brookyn 99.
Why? If you can get laugh after laugh, all the while you're spending a fraction of they do on shows like Big Bang Theory or Parks and Recreation or Scrubs, you know there is actual works of genius coming from the actors and screenwriters.
When you don't need someone holding a 'Clap' or 'cheer' aign.
Needs to explore character depth more if we can bring it back.
Try this show, you won't refrer4!
