Alkitrang dugo (1975)
A decent adaptation of a literary masterpiece
I recently came across this one on the TFCNow website. I see no one has left a review yet so I figure I might as well be the first. I'm surprised this one never got a wider release, since after all it is based on what is often considered a literary masterpiece, Lord of the Flies. The film remains fairly true to the novel but does take a few liberties in some places. For instance, there are now females trapped on the island as well, whereas in the original it was all males. The film is comparable in quality to the original 1963 black and white version, both being far superior to the 90s remake. Perhaps one reason this film never got a wider release is that it has been adapted primarily for a Filipino audience. That is, the story deals with clashes between Filipino social classes unknown to western audiences. As it stands I had trouble finding a subtitled copy. English is spoken occasionally but it helps to be fluent in Tagalog.
Shoot 'Em Up (2007)
He kills people with carrots...
...then says funny things like "Eat your vegetables" and "Eh, what's up doc?" He shoots holes in oil cans and slides through the oil while shooting people. Then he cuts off people's hands and uses them to shoot their personalized firearms, which require the owner's thumbprint (right or left?) in order to be fired properly. He ties strings to guns and controls them like puppets. Then he shoots people while making love to a beautiful Bolivian (a play on Eve 6's "beautiful oblivion") and says something like "Talk about blowing your load!" He throws carrots to create a diversion and while everyone is shooting at the carrots, he shoots at them with his puppet-guns. When he runs out of guns he picks up bullets off the floor and sticks them in the fire, then the bullets shoot out of his hand and kill people. And when people give him the finger he shoots their fingers off, but he can't pull the trigger with his finger because it's burnt from sticking it in the fire, so he has to pull the trigger with a carrot.
