The Breadwinner (2017)
Afghanistan's A little Princess... except this is more realistic than we would hope for
The point of "A little Princess" in my opinion, is to sustain the idea of childhood innocence as what it should be. Children should be children and enjoy their innocence ... in a perfect world. But Parvana, this Little Princess with all its innocence, is sadly stuck on the real world, and she is forced to take all her courage and all her mental and physical strength to survive the reality that many countries in the Middle East are suffering. It is an animated film that wants to be friendly to small ones and to grown ups, that which presents us with an extremely important message, while at the same time providing us with an excellent cinematographic creation. And yes... this film should have won the Oscar.
RAISE YOUR WORDS, NOT YOUR VOICE. IT IS RAIN THAT MAKES THE FLOWERS GROW, NOT THUNDER.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
An inmersive experience with no time to rest
I watched this film without any previous Mad Max experience (so keep that in mind while reading this), but now I can't wait to watch the other 3 films! Definitely is not an everybody-will-like-it film, but if you are one of those Zack Snyder 300 and Sucker Punch facet fans, you HAVE to check out this George Miller film. Not only is a really cool fatal feminism film, but it has this amazing post-apocalyptic scenario with a lot to say about radical religion; all this with over the edge road battle scenes during the whole film.
Sztuka kochania. Historia Michaliny Wislockiej (2017)
Breaking taboos about love and sexuality
This is the story of a Dr. who wants to publish her book on female sexuality in Polland during the 70s. If that is not interesting enough for you, this film is about a very different view of love, love as sexual satisfaction, love as a role in life, love as a moral value. With an amazing develop of the main characters, some humor, and quality in all production and direction departments, this film is a great respite for female sexuality.
Nocturnal Animals (2016)
The theme you must understand before watching this film.
It was only after I saw an interview with the director, Tom Ford, that I understood the real theme of the film. And once you get that theme, believe me... you are going to love it. The goods are not going to look so good, and the weak are going to look powerful to you. If you want to know the theme keep reading, if not... don't worry I won't give any spoilers. Just a hint: remember the big painting, there is your theme. Don't miss this film.
