Biased expose of police violence
15 February 2024
The purpose of this documentary is to villainize police for officer involved shootings. Given who produced it and when it was released, it's meant to piggyback on the public outcry following the death of George Floyd. While it does expose some potential examples of excessive force and cases where the police could have potentially changed their tactics, it fails to address the root issue; most of the victims of police shootings are people with a criminal background and are often shot during the commission of a crime or while not complying with police commands. In this case of this documentary, they portray the police as cold blooded killers who murdered innocent people, as if it was for sport, even though it's fairly clear to the audience that several of these shootings could have been avoided had the victims not put themselves in a precarious position.

They also make it seem as if officer involved shootings are a common occurrence but fail to mention that they represent a small fraction of all police contacts with the public. It's worth watching if you're open to getting a different perspective on the issue, but it should be viewed through a critical lens.

Started great but fell apart halfway through
12 October 2022
This started out as a mysterious and suspenseful film, but it was ruined for me about halfway through when the story line became completely far fetched. It was an unexpected twist, but unfortunately not believable enough to keep me interested. It's a shame, because there are many more believable directions the the storyline could gone, but unfortunately the writers went the wrong way in my opinion. Other than my issues with how the story unfolded, the acting was decent and the tension between the couple in the film drew me in and kept me interested until the unfortunate story twist. On a positive note, the location was a great choice. The Oregon coast is beautiful and makes for a great filming location.

I was hoping this would be a good film but unfortunately it was a disappointment for me.

Great movie with new details about Randy's early days
31 May 2022
This movie is different from other attempts at documentaries, and the few books about Randy's life, in that it goes into much more detail about the early days of his musical journey as well as his time in Quiet Riot. The history revealed in the interviews and narration were very insightful. The only drawback was that music from his time with Ozzy wasn't permitted for use in the film, which was unfortunate. I'd consider this a must see film for diehard fans of Randy as well as anyone with an interest in the history of the LA rock music scene.

Good movie, great soundtrack, not so great acting
31 May 2022
The movie's plot was intriguing, but the way it played out was a bit far fetched. Too much happened in a short period of time, and some of the situations were made to be far more serious than they actually were. There was a lot of teen angst and melodrama, which will probably resonate better with younger viewers, but it was somewhat cringeworthy to watch as an adult. The acting performances weren't great, but that's understandable given it was an indie with a fairly inexperienced young cast. However, that also made it somewhat appealing in a strange way. Overall, it was a fairly wholesome movie. The soundtrack was excellent, and even though it was mostly 80s alternative and punk music, it would probably be enjoyable for any audience. The filming locations were probably the best part, as they capture some of the beauty of California's Central Coast while also portraying the agricultural areas that are an important part of America's breadbasket and provide much needed jobs to local residents and migrant workers.
