While this movie has very nice, pretty songs and lovely animation/ visuals, I very strongly dislike it. I think it is frankly a nasty glorification of a chain of horrific events in the history of the continent and spreads the wrong idea entirely. The real girl this was loosely based off of had an immeasurable amount of trauma and so did her relatives and friends and I think this movie is just kind of pointless and gross and does not accomplish anything good for how settler and native relations are historically perceived. Also I think it's stupid how they could just magically speak the same language with the power of their hearts like come on 😭🙏 . Also there was clearly not a lot of effort put into designing the native characters and practices to be anywhere near historically accurate. Yeah I do not think this movie is a good representation of anything.. like it could be worse I GUESS but it is certainly not good.

I really loved this movie I think it is sweet and mundane and emotional it just feels like a cozy and wonderful place to be. The incest scare is not ideal but at least it's not actually incest😋🙌 but this movie is very pretty and very wonderful and simply a joy to watch I am a big fan!! It's not the most standout Ghibli movie to me but I loved watching it and I think it is very nice!

I watched this movie for the first time with my grandmom and I've been meaning to rewatch it! It is absolutely stunning in every way. The cinematography is some of the best I've ever seen and the locations/sets are breathtaking. It is incredibly sweet and beautiful and well made and the visual metaphors are bonkers beyond words like so so good😭🙏🙏 . It is just a wonderful immersive movie to experience and evokes such emotions!! It is so poignant and quite subtle and delicate it is just such a wonderful and lovely movie. It is is one ofMy faves I have got to watch it again soon oh boy!!

I grew up watching this movie and watched it every day for weeks as a tiny little child and had stuffed animals resembling the little creatures in the movie <3 I think it stands the test of time and is genuinely my favorite movie of all time even when I'm almost an adult and have seen a lot of movies. It makes me cry from the very first moment and I consistently end up freaking out by the end, not because it's sad but because it is just simplicity and hope and sweetness at its finest. This movie is so incredibly cute and funny and iconic, and has a wonderful message about lifelong friendships and generational friendships and is honestly quite an eloquent story about coming of age even though it takes place over the span of a year with a dog and a cat that don't even talk. I absolutely treasure this movie and I make time to watch it every so often because it makes me lose my absolute marbles like it puts me in complete emotional shambles I love it so much. Clearly I have a nostalgic bias towards it but I think it is genuinely wonderful nonetheless. The animal abuse allegations against the production are a little bit very concerning and I encourage everyone to do their own research even though it is hard to read and hard to think of the movie the same after reading about it. ... Not gonna lie when I learned about it it was quite upsetting and childhood ruining and I hope that at least some of it is not true but. I don't think watching this film today contributes further to film animal abuse but it is important to keep in mind and important to not support modern movies that don't protect their little creatures in production. I do think that aside from that glaring and miserable aspect this movie is a beloved tale for me. I watch the English dub and narration is funny and lovely!

I absolutely ADORE this movie I think it is nearly perfect. I watch it usually in the middle of the night with my best friend and we both end up sobbing by the end. The writing is incredible, emotional yet realistic and subtle. All 3 of the actors who play Chiron did an incredible job, and the characters are complex, lovable, and flawed. It is an important look into a time and place and how a person's identities intersect in their environment. All the scenes on the beach are absolutely incredible, this movie is visually stunning. It is Miserable and gruelling at times but it is so sweet and wonderful and relevant. This movie is absolutely a masterpiece and a proud 10/10 !!

I loved this movie when I watched it last year at like 1 am <3 it can be a little slow and emotionless at times and once again the blonde/brunette period piece lesbians are kind of a tired trope but this movie is truly wonderful. The cinematography is beautiful and the casting is excellent and it is just a very important film I think. It is beautiful and emotional and intimate. It is not only an important glimpse at lesbian relationships but also at women's friendships in a way that decenters the male gaze a lot. This movie is very wonderful and important and it is a real treat to watch, it is truly beautiful! Not one of my favorite movies of all time but I adore it .

I wanted to love this movie SO bad I adore old musicals and fun lighthearted movies but something about this movie was absolutely unbearable to me. It was just hammy and ridiculous but in a boring secondhand embarrassment kind of way but I wish I liked it so bad because it is such a cultural staple GRRRR. The casting is odd to be honest I think it is very silly to cast almost entirely white people as Puerto Ricans like . That was certainly a choice. Yeah I just did not like it at all I appreciate it's important place in pop culture but it is not even a little bit for me I couldn't make it through the whole thing.

The costumes are stand out like they are so good. Also the casting is incredible I am hopelessly in love with Winona Ryder.. whew.. it is just a wonderful and fun and genre subverting movie and a cult classic I adore it very much!! It is a social commentary but also just absolutely bonkers dumpster fire and it is fun to watch it all go down . I really really really hate jd like I wish nothing but the worst upon him . One of my least favorite characters of all time gosh gee.

I absolutely adore this movie it is such a classic in the teen movie genre wow<3 the casting is flawless I think and the writing is good too. It is very funny but also covers some important subject matter and it is fun to watch always. I have seen it god knows how many times it is just good old fashioned fun. Some of the humor did not age particularly well which is. Hmm but yes I like this movie a lot.

God there is just so much to say here. The soundtrack is such a knock out it is so beautiful Joe hisaishi is a marvelously talented composer! And the plot is stunning and important and epic but not too convoluted or cliched. The characters can be a little bland at times but WHO CARES the whole setting and dynamics are so incredibly fascinating and the moral grayness of the factory town is so engaging and cool and it is such timeless subject matter. Visually it is absolutely bonkers and blends history and fantasy/folklore seamlessly. The designs for everything are marvelous WOWOWOW <3 It is an INCREDIBLE epic take but also very emotional and really instills such indescribable emotions. My favorite character has got to be lady eboshi she is so interesting morally and also she is very hot lol. I absolutely adore this movie it has such an impact time and time again .

This movie is a little hard to understand the point of at first but when you get used to the rythm and start to grasp it's intentions it is wonderful!! I think the casting was good and it was quite funny! The visuals were absolutely wonderful and breathtaking and it's a style of movie that I think is completely unique, I've never seen another movie with this vibe or pacing. It can be a little slow at times, but is absolutely fun and feels like sinking into a cozy funny dream. The costuming and set design is flawless and the choreography and tap dancing is also wonderful. It is a little hard to place and I think with it's intentions and genre it is a bit of an enigma but that is what makes it so incredibly scrumptious and fun!!

I think this might be my least favorite lesbian movie I have ever seen sweet lord!! I know it's a bit of an uncommon opinion but I just really did not like it. I found the characters quite bland and unlikable and the pacing was odd and I didn't find it emotionally impactful at all. The sex scene was so weird I'm sorry😭 like it was just incredibly long and parts of it were so weird. I think this entire movie is incredibly too long as well to be honest I only made it like 2/3 of the way through I found it so incredibly boring and slow with no emotional development or character growth at the same time. I found it quite nothing burgery to be honest.

I mean this movie was nice it just was a little bland to me I guess? I never really connected with any of the characters or their relationships and I found Nadine unbearable which was kind of the point but yeah this movie is just ok I think. It is a fun coming of age movie and is quite emotional at times it just didn't deeply impact me personally!

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS MOVIE WOW. The casting is so delightful and very mid 2000s! Eliott page does an incredible job and so does everyone else and it is just so wonderful and emotional and sweet and funny. All the relationship dynamics are fun and interesting and this whole movie makes me sob hysterically. The soundtrack is one of my favorites of all time it is flawless and adorable and lovely. This is one of my favorite coming of age movies of all time hands down it is such a delight in every way a movie can be a delight. After covid I am going to watch it with my lovely friends at a sleepover and it shall be lovely <3.

I adore this movie a lot!! I think it isn't super emotionally impactful to be honest but the casting is delightful cate blanchett looked SO good whew... The settings are all lovely and I think it is actually a lot more poetic in execution than the book which is quite unusual for a movie. It is just sweet and fun to watch and obviously the blonde/brunette period piece lesbian movie especially with age gap/one of them married is a little bit of a tired trope but I adore this movie nonetheless!! This movie is visually stunning and the soundtrack is actually life changing my god. Vibe wise it is very beautiful but the actual plot is so gross and unbearable. A 17 year old and a 24 year old is not an acceptable power dynamic it is pedophilia and it is nasty. Elio is literally just being groomed the whole time it is very lousy. I think this movie has been hyped up way too much by straight women which is a whole icky dynamic in itself too.. also the peach scene is horrendous my god. Society if 1980s Italian countryside scenery in a gay movie wasn't basically claimed by this movie because it is such a wonderful setting and it would be a lot more wonderful if it was with a healthy relationship. Also the casting has not exactly aged well with the allegations against armie hammer .. lol.

I absolutely adore this movie I think it is one of my favorite teen coming of age movies. The characters are a delight and the casting is good except for Emma's horrendous American accent but it is forgivable because this movie is lovely!! It tackles a lot of heavy issues with sensitivity but is also just a fun time and quite thought provoking <3. I think it is weird how much romantic action a freshman is getting from seniors it is a little odd and uncomfy but otherwise this movie is absolutely wonderful!!!! The soundtrack too mwah!!

I have been meaning to rewatch it again but I absolutely cherish this movie it is such a treat!! It is fun and goofy and satirical but still very sincere and important all at once <3 the casting and writing is wonderful and the scenes in the conversion camp have the most stunning visuals this movie is such a wonderful and sweet time I adore everything about it. I don't think it is a PERFECT movie but it is delightful.

I do not remember a ton about this movie as I watched it in 8th grade but it is very sweet and lovely and a lot less fetishizy than some mlm anime tends to be. The animation is very lovely and the art style is unique and pretty too and I remember liking this movie quite a lot!!

The gender dynamics in this movie are so unbearable Jesus Christ above. At some point they're clearly like so bad to the point of irony but also I feel like the director was sexist too I just have a hunch. The main character was so incredibly unlikable I wanted to hit him the entire time. I love the wife though she is very lovely I wanted her to get out of there so bad. The cinematography is very very stunning however like it is a beautiful and imaginatively shot movie. But I wish nothing but the very worst to the main character. Whew god. This movie also felt very very long to be honest.

This movie is an absolute delight it is so much fun and it is refreshing to see a chubby gal be a genuine love interest and role model and be talented and famous in a movie setting and not just be the butt of the joke it is so lovely<3 it is weird how the main characters talk about black people and the subject matter whiplash is real for sure it is like woo party!! Just kidding police brutality against children! It is bonkers but this movie is so much fun and I adore a lot about it . I am in love with Debbie Harry but I thought her character was unnecessary WHAHSA. But the soundtrack is delightful and it is visually delightful and has WONDERFUL vibes.

I adore this movie it is one of the most soothing things in the world to me wow. The soundtrack is absolutely increidlbe and delightful and the filming locations are so fun and BEAUTIFUL and I love the casting and it is just the most fun lighthearted low stakes wonderful but still investing movie ever wow!!! It is a wonderful time and lovely to watch when I am sleeping over with the homies or when I am stressing . I love it so much wow . I do not think it is a MASTERPIECE but I adore it so.

I just felt out of nowhere compelled to give this movie a 10/10 because the more I sit with it the more I adore it. The ending and whole timeline is haunting and perfect for the fact that viewers do know the historical context. The costuming and choreography is absolutely INSANE and the musical numbers foreshadowing events is just MWAH!! Wow!! It is unusual that a movie of this era would have TWO bisexual men that are both perfectly lovely and protagonists. I think the entire problem with Sally and them could have been fixed with a poly relationship to be honest that would have been nice. But Joel grey as the emcee was one of the most bananas incredible castings ever good grief. It is fun and whimsical but also very real and very haunting and the combined early 30s and early 70s aesthetics are delicious. It is the perfect combo of fun and impending doom that you would expect out of late Weimar Berlin <3. I truly adore this movie I think I will watch it again soon the emotions are a bit indescribable with this one.

I go absolutely bonkers off the walls for this movie it is the pinnacle of youth and summertime and unforgettable experiences it is so pretty and good. Ifyou do not overanalyze the questionable but legal age difference it is fine lmao 😥🙏 . But the soundtrack is absolutely all star and the casting and writing is delicious and the set is very pretty and the ending makes me bawl and go absolutely berserk it is so lovely. I adore this movie and come back to it again and again <3.

The writing is very silly at times and obviously the gender dynamics are quite concerning but it is so fun and wonderful and just a very good time!! Like the emotions it induces are lovely and indescribable but it is just very goofy and I am incredibly biased towards it.
