Ruthless captivating entertainment
12 April 2023
Vetrimaran's cult of raw depiction continues, but the stage is 1980s, set inside a village surrounded by deep forests. Soori's love, empathy, fear are well enacted. Every character is well defined. The struggle of the protagonist to salvage the situation, taking brave steps, bearing the wounds is boundless. The cameraman stuck to the theme of the story in showing the difficulty of life in a forest and not the beauty of it. Dialogues are limited, but crisp and inline with the story. Songs are mesmerizing as expected from Raja. Finally, the audience can only feel surprised by the abrupt end. 'Cannot wait for the second part'.

Wonderful movie
24 July 2021
Story inspired by Black Town history, non stop screenplay. No non-sense romantic scenes, no fantasy songs. A pure sports movie from a specific region of North Chennai. This movie will be talked about a very long time. And, casting at its best, everyone had a powerful role to play. Dancing Rose, Daddy, Coach, wow.... what a nice entertainment.

Hilarious and some horror
10 July 2021
Good screenplay, known story, sense of humor makes this a good entertainment. The Monty character is some thing new. The camera man keeps the screen alive. Julia is cute.

For the people of India
13 April 2021
The power of a single vote cannot be explained better. The story is fictional but the screenplay keeps the screen moving. Yogi babu played the character like a pro. DMK and ADMK should stop luring people with freebies, this can't be explained any better.

Supernatural and science

The supernatural events are kind of scary, but later explained after investigation. A balance between faith and science. Good entertainment for those who keep an open mind.

Very slow

I've binged Narcos twice. The story is good, but the screenplay is not gripping.

Excellent story but average execution on the screen
28 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Episode by episode the story's mystery sunk deeper, the different keys with different powers, being discovered keeps the viewers immersed. But, suddenly ended the suspense if a few screens. The keys have hierarchical powers, the kids should have used the powers to tackle the evil, since the evil never had the main keys. Also, breaking the mystery in such quick pace doesn't do justice to the initial screenplay. Could have been better....

Social justice, a long journey for freedom
20 January 2020
Many in India don't understand social justice, Thandhai Periyar led the movement in Tamilnadu against all social injustices cited in this film. Blood boils when such attrocities against commoners are screened in this movie. Kudos to Vetrimaran and Dhanush for such a bold stint criticizing our dark past. Finally, the message that knowledge cannot be deprived off a person is the punch that brings goose bumps to fair hearted viewers. A million heart felt warm wishes for this film.

The narco war story telling with dramatized facts and footages is marvelous. Pena steals the show with his stoic nature, careful, planning, executing missions. I've watched the 3 seasons twice already.

Slap in the face
21 September 2019
Whenever we hear such incidents of discrimination, rape, casteist violence, the distance factor dilutes the gravity of the crime. But, distance has nothing to do with such crimes, they'll come to your door one day. Very powerful dialogues, it should prick the consciousness of the righteous and the rest.

Trend setter for good Tamil movies
4 November 2018
A good movie doesn't need a star cast. Story, screenplay, writing and characters are sufficient to project an excellent entertainer. The movie instills emotion in the heart of the viewers on the aspects on love, caste, discrimination of a society and politics. It's high time for Tamil cinema to relinquish itself of the mass hero boredom that swirls the south Indian cinema industry to eternal abyss and take this movie as a good example.

Good entertainment
31 July 2017
I started this series without any expectation. The first few episodes were tiring, with the usual zombie stuff. But after the 10th episode lot of characters unite to fight against the evil, and they all have a history especially I liked Mr. Satrakian's role on how he's connected with the plague for a long time. Later other characters add more color to the story and keep it gripping till the end of season 3.

Gorgeous, impeccable
26 January 2013
Long I had a wound, when there'll be a Tamil movie on par with Hollywood. Vishwaroopam lives to heal that wound. A perfect action, thriller experience right from the start. Filming in Afghan, US marines in choppers, RAW - M16 modus operandi, screenplay, action - all in one, brilliant film making. There was just one song at the start, then it was all action and thrill. Kamal impeccably played the Bharatanatiyam teacher role, with feminist moves, body language. The shame is that Tamilnadu Govt. has banned this movie, our own people are pulling him down when he attempts to scales skies. The narrow minded section of the Indian society cannot digest the truth, they are sleeping in a deep well where there's no light. Shame, shame people, shame on you protesters.

A good movie for Vijay and Murugadoss
21 November 2012
The story line is 9/10, dialogues 7/10, screenplay, 8/10, stunt 7/10. Romance 5/10, songs 4/10. A very good movie but the romantic scenes and songs spoiled the thrill in the movie. But, I can understand the mass expectation, without these scenes, we cannot expect crowd in the theaters.

A positive step for Vijay that he came out of the obsolete rhythm that he did in the past 10 years.

Murugadoss is printing his name as a director who thinks out of the box.

Sathyan had a good role, but he is a better actor that what can be seen in this movie.

Atypical Pirate movie
25 May 2011
The production crew has tried to live to the expectations of the Pirate fans, but in my view the attempt is in vain. This movie becomes darker with 3D glasses, I miss the splendorous view of the blue lit ocean and green islands here and there. The story lacks the Pirate kick barely involving Jack Sparrow as the lead artist. I miss the crew, the one eyed guy and his mate, lack of the usual wit in dialogs. The sea mermaids were making the story too much of a fantasy story rather than a Pirate action movie. What's the point in selecting Penelope Cruz with so little role tagged to her, any artist could have played her role and put the hype to rest. Anyhow, it a good entertainer, but as a fan of Pirate I feel a little disappointed.

Unimpressive story
4 February 2007
The story is like tangents to a circle, portraying so many characters and events that did not cater to a common point. Characters weren't given importance, who don't even touch the viewer's mind with their actions. A little insight in to the background for the battle would have a bit useful. The screenplay should have been a bit faster. I think the importance of the battle could have be conveyed in a better way. I have enjoyed so many war movies like Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Wind Talkers, but not this movie. Not a typical Clint Eastwood stuff.

Best intentions, Sudherson V
