Disturbing and Gross, in all the right ways
23 March 2024
Right off the bat, I have to say... Best part about this movie is there's a precious dog in the film, and it does not die. (I was so worried the entire time.) The dog is witness to a handful of awful things but the little dude escapes unharmed. Lol

This movie made my stomach turn, but I adored it. There aren't many serial killer movies done quite this well, I felt like I needed a shower after the movie ended. It felt so realistic! Everything from the cinematography to the casting to the camera angles and to the sets felt purposeful to just create a super uneasy atmosphere.

I watched this by complete chance and I am glad I did. It feels pretty one of a kind.

Mandy (I) (2018)

There's a d*ck in it... so, automatically I am a fan.

There's not enough full frontal male nudity in horror films, if you ask me. So, you know I became an instant fan when they took it there. The guy isn't even someone I'd ever want to see naked, but that is irrelevant.

In addition to that, it's beautiful to look at. I wasn't surprised at all to see that it's the same filmmaker who did Beyond the Black Rainbow. Similarly, Mandy has a great score and has insanely fun lighting and editing.

There's minimal dialogue, but I love me a revenge movie, so I was okay with just being along for the ride on this one. The gore and fight scenes are super fun and from start to finish the movie is entertaining. And that's what we're ultimately here for, right?

I also have to say that I am a big anti fan of Nicholas Cage. (It's not his fault, exactly, but he just makes my skin crawl.) And even so! I liked this one. =)

A 2 Hour Music Video of Kirsten Dunst in Great Costumes
30 August 2021
A great cast with incredible wardrobe and makeup. Unfortunately, it lacks any plot and storyline, and focuses far too much on the repetitive nature of the start of Louis XVI & Marie's failed romance attempts. Essentially, that's the entire first hour of the film. (Going to bed, no sex tonight, breakfast, go to bed, no sex tonight, breakfast, and repeat... For an hour.)

The rest of the film are very stylized glimpses into Marie Antoinette's lavish and extravagant outfits and socializing sessions with her friends, none of which have much dialogue, with various shots of Kirsten Dunst draping herself over couches and beds giggling to a modern 80's punk soundtrack.

The story focuses so much on the parts mentioned above, that it completely leaves out any actual storyline, which should have been the French Revolution and Marie Antoinette's part on it.

When the story finally starts to get interesting, the movie stops short and ends! I couldn't believe it. I was shocked that in this 2 hours, we did not get to see the end of Louis and Marie's story, which is undoubtedly some of the most interesting parts of the story.

It felt like a complete waste of time. =(

I Care a Lot (2020)

Just, no.
26 July 2021
I get the whole trying to create an anti-hero thing, but our main characters are simply the most vile and horrible people ever. I was sincerely hoping both of them would die brutally, or at least fail miserably, the entire time! But, I guess we're supposed to be rooting for them? I don't see how anyone could. I think this movie missed the mark.

Additionally, its is a solid 30 minutes too long.

I recommend spending your time more wisely- I've seen better film on teeth.
