Decent action
13 August 2022
Not exactly funny but this movie does have some decent action. Dave Franco's character is pointless and his bits get really old really quick. This whole movie is fan service.

Long
13 August 2022
This was educational and I am a fan of the band but this should have been about 30 minutes shorter. I did like the interviews but a lot of the content seemed redundant.

Nice curve balls
13 August 2022
My palms were sweaty even after the movie was over. This movie was very predictable and you get what you expect just from the trailer. But this is still a terrifying fun film. There are a couple of curve balls thrown at you that I really appreciated. Very fun to watch!

Stranger Things meets Silence of the Lambs
8 July 2022
Tremendous performance by Ethan Hawke. The child actors in this film are equally as amazing. You find yourself developing relationships very quickly with the majority of the cast. Ethan Hawke delivers a haunting performance similar to a Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. This is a must see of 2022.

Stunning and unsettling all at once
17 June 2022
Visually this film is amazing. The style and craftsmanship is impeccable. I am so impressed with Phil Tippett's ability to express the physical weight of his characters. When you watch the first assassin walking across this wasteland, you get an accurate sense of his weight making an impact in the soil with each step. In real life this small model of a puppet that weighs less than a pound is made to feel like it weighs several hundred with each step. So realistic! Yes, there is no dialogue. It is not necessary. There is a plot and it is expressed through metaphor after metaphor. This movie is though provoking and also shocking. The visuals are so upsetting and amazing. The attention to detail in the environment is second to none. This is a grotesque masterpiece.

Spectacular

Absolutely spectacular. This makes French extreme look like Mister Roger's Neighborhood. Just when I think I've seen the craziest concept in this film they pull out something that is totally bananas. So much gore. So much violence. Just tremendous.

Nice twist
28 April 2022
I like the new twist on an old zombie theme. Very creative. Nice character development. Good action. Nice special effects. The main girl had a nice story arc.

The code and the plot are basic
23 April 2022
Growing up programming in basic I was hoping this would bring back some fond memories. Delete that idea. I don't know where they got some of their technical consulting but it was off the mark. This movie is certainly not for my generation. I didn't care for the main Lola Evans's character at all. Simply not a strong performance. I like Asa Butterfield and can't help but wonder why he played a back seat in this film. The story line is very thin and the graphics and effects are pretty bad.

What happened to Titanic 2?
23 April 2022
Good for TUBI for creating original content. Too bad it was simply boring. I had no connection with any of the main characters. I struggled to find anyone likable in the entire cast. The "kills" are mostly sloppy computer graphics and the plot is extremely predictable. My only question is that if this movie takes place aboard the Titanic III, what happened to Titanic II?

I tension
26 March 2022
This movie takes way too long to spark at all. And I say spark for a reason. There are no good kills in this film at all. This should have been rated PG if it weren't for the sex. The old age makeup was pretty bad and I am guessing that's why those characters were shot mostly in the dark. This was a big yawn fest for me.

It's hard to root for a Nazi
17 March 2022
I Realize this movie is only 95 minutes long but it seemed much much longer than that. The story seems so disjointed, and I really didn't get much time to care about any of the main characters. This setting for these LARPers is supposed to be haunted but the film isn't the least bit scary. The jump scares are lame, and my biggest problem is that these people are all willingly playing NAZI's in the LARP. I might not understand the whole LARPing community, but I know a bad movie when I see one.

This seed never grew
12 March 2022
I never cared for the characters, the storyline was slow and predictable, and the alien looked like a reject puppet from the 1991 sitcom Dinosaurs. I realize it is only 91 Minutes long but don't bother wasting your time. The only thing this sees can grow is boredom.

A great recipe
11 March 2022
What a great combination of comedy, romance, and horror! Sebastian Stan is an excellent and believable heartthrob villain. This reminds me of American Psycho. Plenty of shock, plenty of plot twists and enough gore to make sure you don't leave hungry. This film was a delicacy!

Like a made for tv movie
28 February 2022
This was not a bad film. Fairly suspenseful with a nice little twist. Acting was good decent writing. I would have liked a few more tense moments. With the entire movie being set in a visitors center I was hoping for more of a feeling of clostrophobia.

Not enough story
27 February 2022
This is a very ambitious and well done movie however I felt the story was lacking. The cinematography was excellent. Some of the early color pallets in the film are striking. However the acting and story line seemed choppy and incoherent. Just couldn't get into it.

Fun. Just like it should be!
19 February 2022
I will admit that this movie is about as original as a cover band but I had a lot of fun watching it and that's how a movie should make you feel. The writing and story line was decent and the acting is what you would expect. The kills were exceptional. I was a giddy as a school girl during the bus scene. Not just for the way Leatherface killed his victims but for who they were. There were certainly nods to Lori Strode and The original Friday the 13th as was as the Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre but those things simply made me smile in amusement.

It's a fun film. Go watch it!

Great metaphor okay film
13 February 2022
Great anti bullying message. There should be more movies that use this concept as their base. Not much of a story let alone a story arc. No one has really grown throughout the film. It is very forgettable. Seems like Harry and the Hendersons had more substance.

Worst writing of 2022So far
13 February 2022
I had high hopes for this movie because the opening scene had some merit. Like we walked into the final scene of a decent horror movie already in progress but after the first 10 minutes everything goes downhill and fast. The teen dialogue is just a string of catch phrases like "Yolo" and "Girl Power" and the parents dialogue is even worse. The parents dismiss every word out of their children's mouths. The cops are atHE WORST! I almost turned this movie off about 4 times but I'm no quitter.

Hauntingly Addictive
17 January 2022
What happens when you combine Lost and American Horror Story and Stranger Things and The Shining? A hauntingly addictive series called Archive 81. Mamoudou Athie is excellent as Dan Turner and compliments Dina Shihabi, Melody Pendras, very well. The mystery they have spun is exceptionally crafted and always ends with a reason to "go ahead and watch one more episode". I typically don't watch found footage movies, but Archive 81 has use the found footage aspect more as a portal to take the viewer from present time to the past.

Very captivating and very well done.

still great family fun
16 January 2022
Despite this franchise continuing to lose original cast members like CeeLo Green, and most recently, Adam Sandler and Kevin James, this franchise still churns out family fun. All theses monsters (and humans) still teach with a good moral compass by conveying it is never okay to lie and to always find the good in everyone.

The animation continues to be fun and colorful, while the writing has excellent comedic timing mixed with great "physical' humor.

I am glad that this franchise continues to produce movies to entertain younger generations and families alike.

More Blood, but major problem with physics
16 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When this movie started, I did what most people do, which is try to figure out who the killer is. Not to be pedantic, but I have a problem with the physics of it all. When I see a character that is 98 years old, or morbidly obese, I rule them out because they physically can't perform the duties of Ghost Face. I also rule out actors who are under 5 feet tall especially when in most scenes the killer is towering over his victims at around 6 (plus) feet tall.

That being said I would have been happier had they introduced Sam's mom as the killer. She has more than enough motive.

I was happy they brought back the Beretta 92fs from the original film. I was also very impressed with the increase in blood and the close up effects!

a good start
28 September 2021
I found the storyline difficult to follow at times. The director makes some very good choices as far as establishing mood. The Scene with the cult members coming to claim their prize is very well done. However, I am not a big fan of a film where you can defeat evil simply by believing, and being a good person who loves your family. Did Kirk Cameron write this?

33 violins
28 September 2021
Mood music, ambiance, and jump scares. If that is what scares you then you must see Insidious. They used 33 violins to create the mood music and ambiance for this thriller. The cast of this film is outstanding. Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne make very believable parents and I was thrilled to see Barbara Hershey back in the horror game as well. Lin Shaye is planting a firm foothold in her place in horror history as well. This film is the best evolution of haunted house films because it goes beyond the physical confines of the house. Can't wait to see the rest of these films.

Seemed like a pretty simple job
28 September 2021
Watching a dead body for a few hours. What could possibly go wrong? Not much, unless of course the body is haunted by an entity that is looking for some new person to torment to death. This film does an effective job of making the viewer feel claustrophobic in this small Brooklyn house. Throughout the film there are deep dives into the Hasidic faith that bring up some truly terrorizing folklore. Just remember to look behind you while watching this film.

a true dreamcast
28 September 2021
Take James Brolin, Margot Kidder and Rod Steiger and put them all in a haunted house. What do you get? A Horror masterpiece. This classic haunted house storyline will not disappoint anyone but the family living in it. James Brolin is fantastic in portraying his mental decay throughout the film. Rod Steiger was moving in his portrayal of Father Delaney. The special effects in this film are not ground breaking by any means, but they are simply not necessary with a storyline like this. A Must watch.
