The Expendables (2010)
Academy Awards FOR SURE
This movie is so good, it's like watching Rambo I, II, and III all at the same time on 3 TV sets while listening to any Iron Maiden and Metallica albums (any, b/c they all sound about the same) blasting on 2 stereos in order to make the dialog from this movie more intelligible. Dialogue? Who the 'F needs dialog when you have such prominent method actors like Stallone & Dolf Lungdren. I don't even know WTF method acting means anyway, it just sounds smart.
For the sequel, they should bring in Steven Segal to raise the level of acting up by a few notches. But definitely keep Jet Li...I love trying to figure out WTF foreign actors are saying in English...it just makes the whole cinematic experience so much more enjoyable. And hiring epileptics to do the camera work in trendy action flicks have got to stop. PLEASE. Trying to figure out what language Stallone is speaking is already giving me enough of a headache.
Glad to see Randy Coutoure getting a nice gig though.
Graduation (2007)
Annoying teenage movie flop
You can tell that this movie is going to be annoying right from the beginning. Not much buildup to make the viewers care about any of the characters. Do teenage kids really put their lives and future on the line to help out one of their friends' parent who's in dire need? Maybe. But this movie is very unconvincing of this notion.
What I can't stand is over acting and meaningless distractions that are meant to be funny. It's just annoying and questions any hint of realism. The part that did it for me was when the wannabe good actor with green hair gets distracted by a cute bank teller rather than deliver a crucial item of their plan. Blah. I turned it off. No need to watch further.
And I did enjoy movies like Sugar & Spice, Bring It on and even Stick It. All off the wall teenage movies that are charming and funny. This movie, Graduation, is a total mess, lacking in neither of these qualities.
Halloween (2007)
B-Movie Nothing More
Wow, Rob Zombie is really a bad director. How many more tries does this guy need? The movie starts out kind of interesting with the childhood of Michael Myers but the acting is just terrible. Can anybody act in this movie at all? The only real actor is Malcolm McDowell and he seemed kind of off. Which means that's there's no one else to blame except the director because Malcolm McDowell is a top notch actor. The movie is just littered with cut rate actors who's just a couple of steps above porn stars. They're all Ginger Lynns. They can be in a thousands films but still can't figure out how to act. Zombie even puts his daughter in the movie. Goodness, she stinks. What the hell is this? A high school play? And there's no explanation as to how Michael Myers all of the sudden gained supernatural strength almost. Unlike Jason who turns out to be supernatural, the story follows him through his early years inside a mental institution. The overall sloppiness is just annoying. Rob Zombie is such an idiot who will always be a B-Movie director. Maybe Zombie should just step up to grade A porn...you know, the kind with a story and a set that's not a hotel room.
