Credits mistake
30 August 2021
As Johnny Harris wrote most of the music for this series, i assumed he also wrote the theme music due to his closeness with Lynda. O think in the end i'm wrong and his theme music credit is not correct.

Doctor Who: The Woman Who Fell to Earth (2018)
Season 11, Episode 1
6/10
The virtuous Dr. Who era is here.
7 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I ignored the fact it's a woman and gave it a 6. All the horror seemed to be sucked out of it and the only Whittaker line that annoyed me was "You had no right" to kill an alien who was trying to kill you. :-) The virtuous Dr. Who era is here. Who do i hate most after 1 episode Moffat/Chibnall = Moffat.

Dreary, slow, childish for 12yo's
19 October 2017
Dreary, slow, childish for 12yo's with bad acting (Thewlis, Bremner ) or no acting (Gadot, Pine) from both leads who have zero chemistry and weigh the film down with their non-event romantic sub-plot. The action is PG style with no sense of danger or horror in the WW1 trenches, the danger is provided by the main villain Thewlis who looks embarrassed to be starring in such drivel. The costumes are nice, the rest is soulless comic book garbage for Millennials with Game Of Thrones IQ's.

Dullsville
28 August 2016
The slowest most boring chase movie i've ever seen with zero suspense, drama or action with a story line that makes little sense about a little boy from somewhere special running from nasty government heavies. The actors gave it the only quality it has though the constant frowning and/or looks of wonderment could have been phoned in after day one. Though i don't know why they bothered to turn up at all with this banal mindless piece of crap. I give it a 5 cause i like Kirsten Dunst though she had little to do in this script. Otherwise it would be a 3. :-) z z z z z Do yourself a favour if you wanna watch a cool sci-fi film about a mysterious child then watch: Flight Of The Navigator.

Total Garbage made for IDIOTS to enjoy.
10 January 2015
Guardians of The Galaxy has a great 70's soundtrack (which is recommended to be listened to on your Walkman while on your own adventures rather than as the score to this latest piece of Hollywood Marvel trash) but that doesn't make up for a crap film, with a pathetic childish storyline, BS joke acting and zero suspense. Worse than that - it wasted Karen Gillan who is one of the hottest sci-fi girls on the planet and can act a whole better than the dumb talentless Yanks she has the misfortune to share her pathetic amount of screen time with. Besides Karen (who is always fun) the only character in this piece of juvenile junk with any charisma is a wooden tree voiced by Vin Diesel. THE REST IS A TOTAL GARBAGE FILM FOR THE UNDER 5's or IDIOTS TO ENJOY.

Repo The Nothing Generation
7 April 2012
Alex Cox pastiche on the zero digital decade where the only values worth pursing are money, celebrity and cutting edge technology. He films this entirely on green screen to show the banal crowd pleasing depths that modern cinema has fallen into in the nothing noughties. Next up is Repo 3-D starring a busty 33DD babe fighting the PC Thought Police Force who want to repo the wearing of bra's as they are demeaning to 21st Century Woman. He will film this masterpiece on his state-of-the-art camera cell phone with a budget courtesy of the **** network who will only ask that 50% of the running time will be used up with close-up shots of their current hot must-have smartphone packages to please the Androids at the multi-plex.

Confusing
15 March 2012
The plot jumps all over the place and makes it a confusing watch, trying to figure out how, what, who and why this scene is happening is a struggle. Shame as the cast, photography and score are all first class. Walter Hill's script (8/10) deserved a more experienced director who is great with the cast but cannot make a coherent story. The direction and editing are a master class in how not to make a film. If your a fan of seventies film noir then there is much to still enjoy, i liked Robert Culp's scene in the strip joint where is hangdog face works a treat. And it's always fun watching actors when they are pretty young - James Woods and Michael Moriarty look younger than the socks i'm wearing.

Just ****** awful in every way
4 November 2011
Bruce Willis vanity garbage that stinks from start to finish. Only Brucie is allowed to be "heroic" and the story makes no sense what so ever, more holes than Bruce's hair count! The acting sucks from everyone, the direction sucks, the story sucks....not 1 idea is even worth repeating. How low the Brucie has fallen since Die Hard. Shame and a total waste of two hours. This film had a BIG budget and you will shake your head at this prime example of the mindless junk America now produce - "it's a cop action film with Bruce Willis" is the only thing that matters in Moneytown. Avoid if you can. I wish i had last night but at least i got to see a decent British film on Film4 beforehand - watch The Last King Of Scotland or pretty much anything else instead.

Just seen on BBC1 for the first time this evening and very glad i did stay up late being a massive Polanski urban paranoid thriller fan which is an undoubted influence here. Not a foot wrong in this at all - cast, script, photography, direction, atmosphere all 10/10. What a great great film. I guess i need to watch the Japanese original now but have a feeling i'll prefer this as it won't have Ariel Gade 10, Dougray Scott 8 (sorry were not meant to like you and your part was the least rounded being just the "nasty" ex-husband), Jennifer Connelly 10, John C. Reilly 10, Pete Postlethwaite 10, Tim Roth 10. In fact i like to give them all 10+.

BBC Show of the Week: Up Tight! Johnny Harris (1968)
Season Unknown, Episode Unknown
10/10
JH is Showman Of The Week
9 May 2011
I'd love to review this. Sadly, the BBC is run by utter idiots. Who wanted to save a few pennies for their excessive expense claims for themselves and their chums. So the BBC library destroyed the tapes! Shame on them. Forever!! Oh, well. I can look at the Radio Times. And dream. That it's still really the afternoon of December 1st, 1968. Otherwise, i will be feeling very up tight! We shall all miss this Johnny Harris Special featuring guest stars Lulu, Georgie Fame, Una Stubbs and the Douglas Squires Dancers. Not jazz exactly or straight pop. Just a powerful mixture that can bring an audience to its feet from Johnny Harris, one of the country's most brilliant young arranger-conductors, who presents for the first time his own television band show, together with some of the artists who have appeared with him on record.

Superb music score
30 December 2006
British cult classic with a memorable music score by Johnny Harris featuring a small tight group of top class jazz players including Harold McNair on screaming flute. Re-recorded cuts from this soundtrack feature on the 1970 Johnny Harris - Movements album (issued on CD by Warner Bros in 2002) which is highly recommended. Including flute and bongo driven main theme "Stepping Stones" (named after the secret society in the film) which has developed a life of it's own - used by Levi Jeans on it's Kung Fu TV ad in 1997, featured on film soundtracks, used by the BBC as the theme to a season of seventies cult film and played in clubs by DJ's to jazz, funk and northern soul crowds for four decades! P.S. This film is now on DVD from Columbia in the US and will soon be on blu-ray. P.P.S Now if only Sony Film Music can see sense and release the TRULY AMAZING score on CD for the first time ever please, good news: There is now a 12" LP release available. P.P.P.S. The reviews criticising the music written by chrisdfilm and a few other fools are total bs, ignore that garbage!!
