Line of Duty (2019)
The script must've been written by a 9 year old ...
This must have been one of the most ridiculous action movies I've ever seen. The story, the dialogues, the action scenes are so beyond reality! ... and where did all those guys get their superpowers from? The ones who survive seem to be indestructible, super strong and they also have the power of being extremely unfunny and annoying.
So despite a whole bunch of well known actors this turns out to be a real trash movie, so bad that it's funny again.
Stowaway (2021)
A very original and well made Sci-Fi movie
I've seen tons of Sci-Fi movies but this one really surprised me. There were lots of concepts I had never seen before that way and everything was shown in a very scientific and realistic way.
In other movies they have artificial gravitation just like that and we're supposed to believe that it works, but mostly we're given no explanation. Here the spaceship is just amazing. The Mars cycler is constantly spinning (so that on both ends there's gravity and none in the middle) and it almost needs no fuel at all to keep traveling between Earth and Mars - hence no way of turning back or changing the course drastically.
Here they also thought of another real problem for astronauts traveling through space: sun flares. And they show you that special shelter they have in order to protect the crew.
When the sun flares occur you can see something like an aurora around the spaceship. Some people criticized this as unrealistic but space is not completely empty. It's filled with all kinds of particles, elements and gases that could be ionized by the flare.
One other thing I have to mention is the crew: This might be the only movie in a long, long time where there's no psychopath or totally unprofessional idiot among the crew. Even the "stowaway" seems to be a decent human being. So thanks for that and for this unconventional ending, too!
The Irishman (2019)
Old men playing young men ...
Wow, those parts in the first third of the movie were almost unwatchable. The CGI looked so bad that I thought they were wearing masks of Spitting Image. And even if the CGI would have been perfect: The guys don't move like young men, they walk and fight like 70-year-olds ... - pretty ridiculous!
They should have taken younger actors for those parts or considering that this movie is 3 1/2 hours long they could have cut lots of it out.
The rest of the movie wasn't that thrilling either. It was nice to see this version of Hoffa's disappearance but there were no real surprises, no memorable scenes - an incredible waste of time and money.
Occupant (2011)
Nice try
OK, I'm gonna write this short: This movie has some really nice shots, in the beginning it creates an interesting, little weird story, the acting is pretty nice ... BUT there are so many plot holes, so many stuff that happens without any reason, just for the effect and there's no horror at all. This movie is just a concept ... looks like they ran out of money and had to end it somehow. This is sad, because it really had a decent start and could have been a remarkable film. This way there is no comparison to any Polanski movie.
Usually it's nice to watch a movie and in the end be left with a few questions to talk about and to discuss ... but here it's just too much. Why all this?
