Pieces of April (2003)
Sadly disappointed
I was sadly disappointed with this movie. It wasn't a comedy, or even a drama really. It was "April" trying to make Thanksgiving dinner and the problems she encounters. This movie was basically the LONGEST hour and 20 minutes of my entire life.
Beware this movie unless you really want to waste your money on it. Even with all the big name actors/actress it was done rather poorly. Shaky camera, BAD acting and a lot more things I'd rather not get into made this the worst experience in my life. If it had lasted any longer than that hour 20 minutes, I'd have stopped it right then and returned it never to pick it up again.
Bringing Down the House (2003)
Funniest movie I've seen so far this year
This has to be THE funniest movie I've seen all year. Queen Latifah is a big beautiful black woman and the perfect actor for this role. Steve Martin is also great with his "wigger" scenes and as a man who has been duped in online dating. Who else could have played such a great role? Nobody!
This movie may lack a few things but what it lacks is definately made up for in comedic releif. If you have a dry sense of humor or aren't funny in the least, you won't like this movie. But for those who do know comedy when they see it will definately laugh. I've a sore throat from laughing so hard after just watching this movie 20 minutes ago. I give this movie 2 thumbs up!
Ghost Dog: A Detective Tail (2003)
Funny? I think not!
I was duped into thinking that this was an actual movie. Had I known it was a tv-movie I would have spent the $2.50 rental fee elsewhere. The jacket of the movie made it look like it'd be funny...but I was WRONG! I didn't even laugh once during the entire flick and I'm a person who laughs during a funny movie, even if its as stupid as watching Wiley E. Coyote blowing himself up!
Others may say this is a good family movie, but I wouldn't even let my own kids watch this movie!
Solaris (2002)
This movie sucks!
This is the first George Clooney movie that I'm very disappointed in. I've got the book but never read it, and after watching this movie I'm glad I never did! This movie is filled with flashbacks between Kelvin and Rheya that does nothing more than fill up time. Dead wife comes back again to haunt him?? I mean, what is the point here?!
How High (2001)
HILARIOUS!
I seen this movie this weekend and I about died laughing! Method Man and Redman are histarical together. Half-Baked doesn't even compare to this movie...Actually I can't think of any movie that can! I suggest this movie to anyone looking for a good laugh!
Psycho (1998)
POLITICALLY INCORRECT!!!
This movie is politically incorrect. Anyone who has ever watched any of the other 4 original Psycho movies starring Anthony Perkins, knows that NORMAN BATES DOES NOT MASTURBATE!!! His mother taught him it was not right for a boy to get erections, especially not over his own mother, (which isn't right anyway, but hey.)
So, for Norman's actions, he was placed in a dress. So from then on, Norman wore a dress when he felt the "urge." Which is why he puts on the dress when he kills the woman in the shower, not only to act as his mother, but because the dress is the way he releases the "urge."
I believe the only reason they added the masturbation part is to appeal to today's generation. Every movie in one way or another has a sex scene. Anyone who's ever seen the original knows...Norman knows no sexual relations, whether it be with himself or with a parter. If you want to see the Politically CORRECT version, and the one that scared so many people back in the day, watch the one in Black and White.
The Whispering (1995)
This movie is disappointing!
I recently rented this movie, figuring it would be cool, but what do i get???? JUNK! The classification of this movie as being "HORROR" and/or "THRILLER" is absolutely laughable! One expects "horror" to be blood and/or guts gushing out on-screen, but the only real "blood" is from what appeared to be a dead animal? But, even that is just a split second of viewing, to leave it rather questionable, as to if it was just a paint can.
Now, on to the "thriller" part......well, this is laughable too. I was on the edge of my seat, just waiting for the movie to end! There isn't anything to get all excited over in this movie, besides waiting for it to end.
Save your money, and rent a good movie, like........Hellraiser movies. Now, those are horror movies!
Troll 2 (1990)
The WORST movie I've seen to date!
In all my years of watching movies, Troll 2 is the very *worst* movie I've ever seen! The acting is like something out of a independent film, where there is no "character", just someone acting. Although this movie had its funny parts,(few and far in between)it still the dumbest movie.
This movie was so horrible, and cheap that they can't even get decent masks for the trolls. One is actually cross-eyed which I found hilarious! Other than that, I don't recommend this movie.
This part might be considered a bit of a spoiler, but hey, you need to know what your getting into!
The "trolls" or goblins turn humans into a green pile of goo, upon which they feast on. Go figure. Well, a boy is all alone against the goblins, which he can see as their "true" form, while the parents just see them as friendly townspeople. Well, I'm not going to reveal the rest of the movie, although its pretty much a dead giveaway.
