Lord of the Flies (1963)
Read it, then watch it.
Alone on an island somewhere in the Pacific ocean a group of British schoolboys put up the struggle of their lives in order to survive, after crashing (being shot down) their airplane.
The passenger tube, leaving a scar on the island, may represent the sin fall or the beginning of destruction on the island.
Two boys, Ralph and Piggy, manages to call an assembly where they decide to elect Ralph as leader. Ralph who is a good looking and fair haired boy, representing democracy and reason, takes the responsibility and make up some basic rules that the group has to follow. The rest is up to you to discover, but is the human being natural evil or is it natural good? that is the question you have to ask yourself before reading or watching. Do you believe in mankind?
Requiem for a Dream (2006)
A requiem for what?
I have just finished watching this movie and I have to say that it did not fascinate me enough to make me see it "all in one", I had to divide it into three parts. This movie is not a great movie, but it is a movie that challenges todays social problems on different levels. The movie in itself is both disgustingly harsh with some strong scenes and pleasant and enjoying from time to time. If you are looking for a good laugh, do not watch this movie, but if you on the other hand is in the mood for a strong and meaningful movie with a strong message this is a movie to recommend. I have given it 6/10, not bad, but not that good either.
