The test of time.
15 January 2024
Don't get me wrong, the movie was nice. But, the whole way through, all I could think was will I pull this out at least once a year and watch it for the next 50 years? Probably not.

Everything about the movie was well done, just not overly memorable. Even the music, on the way home from the theater noting really stuck with me, other than the throw back pieces from the original movie.

There were elements of the original as well as the remake, but just not the memorable type from either. The singing was better than the original, but it's an actual musical, not just a movie with musical pieces.

Don't get me wrong, it was nice, just not great.

Just falls flat.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if it's delivery, or what the issue is. I like Chris Rock as an actor, but just can't get on board with the stand up.

The whole premise of the program, "selective outrage", starts off well, but then he just goes from topic to topic trying to dive in, but eventually following the regular line.

He goes over the top trying to offend everyone after just caving in to everyone. Doesn't really seem to hold the live audience that well, they're in and out as the thing goes on.

The real underlying problem is most likely me wanting to compare Chris Rock to Dave Chappel. I know that isn't fair, but life isn't fair and Chris is no Dave.

Good solid watch.
14 November 2022
Not winning any awards, but it's a good streaming direct, night at home watch. As the others chime in, Stalone is good at playing the old tired dude. He looks like I feel most days.

I don't have any knowledge of the story line if there is one out there, so I found it interesting. I had an idea about half way through where things were going, but it still held my interest anyway.

The rest of the cast seemed to fill their roles just fine. Some good new talent, and a few I've seen before. I think there might be enough story left to have another installment. If any decision makers are reading this, I'd watch it.

How so invested in such a short series?
12 October 2022
I have a friends in Northern Ireland and have visited Derry. I spent enough time with them that I have a pretty good handle on the events, their timing, and impact. All that aside I just felt involved with the characters and their direction.

I was happy to see a wrap up episode instead of just ending a series that was already too short. It gave us an ending and still gave us the open feeling that someday more might come.

Knowing this was a local production (really Netflix "original") I really want to see more of local Irish television, these actors, writers, and producers. High hopes there is more of this line of comedy out there.

Just couldn't get involved.

I can't really explain it, I love all the cast, it just fell extremely flat. I was unable to get invested in any character or any part of the story. The opening sort of caught my attention, and it just faded away to nothing.

Not sure what it is, or who it's for.
21 July 2022
I'm a fan of even the worst of the Resident Evil series. There is a vague connection of characters and some start of a story, but it's slow. I can't quite catch the target crowd either. I'm really trying to like this, but it's difficult.

So Underrated
11 June 2022
I was 14 when this movie came out and loved it then. I have to admit it's a product of it's time, but it's funny. Doesn't hurt that it's chucked full of cast from all my other favorite movies.

Not Marley and Me?
27 March 2022
I read another interview that said the audience wouldn't be leaving in tears like they did in Marley and Me. That's unless you fall into a couple categories. As a former dog handler I was in tears before the opening credits were done.

Having been in the military, and the civilian contractor business that the main character is trying to get into, there are a bunch of tugs there. Is a bunch of that flawed? Yes, but the message still clearly came through.

Not sure you can call this one a comedy, but its a must see for dog people and veterans.

Still Funny
14 January 2022
So I just finished up with Down Periscope, so I'm off to the other Navy comedy. I have no idea why this is rated so low.

It's silly, but it's a comedy and is supposed to be. I can watch this one every so often and it's still funny. Relax a little bit and laugh, it's not real.

Still Funny
14 January 2022
I just watched this again (for the I don't know how many times). It's one of those go to when I just need something silly that I don't have to over evaluate.

I read through a listing looking for some information and read through some of the initial reviews and ratings from other sites.

Academy Award winner, no. Still, it's funny.

Corny/Sappy
29 December 2021
Operation Christmas Drop is silly, corny, and sappy. Once you get into the story line you probably already know how it's going to end. It's a good little story with lots of scenery, so watch it anyway, it's Christmas.

Politics over the top.
26 November 2021
I know the show always attempts to follow what's going on in the country, but I get it already, cops are bad and white people are the problem. Oh, and make sure we stay on the COVID issues as well.

It's for the game players.
26 November 2021
This was definitely for the players of Resident Evil 1 and 2. I just don't think anyone outside of that group will have any appreciation for it (I know my wife didn't). It just might be 20 years late.

Good tank movie.
27 December 2019
Caught this on Amazon, recently watched the series Tank, where they talk up the T-34, so this was interesting. I almost would have rather seen the original Russian with English sub titles. I think it would be a little less goofy without the English voice over.

Just watch it.

Helps that I have Irish friends and have visited several times, but I think Americans just like to listen to the Irish swear. Either way it's just funny, give it a try.
