All of Us Strangers (2023)
A film I could not wait for and that now I can't get out of my head
From the opening scene, involving Adam navigating his monotonous and lonely life, I could tell that I knew I would love this movie just for its characters alone. I relate to Adam in lots of ways and his arc throughout the film moved me to tears on multiple occasions.
I'm very thankful for Andrew Haigh and his direction. In All of Us Strangers and his previous works he employs very simple yet beautiful camera placement that makes it so easy to gaze in awe of it.
As for the story, I also loved every minute of it. I've already expressed my love for the quietness and melancholy of the opening scene, so I'll move on. When we finally meet Adam's parents it's very disorienting how well Adam plays along. He immediately accepts it and from that you can put together just how much he's been missing them and I thought that was sweet. Once his cycle of life has been punctured he tries his luck with Harry and it goes well. I found Their dialogue to be very true to the queer, or gay, experience. What I love most about Harry and Adam is that they feel like Authentic gay men that aren't trying to make a statement or that feel too one-dimensional. Which again I thank Andrew Haigh and Andrew Scott for bringing in their own experiences as gay men to further authenticate these characters. Paul Mescal plays gay very well. His and Andrew Scott's chemistry feels too good to be true I wish they would actually date. Anyway... As soon as we fell into the cycle of; during the day, Adam'll see his parents and during the night, Adam will be with Harry- I was a little concerned for what was left of the story but then we get this adorable transition of Adam and Harry going to a club. And what starts out very cute and fun, switches to this deeply traumatic and what I believe to be one of the most HAUNTING and Horrifying sequences of the year. I was hyperventilating. I'd trust Andrew Haigh to make a Horror movie next. And this scene being the bisector of the movie felt very apt. From this point on it's really only... cinematic Trauma. We get one of the saddest yet cathartic moments of film since last Years "Aftersun". And when we reach the final scene it gets so much sadder. The plot twist is apparently very controversial, but I found myself loving it (but I hate it for how petrified it left me).
No film this year has occupied my mind like All of Us Strangers has. A subdued, tactical, emotional vehicle of a film that left me speechless for hours. I watched it yesterday and it is still ever present in my soul. I loved it. 10/10. 100/100. 1,000/1,000.
Glee: Funk (2010)
My Favorite Episode So Far
The amount of sheer unhinged-ness in the first half alone had me almost crying from laughter.
The opening "vocal adrenaline" number of "another one bites the dust" is also one of my favorite musical numbers (up there with "the boy is mine" and any of the madonna ones). Jesse st. James is so hot im blind to all his red flags
Will's funk number was so goddamn funny just cause of how sue was so uncomfy and somewhat seduced (WHY DOES HE CLENCH HIS BUTT CHEEKS AT THE BEGINNING???). I also found his and sue's b plot "love story" very funny. I love sue i feel like she was her most "sue" in a while here. Even getting our first (?) look at her house and room was just so funny from plethora of trophies she ACTUALLY HAS. AND THE TROPHY WAS ACTUALLY LIKE 6 FEET TALL WHAT?????
The Mercedes and Quinn c plot was probably the most unhinged part of the episode. From quinn calling Mercedes racist to mercedes' calling quinn a "sista". I laughed so hard when she called her a sista.
And no don't really take this review too seriously. Im 17 and just want to mark my fave ep of season 1.
30 Rock: Sandwich Day (2008)
Floyd
The only reason this episode isn't a 10 because we had to see Floyd leave again. Floyd and liz are soulmates fr and I'm tired of them fighting. Just love each other. Idk if he comes back in another episode but if he does, he better stay.
Glee (2009)
i haven't seen this yet, just asking a question
I looked through all the seasons and found out the show has only ONE episode under a 7.0 but the series as a whole is rated a 6.7... i'm confused. As far as i'm concerned shouldn't the overall rating be way higher? Or at least the individual episodes lower?
Dunkirk (2017)
disappointed
Even with little to no knowledge of this movie i expected to be completely wowed. Spoiler alert! I wasnt... i'm not really a war movie fanatic but this movie was still more boring than any other war related movie i've ever seen. Like the entire movie just felt like it was a 6 on the intensity scale the entire time. A portion of the movie i DO like is the ending when tom hardy's character crashes. Basically the only part of the movie i like is tom hardy. But that's just my opinion.
Ted Lasso: No Weddings and a Funeral (2021)
sobbing
Genuinely think this is my favorite episode thus far. I sobbed for a good ten minutes at both teds troubles and during the portion of becca talking about her dad. Then finally at the eulogy when everyone joined in song to comfort rebecca that's when it really started to run. I love all the little jokes in between to soften the blows and i'm somewhat worried for what will happen with jamie. Very emotional episode :)
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
i found joy in this episodes chaos
I absolutely loved the deep dive we got into beard. His perspective really changed some things for me.i don't know why this is the lowest rated episode. The emotional aspect really gets me and brendan does a great job at portraying it.
Community: Intro to Felt Surrogacy (2013)
What's the hate about??
While yes, this episode is a little more experimental, that didn't stop me from finding it just as entertaining as any other episode. Some people were saying that the confessions "weren't that bad" but no one ever said that they had to be. This episode did feel somewhat refreshing and different making it more memorable to me. It's probably not for everyone but i certainly liked it.
American Horror Story: Gaslight (2021)
incredible
This entire episode to me was a masterpiece. Regardless of doris becoming pale. From the beginning when doris realizes something is wrong this episode kicked it into full gear. The plot wasn't rushed, the acting was phenomenal( ESPECIALLY LILY RABE'S GET HER AN EMMY), and some development and depth was added (only to be completely ignored in the finale, but we don't talk abt that) this episode actually was a little scary (something we haven't seen in a while) and it kind of felt like old ahs. 10/10 episode.
American Horror Story: Winter Kills (2021)
spoilers
SPOILERS
this episode was really rushed and didn't really feel like an episode but an episode of american horror stories. On a 37 minute run time really killed it for me and even worse, literally all the main characters died within a span of two minutes. And in very meaningless ways. Harry could've easily chucked alma across the room how did he dieðŸ˜.
