The Great (2020)
Witty and Fun!
Most of the bad reviews are from folk who are upset it is not historically accurate. Who Cares?! It even uses an asterisk in the title to tell the audience that it isn't accurate.
It is Entertainment. The repartee between Catherine and Peter is, well, Great!
The actress playing Elizabeth is the writer's wife and it shows with her strong character portrayal.
The other supporting cast members seem to all have fun making it all work.
And, like few other shows(ie. The Expanse), the original writer is on top of things so you know it will deliver it's punch as intended.
Yes, it can get vulgar, but it's all for laughs and pace. If you're too easily offended, stick to the Disney Channel.
Season 4? Maybe Peter can come back as a ghost and interplay with different characters. They've already set that precedent successfully.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Fun, but with yawns
It's fun because of the franchise and the past films.
Choosing to center the 'plot' around rocket wasn't a bad idea. They just had no creativity in it.
Kind of like a TV movie with the poor little guy, his friends and the bully. Kind of cliche and boring.
Way too much smart alec comments between the characters, which has always been the great humor in the films, but the writers seem to be out of ammo for this film.
Not funny enough and the comments become part of the plot. PLUS, we saw many of them in the trailers already. Overdone.
Overall, it's a fitting 'end' to the crew(nothing is ever truly over with marvel) but the writers and director seemed to have just mailed it in.
I enjoyed the Christmas special much more!
Bumping Mics with Jeff Ross & Dave Attell (2018)
Two of the unfunniest 'comics' ever
I don't get the high reviews here. These two guys offer nothing novel, creative or funny.
I'm thinking that reviewers under 25 years old are leaving the high ratings.
The other comedians on the show are OK but I think they had been censored by the two mooks so as not to steal the thunder .
Mediocre at best with a lot of hype.
Just having Gilbert Godfried come on is about the funniest point there is. These guys act like they are world famous comedians but are actually just Johnny come
latelys with no ammo in their guns. Jeff Ross has a few good lines in various roasts but attell has never been worthy of a chuckle. See the new gong show that lasted about a minute. Absolutely ruined a classic.
Patriot (2015)
Sit back and get ready for a ride
Stumbled onto this and didn't know what to expect. The beginning dialog was so different it piqued my curiosity so I kept watching.
Then the dark humor came in and I was hooked.
Each episode takes you deeper and deeper into a bizarre espionage plot that goes as wrong as possible. The humor comes from places you would never imagine
and there are many scenes so funny I had to hit pause so I could finish laughing and wipe the tears from my eyes to continue.
It is the perfect blend of story and comedy that never veers from the main plot. In fact, the plot thread is what keeps the pace and the viewer's attention.
And then there is the singing. I don't know of any other movie or series that incorporates the offbeat music so well as to add to the story to save time in a creative way.
When I see the picture of the movie I just start laughing again. I will admit you must be a bit demented to enjoy this. Not for the Disney cartoon crowd.
Outer Range (2022)
A hole lot of nothing
Six episodes of what, maybe ten, and NOTHING happens.
This is basically a crime/detective show with, oh yeah, a hole in the ground which is a time portal of which we have had a nanosecond glimpse. It has sucked six hours of my time away.
The audience is strung along until what, some big twist at the last minute of the last episode to keep us waiting for another season?!
Uncreative, VERY bad writing, scenes that drag on for....ever for no other reason than to create hourly episodes.
Josh Brolin has played good roles but in this he is just a dolt. The cop plays a good role as does Will Patton. Otherwise, it's a soap opera.
The creator seems to be under the impression that the audience will hang with him because the show is sooooo mind-boggling entertaining. It isn't.
And hey, Amazon executives bought it.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Made for 6 year olds because
8 year olds would trash it.
Terrible acting. It's as if they used the first take in every scene.
We have an assassin who can't fight.
Huge desert animals with long hair. Evolution missed this planet. And, what do they eat? Not a tree or plant in sight.
Water? Just dig in the sand a few inches and you can pull out a sea urchin shell , already opened, with a few ounces of h20. No, let's not drink from the well, we can dig it from the sand.
Do the big animals know this?
Every character has a laser gun, but we learn to fight with a stick from a hallucination and the two green warthog men have only machetes. And somehow Darwinism missed them too.
Dialog made for Sylvester Stallone as nothing is more than a few words without any expression, intonation or feeling.
An old worn out man stumbling around a dust bowl wondering what to do.
They stop a ridiculous train with stolen biker vehicles, and the first thing they do is bust open the water tank and it gushes out into the sand. Brilliant.
I really can't believe how human beings at disney created and approved this waste of graphics which are the only nice thing in this fiasco.
They should have filmed it all in huttese without subtitles and would have made more sense.
Rise of Empires: Ottoman (2020)
An enjoyable work on film
It seems that this was a movie that, upon completion, was deemed too bad to make money. So, they popped in some talking head authors and made it into a documentary to salvage the whole thing.
Overall, the acting is pretty bad but the scenes are cool and, though it is maybe not the whole truth, it is very watchable.
Look, a month from now none of us will remember the details so, it doesn't matter. I forget what I had for lunch yesterday lol
After watching this "film" you will at least know what happened there.
