Sex Fifth Avenue (1985 Video)
Could be better
28 September 2003
It is obvious what name this title is being copied from, "Sax Fifth Avenue". This is not uncommon in the pornographic industry to make refrences and parodies to other things.

Basically this movie was made when pornography really started to go downhill for story, I mean REALLY downhill (keep in mind we are talking pornography). After '85, story was almost non-existent. This movie contains a variety of stars including Christy Canyon, Paul Thomas, Steve Powers, and of course our beloved Traci Lords. Ron Jeremy is in the credits, but that is somewhat of a mystery to me because I don't see him ANY WHERE! Was there a cut scene or some thing?

Paul Thomas plays a half decent performance as the "Judge" and that butler provides some humour for us. I really do wish this movie was a bit longer or emphasised more on the story because it kind of sways off towards the middle with really bad editing that goes on and on making a 30 second scene last 10 minutes!!!! The story is interesting at the start and could have REALLY went some where. But nevertheless at least it does have some form of skit.

The acting is not very good, even for a porn movie in this one, Paul Thomas is the only one who really comes out.

When it comes down to it, however, the movie does provide one with the basics, gorgeous bodies, humour, etc. so it has its good points.

All in all 7/10.

Take a look if you have time.

Ladies in Lace (1985 Video)
What the hell?
28 September 2003
This movie has to be one of the best examples of a pornographic flick that has been victimised by excessive editing due to poor scripting from the start. This movie compleatly fails do to what it is trying to get out. The acting is mediocre of course, however, Billy Dee does do a good performance, along with some humour. The story to this flick really is cloudy, one minute you think you are getting it, but then you wonder if this is even a story!?

Why does Tom Byron always pop-up in these films with Traci Lords out of nowhere and of course gets his menu of Fellatio, cunnilingus etc.? How many times has that been for you with Traci, Byron? 200 DOZEN!? Why in the hell does this movie contain a sub-plot about Sandy's Husband and what he does throughout the night!? Why in the world did they have to have every one be involved in the last scene which takes up half of the movie?! Why did the editing have to make it seem these men were on penile steroids!? Why?! WHY!?

6/10

Don't waste you time with this piece of rubbish.

Not what I thought it would be.
4 June 2003
Ever since I viewed this particular film it has made an ever lasting impression on me. I mean what can one say? It was NOT at all what I had expected it to be. I remember a few years ago seeing advertisements for this movie and right away I branded it as one of those unfunny, typical, teenage, nonsense humour stories like the so many that come out to-day. So because of that I had no intention of seeing it and didn't make an effort. One day one of my friends asked me to go along with him and a few others as a group, and when I learnt we were seeing this film I was a bit edgy. However, I was wrong and it surprised me. "Deuce Bigalo" isn't just a story about junior high laughs and giggles and stupid dialogue, it has more of a story about life to it. I mean look how much emphasis we put on looks and popularity, money and wealth. We are forgetting the whole kindness factor that is involved. We have to once in a while move away the "clothes make the man stereotype" and look deeper. Many people will find it easy to relate to Deuce due to his lack of social skills with the ladies and being a blue-collar worker. It has a happy ending which one should expect, but in a bit of a different sense. Even some older people I know were shocked after viewing this show. But due to its advertisements from the past and "humour" that many others can not look past (and I don't totally blame them) unfortunately this movie will never get the respect it deserves and will for ever remain only a shadow with the other crap that comes directly to the shelves after two weeks of theatre these days. Rent it if you have an open mind or need some cheering up. It always works for me!

Strange.....
22 July 2002
The House on Skull Mountain? Sounds like some 60's Hardy-Boy adventure to me. I have to say I caught glimpses of this film a couple weeks ago and it was very strange. Your typical 70's horror flick. I mean it wasn't that bad and Victor French does a good job, but it seemed like it was lacking a few things. Maybe I will have to watch it again some time. All I know is films like the infamous "ALIEN" ('79) changed the view of horror movies for ever and that may or may not be a good thing. Too many imitations these days. Take a look at this movie some time.

Young Robin Hood (1991–1992)
Great Show!
4 May 2002
When I was a young boy in elementary school, I would always wake up before school and have break-fast watching this nicely done show. This show was both serious and funny all at the same time and seemed to be the Robin Hood and characters that you pictured and imagined unlike the movie "Prince of Thieves". I have to say Prince John was actually one of my favourite characters. He made the show always whining and complaining and having nightmares. It is a shame I don't see this series on television any more. I think everyone should see this great show at least a few times to see what it was like to be a child in the early 90's.

Not as good as the original, but worth a see.
5 April 2002
I found this film on Sale at a music store. Months earlier I had bought the original from another music store and I found it to be pretty good! This new version I will say right off the bat, is not as good as the original. However this film has some awesome effects, great characters, and a not too bad story. This movie follows on one large story unlike the original which was a bunch of short ones put together. What I like about this was the whole atmosphere and feeling of an old, early 80's sci-fi film and I like that. Of course the music is no where NEAR as good as the original! But it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. This film had less nudity but it still contained a nice bit of it. And it is quite obvious the part where she is swimming and than dresses up was taken right from the old film which was pretty cool. I suggest you be a little open minded and go take a look at this movie. I am telling you right away it is not as good as the classic original, but is worth a see and is no where near as bad as I've heard. All in all 7.5/10.

A great story which has been bastardised with pointless sequels.
7 March 2002
I remember first seeing this movie in the theatres!!!! I loved it and I have had it on video for quite some time now. I am older and realise how good this movie is and what it truly means! It's such ashame when great movies like these get destroyed by pointless, stupid sequels which are so childish. This movie has it all! A tale about dinosaurs, friendship, love & family, adventure, hope, and a tale about life itself. You may not physically cry but your heart will.

A HUGE insult to the book!
2 March 2002
This version of the Lord of the Flies is probably one of the largest insults to a book I have ever seen in my life!!!! The director obviously rather skimmed or just didn't seem to figure the story out properly. Many things in this movie have been enormously changed, but almost like he was purposely trying to make them bad and screw this story up. Changing the "inner beast", which was a powerful message in the story, to just being the captain was a BIG no-no. I am sorry, but this movie was just way too much americanised. If you are a fan of the book or want to see a movie regarding The Lord of the Flies, see the '63 version. You won't be disapointed on that one! All in all I give this film a 5/10. What was the director thinking?

Wonderful adaptation!
2 March 2002
This film is a wonderful adaptation of a great book! Very powerful messages about human nature and life are in this! I was so surprised when I saw this film because it was VERY true to the book. Pretty much word for word (of course there will be cuts) but there was truly no changing in the dialogue that went on. This film puts the horrible 1990 version to shame! But of course how it is the 1990 director gets the credit and this director is almost but forgotten. So what is it? Are humans naturally good and society corrupts us? Or vice versa? That is for you to decide, but personally I think it's a little bit of both.

A must see!
23 February 2002
I heard of this movie for a while and read great reviews. I recently purchased this film to add to my collection and as I watched it I was amazed!!!!!! This was a Disney Movie????!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!! This is totally not their style and it is sad how they never use this any more. I do realise, however, that this movie was made during the "Dark Period" where movies (especially animations) were based a lot on fantasy, serious, and were rather dark. Such movies can include The Last Unicorn, The Lord of the Rings ('78 version), Watership Down, and many others. These movies weren't your typical children's "happy tales"; they had no horrible unfunny singing (the only singing they had was good!), no stupid side-kicks, no "love of first sight and getting happily married at the end", and no wimpy-pointless plots. These films were made with bitter-sweet endings that were made to help us learn more and recognise more things in life, they had powerful messages some of them. The Black Cauldron has no singing. This movie is quite evil at parts and has dark scenes. The characters are rather serious and the story progresses well. To-day this animation would be considered "old animation" but I like this style better! Too many things have been computerised these days. The old style which was very detailed with many shades was my favourite. The colours seem to come out better and add more affect this way. Overall I give this movie a 9.5/10. I just wish Disney could make movies like this again. But I still have my hopes and await the day when this type of genre returns. "The Lord of the Rings" (2001) is a start.

Very interesting......
18 February 2002
A very interesting film especially if you are alone one afternoon and have nothing else to do. I remember around Christmas time about 2 years ago I happened to catch this film on television. All I can say is it is a very good movie and keeps the interest in ones mind hoping for the film to never end! You can bet that this film is a definite Cult Classic! I have always been interested ever since I was little in the "unknown" and the "unexplained". This great movie was made in 1975 and we all have to realise that this is when the hype with all that stuff was big. It has even been shown and explained that the largest amount of sightings for Sasquatch, Water Monsters, and U.F.O's was in the 70's. The true "terror abductions" with aliens seems to of started in the late sixties, which was a big change from the previous "abductions of grandeur" from the 1950's. The 80's seems to be the "death" of the sightings for these phenomenon and throughout the 90's and even now these sightings almost hardly ever happen, what does that tell you? Of course one theory (which I agree with) was that when this mysteries were big, others wanted attention themselves and there was a "hoping on the band-wagon" effect. No doubt that some of these people were telling the truth or at least think they did. For example: when people are at a place that is infamous for having some type of monster or phenomenon; if they see something people will automatically jump to the conclusion that it was the monster and ignore the other possible explanations. But this movie overall is very good and nicely done, 'tis quite entertaining and I suggest one to see it one of these days. I still have some belief that there are many animals out there we haven't discovered yet, especially in the oceans! I give this movie 8/10.

I can't say much but if you have time take a look at this great movie one of these days! "Heavy Metal" with cast its spell over you and everyone around who happens to be watching it! You got to love the last episode! Very artistic!

An overall, nicely done film.
28 January 2002
I have read all 6 books of "The Lord of the Rings" (except the 7th book which is the appendices) and all I can say is they are GREAT and the best books I have ever read!!!!!!! I actually should say BOOK because in its entirety this truly is just ONE story and let me remind you people it is NOT a trilogy!!!!!!! Those who have read the books will understand and realise that! Even Tolkien himself said how he was annoyed at how people began to call it a trilogy. Of course the movies make it look-out to be like one but it isn't. I plan on reading "The Hobbit" after (yeah I know its suppose to take place before and one should read it first) and think it might be very interesting. What I liked about Tolkiens work was how you do not have to read "The Hobbit" to understand what's going on in "The Lord of the Rings". They pretty much are two very different stories and what one has to remember is "The Hobbit" is a PRELUDE and NOT a PREQUEL for "The Lord of the Rings" that we must understand. Well Peter Jackson's movie was very well done and most of the actors were more than perfect for the parts. I personally enjoy how i pictured the characters and the realm of Middle-Earth much better than the movie but I think that's how it has always been. This movie did lack some character development: Merry and Pippin did not seem to have much film time. That bothered me cause if you have read the books you should know that these two become very important characters! But we will have to wait and see with that one. This next one bothered me the MOST and many other Tolkien fans who have READ the book. Why did they leave out the great Tom Bombadil, AGAIN!!!???? One would of thought they would of learned the big mistake Ralph Bashki's 1978 version of the story made!!!! I know some people do not see him necessary to the story but I certainly do. Even though he was not in the book long or was a major character, in my opinion if it wasn't for him the hobbits would of never made it out of the "Old Forest", never got the courage or spirits needed to complete the quest, and never gotten the swords they posessed! But whatever at least the "cave trolls" weren't left out. Another thing that really bothered me was when Frodo get's stabbed by the Ringwraiths, it is GLORFINDEL who rescues them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is NOT Legolas (1978 version) and it is NOT ARWEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why can't you people get that straight!!!!??????? And why didn't Frodo get to do his famous song at "The Prancing Pony"!!!????? That was one of my favourite parts on the '78 film and they left it out, and Butterbur's character was reduced enormously of course. Why did they leave out some of the best characters?? Sometimes I even wonder if Peter Jackson even bothered reading the first of the 6 books by Tolkien! But then the movie did have some good acting and suspense through-it. If you see this movie and let it be on its own you will enjoy it and think its very good. Because it does have some great scenery and a good story line, the orcs, and other foes are superb! I love the Ringwraiths!!!!!! So overall this is a nicely done film, but if you start comparing it to the books you might be disapointed. The movie just didn't seem to capture all the feeling and spirituality as the book did. The movie based its success on many unnecessary battle scenes and sex appeal (even though I don't truly hate that!) which was done by the beautiful Liv Tyler. I don't care if she brought that appeal when it's suppose to be done, just not in the forest when it was suppose to be another elf helping them. This in my opinion ruined a bit of the story! I can't wait till the second film and am looking forward to it but now usually knowing how things are I am not as hopefull as I was before I saw Peter Jackson's film. But I recomend this movie and it is worth a see! Just try not to compare it too much with the books!!!!! I would of gladly given this movie a 9/10, but because of its simple, but yet important, flaws i give it a 7/10. They shouldn't of been dumb enough to let the same mistakes happen twice! But overall good film.

A true story of good verses evil.
28 December 2001
The Dark Crystal is a great movie not only for children but for adults as well, but hey that's how all great movies were in those times. This movie is one of those that grabs your attention right from the beginning and has yourself right into it asking right away alot of questions. This movie had mostly everything a fantasy could ask for. It has great realistic scenery and images, the film has unforgetable characters and great special effects for its time. The film itself had a wonderful story and some good life messages; The loss of innocence happens to be one of them. Even though this movie is not as good as the wonderful, enchanted "Labyrinth", we must remember that this was more of an experiment by Henson just to get us ready, introduce us to his worlds, and actually see if it will do good and people will like it. It must have achieved all these considering he continued. The characters almost seem much a mystery but that is a good thing in this film. This film is too involved in the story and telling the viewers what its all about and what must be done. It seems more magical and mysterious on how you don't really know these characters very well. This can ruin films however but in this one it doesn't, just how this film is all set up and everything. This was the start of many great movies. If it wasn't for this great film we would of never seen the legendary "Labyrinth", or even 90's shows such as "Groundling Marsh". The characters in this film do remind me of the ones in that show, I think this is where many ideas have came from. I hope you can have an open mind and give this treasure a chance, if you look and watch closely you may even discover things about yourself as well. For this is truly a great classic tale of good conquering evil!!!!!

One of the Greatest!
27 December 2001
This is probably one of the best movies I have ever seen! Made in 1978, Watership down is a animation involving a group of rabbits that rebel from their colony to start their own free society with equal rights and no totalitarianism. This story contains beautiful animation with great images. I believe that everyone should have the privelage of seeing this movie at least once. And I am gettin' tired of saying this, but I don't care if this is an animation, it is NOT a kid's movie!!!!!!!!!!! So I suggest you see it first before letting your children watch but it's nothing that they will never see in life. But all in all 9.5/10. GOTTA LOVE THAT BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

19 December 2001
Believe it or not, being such a HUGE fan of "The Never Ending Story" saga, I didn't happen to see this movie till about 2 years ago. Even though this story has absolute NOTHING to do with the series, all I can say is I actually didn't mind it. I for some odd reason found it quite entertaining and was impressed. I do seperate this movie from the series in general (or else I might begin to hate it), it most likely does better on its own. The original series was actually very serious and alot more dark, especially the first film. I saw "The Neverending Story 3" however, as some sort of "comic relief" to the series. I do enjoy how it was a little more down to earth and had alot more humour in it. Even though the original actors are long gone, the actors in this movie do portray these "new" characters quite well and are believable. If one wants to enjoy this movie make sure you totally seperate it from the original series and DO NOT compare all that much. I will never like this movie as much as the original, I still will watch it for a gag every now and then but it just won't hold the same place in my heart as the originals. If you are HUGE into fantasy and have seen the other movies, give this one a try, 'tis actually not all that bad. Trust me, I have seen worse.

Not the greatest, but not the worst.
19 December 2001
The Never Ending Story 2 did not seem to be as good as its predecessor, however this movie wasn't all that bad. Sure it would of been nice if it had ALL of the original actors from the first one in it and that could be a reason why this film didn't do as well. I bet we would of all enjoyed this movie much better if it did have the original actors in it. I am a big fan of the novel (greatest novel I have ever read) and that could be why I happen to like this movie. This is actually the last half of the book when Bastian visits "Fantastica" and meets Atreyu and all the others. However one downfall was this film seemed a bit distant to the original making it seem like they are two totally different stories when in fact they are one. It just didn't seem to capture all the magic of the book. But all in all this was a pretty good movie and it wouldn't hurt to get an idea of what the second half of the story is all about. But the first film is the greatest and will put its spell over your entire family!!!!!!! I give The Never Ending Story 2; 7.5/10.

A Great Fantasy Movie For All
17 December 2001
In a time when fantasy was big. A time when movies were SERIOUS and appealed to the older audience as well with great morals, The Never Ending Story is probably one of the best fantasies of all time. I loved this movie when I was just a young boy, I use to watch it all the time and never get tired of it. I still don't. Years ago I went and read the original novel to this great film. Some wording in the original novel were a bit different however, such as the land being called "FANTASTICA" instead of "FANTASIA". I personally like the original novel pronounciation better than the film because it seems more magical and "FANTASIA" is just used too much in too many things. Of course the book is much better and more complex than the movie, but what does one expect? Even though the movie is only the first half of the original novel, it still does great by itself. This film can be loved and cherished by everyone. If you haven't seen it, go out and rent it. Most won't regret it.

Labyrinth (1986)
A great film for the entire family!!!!!!!
11 December 2001
Labyrinth!!!! One of the greatest fantasy movies of all time!!!!! I remember first seeing this movie in the late 80's when I was 'bout 4 years old. I remembered enjoying it very much! This movie stayed at the back of my mind for years. It always kept popping up in my mind though every so often. It wasn't untill three years ago that I finally saw this fantastic film once again and it was great! One of the ultimate best ways to burn a babystitting Saturday night!!!!!!! Today i went to my local video store and purchased a copy, was the only one there and so I decided to not let this opportunity pass by. I had dinner once I got home and put in the movie for both myself and my three year old brother. We both loved it, my brother couldn't stop laughing. All the characters no doubt all make a great tribute to this film, however, both my brother and I loved that fox and the dog (can't remember his name), in my opinion he steals much of the show at some parts towards the end and is actually quite funny! This typical 80's fantasy is not only towards the children but for adults as well. It has a good message about life in it which I think was very well done. THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM TO BE. How true that is! Maybe 'tis just the way I happen to interpret them, but fantasy movies have always seemed to have messages about life in them and I happen to like that very much. This movie no where near has much of an impact as "The Last Unicorn". This movie is a bit more of a lighter more comedic film with a simple nice message to keep the smile on your face and turn the film off happily. I think anybody should see this film at least once in their lives!!!! For people who are into fantasy and messages, I tell people to see this movie right before "The last Unicorn." It will get you comfortable with the realm of fantasy and understanding. Then you can go on to the more powerful impact story. Anyways this movie was very nicely done, the actors were great, and I am glad to finally add it to my collection. I think it is fair to give this movie a 9/10. Rent it and be amazed!

Jagged Edge (1985)
Not all that bad.
10 December 2001
This movie was recently lent to me from a person I know who thought I might enjoy this film. And it actually in my opinion wasn't all that bad of a film. I mean it wasn't GREAT and I won't add it to my collection of movies but the 108 minutes I spent watching it I can say were enjoyable. The film did have some flaws however. A bit of the dialogue was hard to understand and was quiet. Could of been just the version I had but I found myself constantly increasing the volume to almost the top and even then the talkin' was still not very loud, but then when a yell or scream came it almost shatters yer ears! Kind of reminds me of some 70's or 80's x-rated film. And for me that is, was it was very obvious on who the killer was. A downfall was that the movie gave a little too much evidence on who it was but then shifted things around trying you to second guess but it wasn't convincing or good enough. But just so I don't scare people and make them think this movie totally sucks, on to the positives. I did enjoy the nice quick pace of the movie and how it didn't drag on for a long time and then for the last 10 minutes start to get good. This movie captured ones attention right from the very beginning and to the end. Jeff Bridges and Glenn Close do an excellent job as playing the roles of the characters. I can also say is the suspense/thriller movies of today aren't this good and are kind of goofy compared to the ones like these. I DO thank the person who lent it to me though, was a nice way to burn 108 minutes if you have nothing better to do. As of now this movie is going back in the "Return Pile". All in all 8/10.

Pearl Harbor (2001)
Pearl Harbour: Big Dissapointment
6 December 2001
Pearl Harbour, I cannot describe how HORRIBLE this movie is!!!!!!!! It is long, boring, pointless, and stupid. I mean how can one even sit through this movie without going mad!!!!!?????? The entire movie was nothing but romance and a love story. The only action was for like the last 25 mins of the movie, and some how (i don't know how that is!!), is that the Americans won in the end? Doesn't anyone find that strange? Cause the way i learned it in school was that they got slaughtered during that battle and it wasn't till WAY later that the Americans and they allies won!? Well i don't know, maybe I have it wrong. But if you are into romance I suggest this movie to you and NO-ONE else!!!!!! Man, the '78 version of The Lord of the Rings is twice as good as this movie!!!!!

An awsome movie!!!!
3 December 2001
The last unicorn is a movie that will remain a cherished classic forever. i can guarantee you will never see works like this ever again!!!! i happened to first see this movie when i was about 3 or 4 years old on t.v. all i can say is i remembered a few parts but i think i blocked much of it out because i remembered it really confused and upsetted me somewhat. i forgot about this film for some time, then saw it again 'bout 5 years ago. all i can say was i loved it, was very well done, it made me sad and think a bit, and i couldn't help but be amazed. i was older than and i realized why i got upset when i was younger but i also understood ALOT more things and i can tell you that movie is one of the VERY few that is like no other! i sort of once again forgot about this movie until this year someone mentioned it to me and i said i saw it also and loved it. today i went and purchased a copy of this masterpiece and am very glad i did so. i do have a younger brother that is 3 and i will show it to him just so he can be amazed by the colour and magic. but if you want to get the full meaning and understanding of the story, i recomend one to be at least 14 years of age. this movie will go down as one of my favourite classics forever. i give this movie believe it or not a perfect 10 out of 10. It is that good!

Enemy Mine (1985)
One of my childhood favourites.....
24 November 2001
Warning: Spoilers
I first saw this movie back around 1988 when I was very young and I still remember that. It was on television and I was amazed at the scenery, creatures, and story!!!! I loved this movie so much that I saw it again and again. I later forgot about it untill about 3 years ago when I saw it for sale and bought it. The movie still amazed me and was still awsome!!!! I figured and learned some more things out since I am older and that made the movie even better! I like how to survive they had to learn to be friends and get along with each other which I thought was very nice. It's honestly a very simple, direct message in the movie, for us to survive and do well in life we must try to get along with one another and help each other out. We are always fighting wars and hurting one another, we truly have to stop that. I also figured out what the "mine" was all about ha ha. The dracs were being used as slaves at the end you find out in a mine. When I was young I had absolute no idea what the title meant. But all in all it was an awsome movie and will still go on as being one of my favourite movies. Yes the 80's had some of the best movies this world has ever known!

Could of been better.

One thing i can say about this movie is well long, VERY LONG! I actually recently purchased this movie a couple of months ago seeing that there was a new version coming out. I was happy to find that it was made in 1978 because The 70's (even though i never lived in them) is actually one of my favourite decades, especially for the music! when i watched this movie the story was actually very good at the start but then after about 50 mins it started to get very boring and repetitive. i will admitt the animation did impress me! it was nothing i had ever seen before and was well pretty cool to see. but the movie honestly could of been a bit better, it could of had alot more talking and story to it than just 15 to 20 minute scenes that just had wierd fighting. then for the last 5 or 10 minutes the movie picked up and got good again but ended unexpectedly. in my opinion i thought it was EXTREMELY long. i know its 13 minutes over 2 hours and that is still long for a cartoon but since it was boring for most of the movie, it made it seem like it was 4 hours long!!!! but overall it is an okay film i guess and i will watch it again on one of those "nothing to do days". i will see the new one and i hope it is better!

Shallow Hal (2001)
This movie really got to me
16 November 2001
shallow hal was a very good movie. it had some very straight forward easy to understand messages in the movie, 'twas nicely done. anyways i think it is sad how we put too much importance on looks, they truly aren't everything and hopefully we all will eventually realize that. especially high school students should take some consideration in this. i went and saw it with a friend and we both agreed that if we were in hals position, at the end when we found out what she really looked like we would still date her. a few others said that as well, i don't know if they were just trying to sound nice or something but i TRULY would. of course a few said "hell no!" or "i'm sorry but they have to be half decent" or "if that happened to me, please get me out of that spell!" but hopefully not everyone comes out of the movie thinking like that.
