The Blacklist: The Cyranoid (No. 35) (2021)
Season 8, Episode 9

Ridiculous
12 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Really??? This episode is ridiculous. The show is just embarrassing itself at this point. I wasn't a huge Elizabeth Keen fan as it was but the story took an absurd turn when Megan Boone left. The show, in my opinion could have gotten better at that point. Gone through a much needed redemption. But the writers, attempting to keep Agent Keen in the story without the audience ever seeing her, totally jump the shark, turn around and dive right in to wrestle with it. I barely made it though this episode without bailing and I felt the need to take a long or permanent break from it. Hope you like it better than I did. I found it over the top unbelievable.

Fall (I) (2022)
5/10
Cinematography decent. Acting mediocre.
7 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not a climber by any means. But wouldn't most people clip on, climb a few feet, then clip on again? These two dopes tied themselves together but not to the tower. The cinematography was OK, probably the best part of the film. The photography did give me a sense of their extreme height. But several times these gals were able to defy physics and pull off feats that Olympic gymnists only dream about and had me rolling my eyes. I was, admittedly, pleasantly surprised at a couple small twists in the story which helped to make it less than 100% predictable. I give it a 5/10. Worth watching if you're bored some afternoon or evening.

White Fang (I) (1991)
5/10
Mildly interesting. Falls far short of the novel.
24 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to give this film a chance. First, the acting is far from memorable. The screenplay is childish and silly in parts. It completely misses the essence of the book which was graphic and heart wrenching. Re-written to the point it only vaguely resembles the book. There's a reason it's not been made into an major film. Almost the entire novel, 90%, takes place within White Fang's mind. How a wolf sees the world; unable to understand human speech and human behavior. His life is pain, bitterness and above all, hate. Not Disney material so they chuck 70% of London's plot out the window. In the book Salvation came only at the end with Weedon Scott, a major character absent in the movie. I get it. "Jack" replaces several characters; three, I think. Anyway... could be mildly entertaining for a family movie night. The kids might like it but probably won't ever ask to watch it again. I'm

Longest Hour and a Half of my life
10 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers ahead. Well, actually 1 hour. I fast forwarded through most of the dialogue. I'm sorry but the acting was pitiful and the story ridiculous. I'm not sure if this was a dark comedy or a horror film aimed at 15 year olds. I actually cheered for the wolves. Best part of the movie was when these horrible actors got munched.

One of my favorite episodes this season
12 August 2017
This was one of my favorite episodes this season. Showed us more of 2's past and revealed surprises about Android. If you're an Android fan, you'll enjoy this episode. This episode has both action and heartwarming moments. You'll laugh, you'll cheer, you'll get a lump in your throat all in a five minute span.

A Shaky alternate explanation
3 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Possible spoilers!

I guess the title should have been a flag but I must have been half asleep. I started watching with interest because I have always been fascinated with the Tunguska Event. But the plot quickly turns to "questioning" that it even was a comet or asteroid. The film claimed witnesses observed unnatural behavior in the object's flight path. The bottom line is: the film implies, without proof, just speculation, that it was an alien ship from a far away world. Sorry, but I rolled my eyes and lost interest rapidly. If you are a comet, meteorite and asteroid enthusiast, you will probably want to watch one of the other documentaries that's based on hard evidence, study and scientific experience, rather than a "conspiracy theory" style explanation.

Lonesome Dove (1989)
10/10
Based partly on a true story
17 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Loved it the first time I saw it in 1988 and have watched it 5 or 6 times....all 6 hours. Until now, 2010, I never knew that this movie was based (somewhat) on real people; Charles Goodnight and Oliver Loving. The two men were dear friends, Goodnight & Loving drove cattle on a cross country drive, Loving rode ahead and was pinned down for three days by Comanches was shot and escaped via a river, got to a town doctor where Goodnight caught up with him and sat with him until he died. Goodnight indeed kept a promise and hauled his friend's body back home and buried it in Texas. I should have known. Real life is always a better tale than any fiction. This mini series and story is the best western ever.

Don't waist 100 minutes watching this
25 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
****May contain spoilers***.

I don't know what could possibly spoil this film more than it spoiled itself. I only kept watching hoping beyond hope that some development in the plot would rouse me from the coma I almost slipped into watching it. It was just plain weird and boring. I must agree with the above review the Mortensen's character, Phillip (though a criminal, a bigot and not very likable) is the only character in the film with any brains and common sense.

I suspect that the makers of this film were trying to draw sympathy for the homosexuals in this film. There seemed to be no other message. I'm afraid that they actually achieved the opposite from me. (Which I feel was too bad. Please, no accusations of bigotry).

I'm sorry but this was one of the most boring, flat, non-existent plots I've ever seen. It's basically a day in the life of 7 self indulged, whining brats. I couldn't feel the least bit sympathetic to any of there problems. I just wanted to slap them and yell "get a job and get over yourself!" And this is coming from someone you gets teary-eyed every time I watch The Green Mile or The Shawshank Redemption.

A great adventure story
29 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
In a small cabin deep in the arctic north, men sit around a stove, playing cards, drying clothes and doing their best to forget about the incredible -50 degree cold outside and the long arctic night. The door bursts open and in staggers a creature that was once a large and healthy man. Nose tip and fingers gone from frost bite, his shoes half eaten in hunger, he agrees to some broth and a short sit by the fire but then he must go on, at all cost.

I read this Jack London novella several years ago. I'm amazed that the movie hasn't been remade into a modern movie. It's a tale of a poor northern man who dedicates his life searching the vast frozen North for his young bride who was kidnapped and torn away from him by white men from the South. The story spans decades and thousands of miles of terrible and breathtaking country, while all the hero can think about is the fear and heartache that his young timid bride must be enduring, having never been more than a few miles from her home before the night she was stolen from him. He vows to bring her home and crush the men that took her.

Zzzzzzzzz
27 February 2003
I waited 24 years to see this film. I wish I had not. It might have actually been scary when I was 18 back in 1979. But there have been so many superior and and far more suspenseful films since, I found myself usually rolling my eyes. It's not the lack of technology that's to blame. Hitchcock scared me 35 years ago and so have many other directors and writers before and since. This film was lame.
