Wonderful Christmas classic
23 November 2022
I've watched movie hundreds of times and I love all of it. The message is clear. Most people don't appreciate what they have until its lost.

George Bailey was no exception, he wanted so badly to leave Bedford Falls and go live his life, away from his small town. Instead he remains and helps keep the town alive and out of the hands of the evil Mr. Potter.

The only thing that made me cringe was the age of James Stewart at the time of the filming, he was 38 yrs old! And here he is playing a 22 yr old big brother to his 18 yr old brother, Harry Bailey, who was actually 25 at the time. My pet-peeve.

Its more than a mere Christmas movie, it brings to light all of the things we take for granted everyday! No movie is more important to me than this film; a story about a man who had a wonderful life, but couldn't see it.

So many people strive for more; more bigger, more excitement, more money, more prestige and they miss out on the things right in front of them.

Ghost Whisperer (2005–2010)
7/10
Story was terrific and unique, but changed course at season 3.
8 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I remember watching Ghost Whisperer when it was on TV 2005-10 and thinking it was terrific. I then discovered it later on one of my streaming services. I decided to re-watch the series. What I loved about the show was how unique each episode was and how Melinda managed to persuade the earth-bound spirits to cross into the light. 9/10 stars for the story-lines in seasons 1-2.

Here's what I didn't like: 1) Jennifer Love Hewitt is a beautiful woman, but I think she enjoyed showing off her boobies a little too much. Either it was the director, or the writers or the costume dept., but Melinda was always sporting a very revealing top. It was distracting. Someone that beautiful should not have to show off her boobies in every single episode.

2) Jim Clancy/David Conrad is almost too good to be true. He's tall & handsome, he cooks and does the dishes, plus he supports Melinda in every way. He's almost a saint and its quite a stretch to envision him as an actual person, nobody is that perfect.

3) All the stupid things Melinda does; she puts her 'ghost-busting' over & above everything else, its more important than her husband, her friends and her job. She runs off by herself all the time and gets into trouble, instead of asking for help or taking another person with her into those dark alleys.

4) Back to my number one, Melinda has perfect hair & makeup in every scene. Before she goes to bed, in the middle of the night and first thing in the morning her hair & makeup are impeccable. No-one wakes up looking like a super-model and no-one showers with their false eyelashes still attached!

5) Clothes, in one scene Melinda runs off to find a ghost, even though she has invited friends over for dinner. But she doesn't bother to change her clothes and the ghosts could have waited until morning? She goes out wearing a pretty black dress, high-heeled boots, her purse and of course, perfect hair & makeup. Then she gets caught in a cave-in???

6) Killing off main characters. Nothing pisses me off more than falling in love with the characters only to have them killed off for no particular reason. Melinda's best friend Andrea was killed at the end of season 1 and the Jim Clancy is killed later in season 4. How about young Ned? Have way through season 3, Tyler Jones (age 12) was replaced by Christoph Sanders (age 20) that's quite a leap, and why? Jay Mohr was replaced, Jim Clancy dies, but he comes back and looking like the old Jim?

7) Melinda is able to convince almost every ghost to cross-over. I don't see how some anger, bitter ghost could suddenly, switch gears and forgive their enemy so quickly and cross into the light?

8) Money? Where did Melinda & Jim get all that money from? They got married, moved from the city to a small town, they buy a house which needs lots o renovations, Melinda drives a 'new' red SUV while Jim (a paramedic) drives a new blue pickup. Melinda opens an antique business and fills it with merchandise. So, where did all this money come from? It would have been easier to accept if Melinda's Father had left her some money, or Jim's parents had left him money.

9) Lots of red-flags, too many unanswered questions, unrealistic scenes, Melinda's boobies and the ending was a disgrace.

The X-Files: All Things (2000)
Season 7, Episode 17
3/10
He was way too old for Scully
9 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Although, I love-love-love the X-Files, this is one episode I hated. The age difference between Daniel Waterson and Dana Scully was too significant, so significant that I spent the entire episode yelling at my TV.

How someone as intelligent & independent as Dana Scully could allow herself to be manipulated & seduced by her Medical School Professor, makes me question her sanity.

Its was gross and disgusting and he was old enough to be her Father (yuck). The only redeeming scene was at the very end where Dana falls asleep on Mulder's couch and later (we assume) she wakes up and goes into Mulder's bed.

I give this episode 3 stars for Dana who by her own addmission, decides to leave her "married lover" and move away. And a big plus, when she realizes she made the right choice.

How can so many men be so dumb?
25 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I actually liked this movie, unlike most of the other reviews. It was a good thriller and the slow plot didn't bother me. I was almost cheering for Vic, who systematically killed all of his wife's lovers.

1st was Martin McRae who Vic claims to have killed, but we find out later someone else killed him. 2nd, we have Joel, an interested lover, but after hearing Vic threaten his life, he wisely leaves town. Next is the piano teacher, Charlie who Vic drowns at a pool party. 4th, we have Tony another lover, who flaunts his affair with Melinda so openly that, Vic kills him with a rock and puts him in the river. Last we have Tom, a writer who has been spying on Vic, hoping to "catch him in the act." Tom seeing Vic back at the river pushing Tony's body down into the water and he flees, ultimately driving off a cliff and dying.

Two things distracted me from the story; One was the vast age differences. Vic was 15yrs older than Melinda, and in my opinion too old for her and the reason she had to take much younger lovers. Second was the age difference between Don Wilson & Kelly (his wife) again he was far too old for her (15yr difference) he looked like her Father (ugh).

The second thing was the stupidity of the men who had affairs with Melinda. Anyone so stupid as to sleep with a married woman and flaunt that relationship in front of anyone & everyone, deserves to die.

She deserved everything she got
10 May 2022
I'm sorry, but as soon as I watched the scene between Tom (the man in the truck) and Rachael at the stop light. I knew she was in the wrong and deserved everything she got. I don't think I have ever seen a more deserving a$$hole.

She could have stopped all the killing and road rage, had she simply been apologetic and reserved, instead she antagonized a man on the edge.

I don't think that many people had to die, because Tom was having a bad day, but I am the kind of person who recognizes that somewhere, sometime, someone is having a bad day.

I was on HIS side the whole time. I gave this 9 stars for Russel Crowe and NOT Caren Pistorius.
