Murder She Cooked
14 October 2023
Enjoyable ... but very formulaic... how many murders can she cater? I'd like to see this be renewed ... but they've got to figure out a way to change her character's catering situation. Maybe if she gets some sort of catering job with the police ... I don't know. Maybe she opens up a restaurant near the police station. The acting is fine. The leading lady is charming. The chemistry between the cast members is very good. I'm just afraid their going to run out of plots. Maybe she'll marry the lead detective and "help" him with his cases. Pie In the Sky worked because the lead was a retired detective who opened up a restaurant and still worked part time. I think they cooked themselves into a corner with this one. Here's hoping they figure it out.

Enjoy the show ... just one observation.... I don't think an extreme germaphobe would keep an uncovered glass of water on his bedside table . It would definitely be covered ... or better yet ... he'd have a sealed bottle of the best spring water on the market. With an extra in the same drawer that he keeps his little paper bags.

I think this episode was a little weak. I figured it out in the first few minutes. The writers tipped their hand too early. Oh well ... you can't win them all. I'm still looking forward to the next episode.

Additionally... PBS Masterpiece ... please make subtitles available ... Thank you.

Made me angry.

Hadn't seen this since I was a kid. Now .. viewing it as an adult woman ... I can't believe how sexist the writing was ... to the point where it really made me angry. Someone should write a book!!!

Clever dialogue and quirky delivery.

It got me hooked .. a good mix of interesting plots, very comfortable characters , and main actress breaking fourth wall is a welcome, fresh approach to a procedural.

Guest Actor deserves the British Emmy.

The actor who played the uncle in this episode gave an INCREDIBLE performance in the last 10 minutes!!! I was floored !!! He really really deserves an acting award for his powerful, emotionally gut wrenching scene.

Doesn't know what it wants to be ....

Too many plots .... "kitchen sinky" ... but well acted and has an attractive quirkiness to it. It's a slice of life in a dystopian future ... A good rainy afternoon low budget scifi project ..

Don't be put off by first episode ... this is a fun and clever show!
17 September 2019
I didn't like the first episode ... it was too serious and slow moving. Thank heavens I didn't give up on the series. Starting with the second episode ...They lightened it up and quickened the pace and it works! The plots are well conceived and a challenge to solve ... plus Lucy Lawless is charming!

Stupid, obnoxious, and narcissistic crew (most of them.)
29 July 2019
Why in the world would writers create such loathsome crew members? They put the fate of the earth into the hands of twenty-somethings that behave like the worst haters on Twitter. It's insulting to intelligent and brave real twenty -somethings. By the time the second episode was almost over .. I wanted Katee Sackoff to just kill them all off and proceed on the mission on her own ... plus the ship's AI. Actually that probably would have been a better show. Sackoff could handle it easily!!! What a mess!!!

Heartbreaking!
21 October 2018
I felt so sorry for the kids. Somebody has to do something about these crazy mandatory sentences. On reality tv crime shows ... I've seen people who directly commit manslaughter and assault get lighter sentences than this women who happened to be the "girlfriend" of a criminal. The system has to be changed. The suffering to the families is beyond belief! I didn't know any of this was happening until I saw this movie yesterday on HBO.

In 1973 it was a wow!
20 August 2018
Saw it in the theatre when I was a kid and saw it yesterday on cable. Yes, by today's standards, it's slow and the special effects are underwhelming. However, please remember, at the time the special effects were amazing to the audience! We hadn't seen anything like it. In judging a film it's important to remember when it was made. Think of the original stop-motion King Kong vs. the latest Motion capture CGI version.

Little movie ... but it had heart!!!

Ok it's low budget, but it has a solid, simple story and you care about the characters. The lead actor is really good and holds it together. Not a "blockbuster" but good for a rainy day. One of the better small movies on Netflix!!!
